DR Mexico Judge spelling. Oscar or Óscar

Most of the English references to the DR Mexico Judge are to Óscar Madrazo but the Spanish Language Wikipedia page is at Oscar Madrazo. (The difference is whether there is an accent on the capital O). On the one hand, I'd expect that the one with the accent would be correct (as an English speaker might drop it), but OTOH, I'd trust the spelling on the es.wiki. Which is correct? Note, this doesn't just affect DR:M but also Mexico's next top model and other pages.

Also, there *was* a page on en.wiki for him, but WP:PROD'ed in 2014 due to lack of references. (But I think that someone would be able to create a well referenced article on him *just* from 2019 Bravo coverage at this point. ) Naraht (talk) 13:11, 6 June 2023 (UTC)

The Spanish-language sources cited on es.wiki [1][2] include the accent mark, so it seems like RS support its use. Armadillopteryx 15:43, 6 June 2023 (UTC)
So the es.wiki article should be moved? and any en.wiki usages should be changed from O to Ó, correct?Naraht (talk) 18:10, 6 June 2023 (UTC)
That's what it seems like to me. Armadillopteryx 18:47, 6 June 2023 (UTC)

Umm, you might want to redirect this article to the draft article I made.. By the way, this is the official name: Draft:Drag Race Brasil. — JuanGLP (talk/contribs) 18:03, 12 July 2023 (UTC)
@Another Believer: either redirect both this existing article + season 1 to the draft and move it to the mainspace. — JuanGLP (talk/contribs) 18:21, 12 July 2023 (UTC)
@JuanGLP Sorry!, I was just copying over the spelling used in the source and forgot there was an ongoing draft. I was seeing more of "Brazil" in sources but I found a WOW source with "Brasil". I have redirected Drag Race Brazil, and submitted a request for Draft:Drag Race Brasil to be moved into the main space over the redirect at Drag Race Brasil since I cannot do this on my own. I think this should resolve things, though there are already links to Drag Race Brazil which may need to be corrected. ---Another Believer (Talk) 22:22, 12 July 2023 (UTC)
Yeah no problem, thank you!! 🙏 — JuanGLP (talk/contribs) 22:38, 12 July 2023 (UTC)
Note, at this point, there are each spelling is a redirect to the other in mainspace, which may generate some bot alert, but when we get Draft:Drag Race Brasil into mainspace, I think we should be OK. I'm not sure if Drag Race Brazil as a redirect should be viewed as a misspelling or a translated from another language though. Looking forward to having DR:B on mainspace. (I'm not going to try to fix the current links to the version with the Z until the version with the S makes mainspace, the "helpful" software that I use gets confused)Naraht (talk) 00:54, 13 July 2023 (UTC)

Use of Tussenvoegsel in RPDR articles.

The Wikipedia article on es.wiki for the Drag Race España Season 2 has the queen's name as Juriji der Klee, *not* Juriji Der Klee. The queen is Belgian and as such, I believe that the en.wiki usage should follow that, as most of the sources from Belgium have the lower case der, which is what would be used in Belgium. (If she was a Dutch Queen, the same name would have an upper case Der.)

However, I think that the true tie-breaker here should be her own site, which I can't reach from work. Could someone please take a look at https://www.juriji.com/ to see which way she uses the Tussenvoegsel? Naraht (talk) 17:35, 15 June 2023 (UTC)

On her website, her name is displayed in all caps, which is not helpful here. On Instagram, her name is written in all lower case, which is also not helpful. Her Facebook, Soundcloud, and YouTube say "Juriji der Klee". Her Twitter says "Juriji Der Klee". ---Another Believer (Talk) 17:53, 15 June 2023 (UTC)
Another Believer OK. Looks like you added the Uppercase redirect when the show was announced, and the lowercase this past Tuesday, so I'm probably bringing up things you've already considered. For her twitter, is there any use of the capital other than in the URL?Naraht (talk) 18:15, 15 June 2023 (UTC)
On Twitter, "Der" for her written name as well as her handle. ---Another Believer (Talk) 18:17, 15 June 2023 (UTC)

Sorting of Queens

Rankings when a queen was disqualified (US S4 and S12)

The ranking tables for RuPaul's Drag Race (season 4) and RuPaul's Drag Race (season 12) treat Willam and Sherry Pie as if they weren't disqualified; although their outcome is given as 'disqualified', they are listed in the 7th and 4th row respectively and the numbering of other contestants includes them as if they had placed 7th and 4th. The much more common practice when someone is disqualified is to discount them entirely, moving everyone who originally finished after them up a place.

