Sicily and related pages
Can we get members to monitor developments at the Sicily, History of Sicily, and related pages? I left a note at the Wikipedia:WikiProject Sicily, but am unsure if any active members are around. Many thanks! El_C 22:33, 9 August 2007 (UTC) I noticed that the article on the Monreale states that the Conca d'Oro translates into the Golden Shell, which is found in many guide-books. But, "Conca" is not a conch shell. “The word conca is sometimes applied to natural objects. The great plain of Palermo, from its shape and remarkable fertility, is known as the conca d’oro, i.e. ‘golden basin in the mountains,’ and not ‘shell’ as some translate it. It is about twenty-five miles in circumference, and is surrounded by a noble chain of mountains.” Readings on the Inferno of Dante based upon The Commentary of Benvenuto Da Imola by William Warren Vernon. 2nd edition. Hi, I was wondering if there was anyone in the project who could work on the Pescara article? I realize that this project has a lot of other start class articles, but I was hoping there would be someone here who might know about the city or who could translate parts of the Italian article (it's very long and FA class). Thank you! --Eruhildo (talk) 04:41, 4 June 2008 (UTC)
Mass witch trials
Hello! I am interested in witch trials, but I have found little about Italian with trials here on wikipedia. Out on the net, there are information about two major witch trials in Italy; in Como in 1524, and in Castelnovo in 1647. The perhaps unreliable sources on the net claims that the number of people burned in the Como trial was 1000. I don't know if this is true. Does anyone here know anything about this? Or do you know a usefull link on english? Regards--Aciram (talk) 17:57, 7 June 2008 (UTC)
- Perhaps this it:Streghe di Valle Camonica mentions any of it?--85.226.235.208 (talk) 12:45, 23 June 2008 (UTC)

Naples Garbage Problem
Hi, I'd like some help with integrating the Naples waste management issue into the Naples article. Seeing as it has its own section in the Featured Naples article of Spanish Wikipedia and in the Italian Wikipedia, I believe it deserves its own section here. However, I'm far too tired of edit-warring to do anything more about it myself.
Thanks -M.nelson (talk) 03:54, 19 June 2008 (UTC)
- Naples article is not featured status in the Italian Wikipedia,[1] though as has already been explained to you inter-language Wikipedia articles are not an official "measuring stick" to the often superior in quality English Wikipedia articles. The Naples waste management issue article is already intergrated into the article in the apropriate sction; namely the recent history section, in following with the WP:MOS so as not to violate "recentism" or give undue weight to topics which do not have a historic notability.
- An equivelent example, to what you are suggesting would be you going to the London article and starting up a section titled "7 July 2005 London bombings". In articles of such historic cities, undue weight on such issues sticks out as blatant recentism, dragging down article quality. And so in the article on London the terrorist attack is mentioned in passing in the "history" section with a link to its indepth, topic specific article. In the Naples article the waste management issue is mentioned in passing in the "history" section with a link to its indepth, topic specific article. - Gennarous (talk) 04:11, 19 June 2008 (UTC)
