Mediation

[edit]

Dear editors of Pure Heroine: It seems you've got a bit of an issue regarding nomenclature of your article's category — specifically, whether or not it should be tagged as being "Art pop" or "Pop" for your music article. Firstly, I'd like to point out that article categorisation can be a little bit of a dark art; there is often no clear way of finding precisely the right category for a particular article topic, and these things happen quite frequently. So therefore, I have a question to all of you: could the article both be classed as "Pop" and as "Art pop" based on the available reliable sources? --Tristessa (talk) 21:09, 23 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Normally, I wouldn't mind, but I'm just wondering what procedure is better. Is it better to list something that's just listed on the side that has no real proof that it's written by the credited author? Or do we use something that's described in prose? I'm content either way really, but I'm just wondering which procedure is better to follow in the future. To settle mediation, having both signed is a-okay for me in this current state. I'm happy to list both, if we find a reliable source verifying that the album is art pop. Adabow (talk) 22:06, 23 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed solution

[edit]

Thank you for your replies, Andrzejbanas and Adabow. Does this mean we might potentially have a plan, then? Would you like me to list the proposed solution on the article's talk page, or would you prefer to make the suggestion yourself (or indeed, be WP:BOLD and make the edits)? Please hunt out the two required sources. Once you've found them, you can then add inline text to the article describing it as both with the WP:RS citations alongside it in {{cite}} templates, then add the categories. --Tristessa (talk) 23:19, 26 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Maybe to make it less biased, you could propose the change. Andrzejbanas (talk) 02:41, 16 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your reply, Andrzejbanas. I'll draft it shortly. --Tristessa (talk) 19:57, 17 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I have proposed the suggested compromise on the article talk page here. --Tristessa (talk) 20:35, 17 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Chairperson's closing proposal

[edit]

@Fruitloop11, Andrzejbanas, Helptottt, and Adabow: Based on the length of time since the last edits here, it would appear that this mediation may be ready to be closed as either resolved or stale. I have unsuccessfully attempted to contact the mediator, Tristessa de St Ange, through MedCom channels and would therefore propose to close this unless there is an good reason to keep it open. Unless I obtain a consensus to keep this open, I am going to close it after 13:00 UTC on Friday, 10 October 2014. For the Mediation Committee. Regards, TransporterMan (TALK) 18:11, 6 October 2014 (UTC) (current Chairperson)[reply]
