Here we go again
[edit]The article about Orlando Fernández, a.k.a. "The Puerto Rican Aquaman", from Ponce who is the first Puerto Rican swimmer to cross the Strait of Gibraltar, is being nominated for deletion by guess who? Yes, the same nominator who has nominated the other Puerto Rican related articles for deletion. I can't understand why that person keeps doing this. - Marine 69-71, Hello! I worked on this article to try to improve it. Trimmed info not directly about Fernández and updated the formatting (i.e. career section, references). I removed a reference that didn't look to be a WP:RS and found an archived of once source that was dead linked (although I'm not sure KooltourActiva is a reliable source). I'll see if I can find any other sourcing that can demonstrate meeting WP:GNG. It is important to WP:AGF about the nominator. If Fernández meets GNG, it should survive an AfD without much trouble. Best way to ensure that is to perform a WP:HEYMANN. TJMSmith (talk) 02:40, 26 February 2021 (UTC)
- TJMSmith Thank you for your work and advice. I wish there were more people in Wikipedia like you. Tony the Marine (talk) 04:29, 26 February 2021 (UTC)
- User:Marine 69-71 this is blatant WP:CANVASSING as you have done above. Mztourist (talk)
- That is not WP:CANVASSING! What this is about is notifying the Puerto Rican Community about Puerto Rican related articles which have been nominated for deletion period. Tony the Marine (talk) 17:28, 2 March 2021 (UTC)
- Read Wikipedia:Canvassing#Appropriate notification which states "Notifications must be polite, neutrally worded with a neutral title, clear in presentation, and brief—the user can always find out more by clicking on the link to the discussion". That doesn't describe your AFD notifications on this page, so it is canvassing. Mztourist (talk) 15:02, 4 March 2021 (UTC)
New Military Articles nominated for deletion
[edit]I would like to notify the community of this project that the following Puerto Rican related articles are being nominated for deletion. They are: José L. Santiago and Col. Evelio Otero Jr.. Thank you and happy editing everyone! Tony the Marine (talk) 17:58, 4 March 2021 (UTC)
- Marine 69-71, These article alerts already appear automatically on the main PR project page: Wikipedia:WikiProject Puerto Rico#Article alerts. That seems like an efficient way for project members to stay updated. TJMSmith (talk) 07:50, 6 March 2021 (UTC)
