Dear Group,
I note we have been added to the project recently, and wanted to ask for help and advice in the continued efforts to develop Egyptian identification card controversy to be a really good article. Thank-you for your assistance.
Yours sincerely, Matarael 16:17, 1 January 2007 (UTC)
- I reviewed the article and found some inaccuracies. You may read the details at Talk:Egyptian identification card controversy/Comments. The article needs just some more little work to be a good article. --Meno25 01:32, 2 January 2007 (UTC)
- Dear Meno25,
- Thank-you for your excellent suggestions, I have incorporated them personally; I look forward to either a further list of tasks which require action, or a change in rating.
- Yours sincerely,
- Matarael 12:35, 4 January 2007 (UTC)
Khalil Kalfat
This article about a literary translator of Egypt was deleted due to lack of sources. The original creator came back after the closing of the AfD to dispute the deletion, and gave a list of a five newspaper articles in Arabic and French, some of which qualify as non-trivial coverage; however, he has not yet returned to provide further comment on the deletion review or offer to improve the article so it won't again be mistaken for a non-notable person. If anyone has time/interest to develop this article, please comment on Wikipedia:Deletion review/Log/2006 December 31#Khalil Kalfat. I will try to do a more thorough job in the future of tagging these so they show up at Wikipedia:WikiProject Deletion sorting/Egypt; didn't know his nationality until after the debate had already closed. Thanks! cab 04:02, 2 January 2007 (UTC)
- Done. The subject of the article is notable. We could create a user subpage for it until it is well written then move it to the Main name space. --Meno25 23:43, 3 January 2007 (UTC)
Portal:Egypt
We now need to create a portal for Egypt. We have 1 FA article, 1 A-Class article and 3 GA articles. --Meno25 05:47, 6 January 2007 (UTC)
- The portal was created at Portal:Egypt. --Meno25 07:45, 4 February 2007 (UTC)
Could someone please take a look at Rabeh Lotfy Gomaa which is currently nominated for deletion at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Rabeh Lotfy Gomaa? The subject might be notable if the content can be verified, but I am not even sure the article is even using the standard spelling of his name. --Metropolitan90 00:58, 18 February 2007 (UTC)
Mustafa Metwalli
The article Mustafa Metwalli is being considered for deletion at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Mustafa Metwalli. If someone could improve this stub with sources, or confirm that this actor is indeed non-notable, it would be helpful. Bucketsofg 21:05, 25 February 2007 (UTC)

Cinema of Egypt
Hi, I'd like all WP Egypt members to help place the {{CinemaofEgypt}} templates wherever needed. They should be placed at the bottom of articles on Egyptian films, actors, directors, producers, etc. Below is a preview of the template.
Thank you! - Anas Talk? 19:44, 13 March 2007 (UTC)
Bilateral relations discussion
I would like to invite you all to participate in a discussion at this thread regarding bilateral relations between two countries. All articles related to foreign relations between countries are now under the scope of WikiProject Foreign relations, a newly created project. We hope that the discussion will result in a more clean and organized way of explaining such relationships. Thank you. Ed ¿Cómo estás? 18:02, 8 April 2007 (UTC)

A new member
I've recently joined the project, I would like to participate in making better Egyptian articles, and creating those which do not exist yet. Before joining the project I've created two stub articles, Ahmed Ezz and Safwat El-Sherif. They're my first articles on wikipedia, and I'm having problems with Citing Sources, it seems to me that I am unable to fully understand the concept.
I can use a little introduction here from members, about how to contribute to the project and my responsibilities and priorities...etc.
Thanks. ñÅñÑüTalk 04:18, 5 July 2007 (UTC)
- Welcome to the 'pedia, Nour! Citing sources is one of the main purposes of this project. All content in Wikipedia must be verifiable and attributable. You need to cite secondary sources to verify the information. What are secondary sources you say? Such sources must be reliable, and independent of the subject.
- The "secondary sources" in the criterion include reliable published works in all forms, such as newspaper articles, books, and television documentaries except for the following:
- Press releases; autobiographies; advertising for the company, corporation, organization, or group; and other works where the company, corporation, organization, or group talks about itself — whether published by the company, corporation, organization, or group itself, or re-printed by other people. Self-published material or published at the direction of the subject of the article would be a primary source and falls under a different policy.
- Your responsibilities as a member of the project are to improve the existing articles, improve Wikipedia's coverage on Egyptian topics by creating new articles, and patrolling articles for maintenance and eliminating bias. I think what the project needs the most are GAs and FAs, but these aren't easy to get at all.
- Leave me a message in my talk page if you ever need my help. Happy editing! Anas talk? 10:49, 5 July 2007 (UTC)
Wikipedia:WikiProject Deletion sorting/Egypt
I've just added a link to Wikipedia:WikiProject Deletion sorting/Egypt on the project's main page. Please, keep an eye on it and list AFD discussions that are Egypt-related. — Zerida 19:48, 8 July 2007 (UTC)
Just a heads up that I created an article for this important event in Egyptian history, but it's only a start. Please feel free to expand and improve, as will I when I am finished with another article I'm working on at the moment. — Zerida 00:55, 23 July 2007 (UTC)