As a secondary issue, I don't know how far we can rely on outside sources for this. One source (which I've since removed) in the season 12 article placed Jan 8th, rather than 7th, but also lists A’keria C. Davenport as having finished '3rd/4th' in season 11. This is how Wikipedia used to list her placement in that season, as she and Silky Nutmeg Ganache placed equally, until I changed it to the more conventional '3rd'. This leads me to think that this source in particular took its rankings from Wikipedia, making its use by Wikipedia self-referential. It may not be the only one, given there isn't an official list of placements. A.D.Hope (talk) 18:59, 22 May 2023 (UTC)

With Willam, she was eliminated/disqualified in the series, unlike SP. The episode continued with a BTM2, and it was assured someone was going to be eliminated. RuPaul told Willam to step up and told her she was found breaking the rules from production. She was disqualifed and made her 7th place.
Unlike for Sherry Pie, she was (originally) in the Top 4. Now of course, VH1 and WOW ultimately disqualified her from the competiton, before the second episode premiered. In the reunion, one the contestants acknownledge Dahlia Sin being in 13th place. And in Season 15, they revealed there would only be a Top 3, which the contestants says the series "haven't had a Top 3 since season 8". Jackie Cox was eliminated at 5th place, making Sherry, Gigi, Jaida, and Crystal, the Top 4 in the series. Though with the disqualification, it made her in 4th place.
JuanGLP (talk/contribs) 01:52, 23 May 2023 (UTC)
See, usually being disqualified would mean not placing at all. Maybe Drag Race operates a system where disqualified contestants retain their places, but we're going to need proof of that as it's unconventional. A.D.Hope (talk) 10:58, 23 May 2023 (UTC)

Roll up information

Also as a Roll up of the information above, if isn't clear, eswiki has articles on every single drag queen who has competed in DR:ES. After the stubs that Another Believer has created, there are three left that enwiki doesn't have in mainspace, all from Season 1: Arantxa Castilla-La Mancha, Drag Vulcano, and Hugáceo Crujiente. Noting that, given that there have certainly been queens in some of the season of RPDR that haven't met notability (Rebecca Glasscock although finishing 3rd in season 1...), I'm honestly curious as to whether all of these will stand. Note, from general comments, enwiki tends to have the tightest notability standards.Naraht (talk) 16:45, 23 August 2023 (UTC)

I agree, will be interesting to see if any of these are redirected or flagged for deletion. I will sleep fine at night if any of the pages are lost, but I see no harm in creating stubs when there are entries at other Wikipedia projects. That being said, I very much welcome stub expansions. I just wanted to get the ball rolling on these. I will also be curious to see which of these queens might get more coverage in the near future, once All Stars (Spain) contestants are confirmed. ---Another Believer (Talk) 16:50, 23 August 2023 (UTC)

Dropping into the Drafts Current

As of June 2022, The following draft space articles contain both the strings "Drag Queen" and "Drag Race"

In order, four drag queens who have been on the show, two announced Official DR series (sort of surprised we don't have DR:Deutschland), a producer/web personality *somewhat* connected to the show, and two queens who were inspired by. (I tried to do the equivalent in userspace to look for sandboxes, but there are *way* too many copies of the queens in mainspace.Naraht (talk) 19:00, 22 June 2023 (UTC)

The reason why there isn't a DR:Deutscheland, is because the only information we have is about the casting call and its streaming home. I created a draft for DR:Brasil because it was a potential adaptation back in 2017, and it released a teaser (just like DR:México). Sooner or later we could get a host ruveal and we'll move it to the mainspace. Deutscheland hasn't released a single piece of news, yet. — JuanGLP (talk/contribs) 20:05, 23 June 2023 (UTC)
The last three entries (one of which has been deleted) are not particularly relevant to this project. ---Another Believer (Talk) 13:42, 19 July 2023 (UTC)

Should it be 10 contestants or 11? Naraht (talk) 06:48, 29 September 2023 (UTC)

Technically it's eleven contestants, but due to the SA allegations being allegedly true, the network + production company cut her out like they did to Sherry Pie. Thankfully she was out early on, supposedly they kicked her out in Episode 2. Also, this isn't the first time when the BBC cover up their mistakes.
But I believe it should be ten contestants, out of respect for the victims, and there hasn't been any news surrounding the contestant. Sooner or later, if it brings the world's attention and there's credible resources against her and the series, well we just do our job and edit. — JuanGLP (talk/contribs) 07:05, 29 September 2023 (UTC)
What/who does SA stand for? Irrespective of "respect for the victims etc", the show is being portrayed as 10 contestants, that's what was announced and there's no actual confirmation officially that there was an 11th contestant (or a 12th, which apparently there was due to be but withdrew before production started) or than WP:SYNTHESIS of the editing of the show and speculation. Although said speculation is logical its not factual for wiki. >> Lil-unique1 (talk)22:33, 29 September 2023 (UTC)

IAR for Sugar and Spice in the contestants table?

