Other Template[edit]I found another Stadium template here: Template:Infobox Stadium. It is better than the on currently on show? - Nick C 18:50, 24 February 2006 (UTC) yeh i used that one on Ellis Park Stadium and i think it gives more information than the other one, so its better Philc 0780 22:21, 12 March 2006 (UTC) I think Address would be a good tidbit to include in an infobox, and also agree that the current Stadium template could be improved JoelCFC25 18:16, 15 March 2006 (UTC) Naming conventions on stadia[edit]I was looking for somewhere to voice this concern and I hope this is the right spot. I'm somewhat confused by the irregular naming conventions used for stadia outwith the English-speaking world. I discovered the confusion some time ago when trying to get the 2006 Winter Olympic stadium moved to its new name Stadio Grande Torino, but some users opposed the move, preferring the stadium's name be rendered in English. For example, Vicente Calderón Stadium and Santiago Bernabéu Stadium have the word "Stadium" appended in English, where it doesn't exist in the actual name; but for some articles, "Stadium" is included in a native language, e.g. Estadio Azteca or Stade de France Olmypic stadia names vary also: for example, Olympic Stadium (Berlin), Stadio Olimpico (Rome), Estadio Olímpico de Sevilla Some stadia also use their common, more popular name ahead of their formal one, and some the opposite:
Just my two cents. Erath 15:26, 30 June 2006 (UTC) + Boleyn Ground not Upton Park (its informal name). Philc TECI 15:53, 30 June 2006 (UTC) Draft proposal[edit]Well, seeing as no-one's taken up the issue, I'm going to do it myself, and unleash this proposal.
I'm not going to go madly renaming right away. What do you all think? Erath 12:25, 21 August 2006 (UTC) There are a number of stadium articles giving old-style UEFA star ratings and linking to the redesignated elite category. This template doesn't show either of these. As UEFA doesn't seem to publish a list, should the ratings be removed from all the stadium pages? If so, it might take some effort as fans will think their stadium is being dissed.--ML5 (talk) 11:45, 22 July 2010 (UTC) Sponsor related names[edit]Suggested guideline: Articles should be named in accordance with WP:COMMONNAME. Usually, this will not be related to a sponsorship deal (e.g. Dean Court not Fitness First Stadium) but in some cases the sponsored name will become the common name for a time (e.g. Emirates Stadium not Ashburton Grove). When writing about a stadium in other articles, the article name should be used unless there a specific reason to use the sponsored name. Cavrdg (talk) 06:34, 21 August 2010 (UTC) Stadium notability[edit]Hi, I'm MYS77. I have a question: other user (Lglukgl) created a page about the Passo das Emas stadium, but it was simply redirected to Luverdense. Have the stadiums a notability guideline or we can assume the list of Fully professional leagues as a guideline? (Also in the notability page there's nothing about the stadiums). |