- Guys why isnt anybody helping ? and why do I feel that there is no progress in any requests on this Project ? ñÅñÑüTalk 09:35, 16 August 2007 (UTC)
I believe this very unique culture, with a one-of-a-kind alphabet Tifinagh and history dating back as far as ancient Egypt, merits its own WikiProject. There is a beautiful portal at Portal:Berbers, and I think Wikipedia would benefit greatly from this. Chris 02:19, 21 August 2007 (UTC)

Help with identification
Hi folks, I started the article Ali Pasha Sherif a while but I could use some assistance. In essence, everything on this fellow I have researched is about his history as a horse breeder, but the articles I used suggest that he had some significant influence in the Egyptian government of the mid-1800s. Problem is, the horse breeding histories are vague (one said he was the "president of the Chamber of Commerce" for crying out loud!) the titles and claims of his fame conflict, people confuse titles and honorifics with names, and in short, I can't find his father's name on the list of Governors of Damascus, which he supposedly was, I can't find Ali Pasha Sherif on the list of Foreign Ministers of Egypt (which allegedly he was) and basically, while the fellow obviously had money and political power from somewhere, my sources are neither definitive nor helpful. For all I know there is another wikipedia article on this fellow under a different name. Can you skim the article for me and let me know (on the talk page would be fine) if this fellow or his father, El Sayed Mohammed, went under other names and titles? Or edit to correct information? My stake in this is that the fellow was a significant breeder of Arabian horses, worth a study for that reason alone, but I also want the article itself to be an accurate biography of the whole person. Can anyone help? Help! Help!! Montanabw(talk) 05:16, 31 August 2007 (UTC)
Cairo Metro Article
I noticed that some of the stops were missing from the Cairo Metro Article, noticeably Sakenet Al Maadi, Maadi, and Hadiqet Al Maadi. Apart from that it is quite a good article and further more I was surprised and happy to find it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 62.139.85.155 (talk) 21:26, 17 September 2007 (UTC)
Sharm el Sheikh
Hello everyone,
My comments on the Sharm page of Wikipedia.
I was searching in Wikipedia to find out about the population of Sharm. I didn't find much information in the way of demographics. There's no mention of any challenging environmental issues that are unique to the delicate environment of the Sinai (both underwater and on land).
There's some very obvious marketing language used. The examples are too numerous to mention -- it needs to be read and then, edited. The beauty of Sharm/Sinai is obvious, there's no need to push the "glamorous nightlife" or the names of certain bars.

Requesting updated assessment
Hi folks--I'd like to request an updated assessment for Abu Mena, which has been significantly rewritten since its original assessment. Thanks! Dppowell 00:40, 23 October 2007 (UTC)
There is currently some controversy regarding the scope and title of the above article, and, potentially, other articles which may be related to the same subject. Editors interested in this project may be interested in that article as well. John Carter 14:01, 29 October 2007 (UTC)
Regarding the article about Kantar
Hello members of the Egyptian WikiProject. I've created an article about the Kantar, an Egyptian weight measure, but it's orphaned as no other article links to it. Please find an appropriate article to link to the Kantar one. It would be most helpful.--Ivo Emanuel Gonçalves talk / contribs (join WP:PT) 21:33, 25 November 2007 (UTC)