Given that Los Angeles California isn't repeatedly linked, the fact that Sugar and Spice link to the same article, theoretically, one should be unlinked, or theoretically, each should be linked to a separate redirect. But I'm not sure that either answer is superior.Naraht (talk) 17:17, 10 October 2023 (UTC)

Duplicate linking is sometimes appropriate in tables. WP:Linking says, "Consider including links where readers might want to use them; for example, in article leads, at the openings of new sections, in the cells of tables, and in file captions." More specifically, MOS:REPEATLINK says, "Generally, a link should appear only once in an article, but it may be repeated if helpful for readers, such as in infoboxes, tables, image captions, footnotes, hatnotes, and at the first occurrence in a section." ---Another Believer (Talk) 17:34, 10 October 2023 (UTC)
@Naraht: Forgot to ping! I'm fine with linking both names in the table. ---Another Believer (Talk) 17:37, 10 October 2023 (UTC)
Another Believer I agree. If Sugar and Spice start doing things separately in their lives, then it may makes sense to at least make separate redirects, but for now...Naraht (talk) 22:59, 10 October 2023 (UTC)

ill template cleanup.

As a note, if there is a {{ill|queen drag name|es}} in an article because the queen has an article on Spanish (es) wikipedia and one is created in english, there is no need to replace the {{ill|queen drag name|es}} with [[queen drag name]] a bot will do that automatically, it runs fairly often.Naraht (talk) 03:38, 2 October 2023 (UTC)

Least coverage of Snatch Game roles...

DR:Philippines Season 2 had 9 queens with one playing two roles. Of the ten roles, only five are of people who have articles on Wikipedia (not just English Wikipedia, but all of them). Missing are Madam Inutz, Queen Dura, Sassa Gurl, Zenaida Seva, and Dionisia Dapidran-Pacquiao. All five are *mentioned* at some point on Wikipedia. For example, Dionisia Dapidran-Pacquiao is Manny Pacquiao's mother. Yes there is a link for Madam Inutz but as a redirect to Pinoy Big Brother: Kumunity Season 10. (Yes, I guess we could add that redirect)

I'm not sure if they are wiki notable, but it doesn't appear to have affected the results much. For the three at the bottom, one was the person playing two roles that are currently on Wikipedia and two are of people who have entries not on Wikipedia: Sassa Gurl and Dionisia Dapidran-Pacquiao.

So right now a mess...Naraht (talk) 00:23, 31 August 2023 (UTC)

At first, the article for Sassa Gurl was under template protection. Thankfully the person removed the protection, though I did redirect the article to Drag Den, since she is notable from that series. — JuanGLP (talk/contribs) 22:13, 14 September 2023 (UTC)

Number of New Queens this year?

Anyone have any guesses on the number of queens who will be on one of the RPDR Franchises without having been on one (so basically excluding the All-stars & vs. the World) before for shows premiering in 2023? I did a back of the envelope guess and came up with more than 100.Naraht (talk) 17:24, 18 September 2023 (UTC)

149 is my count, including the rumored cast of CAN4 Cornmazes (talk) 19:39, 22 September 2023 (UTC)
Sounds about right, there are 13 National shows in 2023 (DU, BE, BR, CA, FR, DACH, IT, MX, PH, ES, SV, UK & US) which means averaging between 11 & 12 per show. It also means that in order for Wikipedia to keep up, with some countries literally having pages for *all* queens in some languages, we are looking at 2 per week. Back of the envelope list, *Maybe* you could get to twice as many countries, but that is about it. Add Colombia, Chile(return) and Argentina in the Americas, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, India and Thailand(return) in Asia, South Africa and in Europe, Portugal and the Netherlands (return)

Potential Good articles?

Mistress Isabelle Brooks has been promoted to Good status. I'm trying to identify other biographies which might be close to meeting GA criteria with a bit of work. Sugar and Spice seems like an option, but do others come to mind? ---Another Believer (Talk) 17:57, 15 October 2023 (UTC)

Mention of Rick & Steve

The fact that RPDR is a replacement for "Rick & Steve: The Happiest Gay Couple in All the World" seems appropriate on the US page and maybe on the DR Franchise page, but right now it is part of the history of Drag Race UK, which seems a stretch. An anonymous user deleted it, I reverted, but now I'm not sure.Naraht (talk) 19:14, 15 September 2023 (UTC)

Hello, I would like to call your attention to this request since, as you can see in one of the Contestant progress table, someone has changed the code dedicated to queens finishing in the bottom. Previously it was viewed with the color ("lightpink"), while now it is represented by a dark red color ("#E23D28") that is confused with the current red color used for eliminated contestants.

I have tried to solve the problem myself but, currently, I have not been able to find the page used to create or edit the various colour boxes. So I kindly ask to someone more experienced to try to solve the problem and revert the original color of the box. I thank you in advance :) « Ðømīnīk Cåpuån » 10:04, 27 July 2023 (UTC)
