Lack of sources

Be advised, the page on We the Living is currently devoid of sources. I added IMDB as an external link, but much more needs to be done. A list of all projects falling under WP:RAND in need sources should be compiled. --SharkfaceT/C 05:16, 29 June 2008 (UTC)

Changes to the WP:1.0 assessment scheme

As you may have heard, we at the Wikipedia 1.0 Editorial Team recently made some changes to the assessment scale, including the addition of a new level. The new description is available at WP:ASSESS.

  • The new C-Class represents articles that are beyond the basic Start-Class, but which need additional references or cleanup to meet the standards for B-Class.
  • The criteria for B-Class have been tightened up with the addition of a rubric, and are now more in line with the stricter standards already used at some projects.
  • A-Class article reviews will now need more than one person, as described here.

Each WikiProject should already have a new C-Class category at Category:C-Class_articles. If your project elects not to use the new level, you can simply delete your WikiProject's C-Class category and clarify any amendments on your project's assessment/discussion pages. The bot is already finding and listing C-Class articles.

Please leave a message with us if you have any queries regarding the introduction of the revised scheme. Wikipedia 0.7 articles have been selected for Objectivism

Wikipedia 0.7 is a collection of English Wikipedia articles due to be released on DVD, and available for free download, later this year. The Wikipedia:Version 1.0 Editorial Team has made an automated selection of articles for Version 0.7.

We would like to ask you to review the articles selected from this project. These were chosen from the articles with this project's talk page tag, based on the rated importance and quality. If there are any specific articles that should be removed, please let us know at Wikipedia talk:Version 0.7. You can also nominate additional articles for release, following the procedure at Wikipedia:Release Version Nominations.

A list of selected articles with cleanup tags, sorted by project, is available. The list is automatically updated each hour when it is loaded. Please try to fix any urgent problems in the selected articles. A team of copyeditors has agreed to help with copyediting requests, although you should try to fix simple issues on your own if possible.

We would also appreciate your help in identifying the version of each article that you think we should use, to help avoid vandalism or POV issues. These versions can be recorded at this project's subpage of User:SelectionBot/0.7. We are planning to release the selection for the holiday season, so we ask you to select the revisions before October 20. Inactive WikiProject?

Is this WikiProject effectively inactive? No posts to this WikiProject's talk page other than bots and automated messages for the last 4 months - since June 2008... Cirt (talk) 22:24, 31 October 2008 (UTC)

It was inactive, then about four months ago I gave it a makeover and recruited the editors you see as members today. We haven't got up and running yet. the skomorokh 23:02, 31 October 2008 (UTC)
Doesn't seem worthwhile to retain a WikiProject with zero posts to the talk page or activity on the talk page of any kind that is not bots or automated for over three months. Cirt (talk) 23:08, 31 October 2008 (UTC)
We can use this page if we need to raise an issue centrally; thus far we have been using individual talkpage threads. If you want to MfD the project, please feel free. If you want to join us, you're more than welcome. But otherwise, I'd appreciate it if you left our set-up in peace. the skomorokh 23:13, 31 October 2008 (UTC)

Archival

I see no reason not to archive the oldest thread, we can keep the 4 newest threads, and if need be set the archival to archive things older than three months, instead of one. Cirt (talk) 23:07, 31 October 2008 (UTC)

Archiving is for when pages get too long (60k+). I think it is safe to say that there is no risk of that here. Why the compulsion to mess with what is not broken? the skomorokh 23:10, 31 October 2008 (UTC)
It is a useful tool to archive old/inactive posts that just sit there for over three months with zero activity or new posts in those discussion threads. Cirt (talk) 23:12, 31 October 2008 (UTC)
An empty talkpage is better than an old one? I don't think so. If the project members feel a need to archive our discussions automatically in future, we will implement your system. I added Ed Locke. In addition to being a well known advocate of Objectivism, he is a world renowned psychologist. He is THE LEADER in his field of industrial and motivational psychology. That should warrant a page at some point Endlessmike 888 07:36, 14 December 2008 (UTC)

Collaboration / quality improvement drive?

Has this project ever had a collaboration / quality improvement drive before? If so, what article(s) were improved? If not, it might be a good idea to have a WP:GA or even WP:FA drive in an attempt to motivate more participation along a common collaborative goal. Cirt (talk) 00:04, 1 November 2008 (UTC)

Possible Portal?

If enough articles (say at least 10 on general topics and 10 on notable individuals) could get up to at the very least B-Class or higher, with no unsourced portions in the articles and good referencing, there might be enough material on this topic for a portal, and perhaps a featured portal drive. Might be best to work on the above suggestion, a quality-improvement content-collaboration drive on a few articles, first. Recognition?

Does this Project have some setup for recognition of content work related to this topic? For example, WP:ORE has DYK service awards which seems to be a positive way to motivate editors, and WP:MILHIST has a few different types of Awards. Coordinators' working group

This group has been created after discussion regarding possible changes to the A-Class review system, and that may be one of the first things discussed by interested coordinators.

This is a notice to let you know about Article alerts, a fully-automated subscription-based news delivery system designed to notify WikiProjects and Taskforces when articles are entering Articles for deletion, Requests for comment, Peer review and other workflows (full list). The reports are updated on a daily basis, and provide brief summaries of what happened, with relevant links to discussion or results when possible. A certain degree of customization is available; WikiProjects and Taskforces can choose which workflows to include, have individual reports generated for each workflow, have deletion discussion transcluded on the reports, and so on. Start Fresh

How about we zap the participant list, the to-do list, and archive this page?

I think zapping the participant list is simple enough, we just need someone willing to leave a short note on each user-page. Then folks can sign themselves up again if they are indeed interested. Karbinski (talk) 16:00, 6 April 2009 (UTC)
