Adding medical refs under "Journal"?
I just added my first medical ref with ProveIt GT to the Syncope (medicine) article from this journal. From the medical refs I've seen, there is hotlink to the "PMID" number of the ref'd journal. How do I add the PMID number? (Note the PMID number in the linked journal in small print near the bottom of the abstract.) Raquel Baranow (talk) 03:08, 11 February 2015 (UTC)
- @Raquel Baranow: I've added PMID as a default parameter for journal references. Basically, this means it will now show up as a suggested field when you add a new journal reference. Superm401 - Talk 07:03, 9 March 2015 (UTC)
Unable to edit existing reference entry using OS X on Mac with Chrome browser
My friend just added the ProveIt gadget and tried editing an existing reference. She was using Chrome on OS X (10.2), and couldn't edit existing references because the edit button that appears at the right side of each reference entry does not appear. As far as I know, I have never run into this problem myself while using ProveIt with Chrome on Windows and Chromium on Linux. ozhu (talk·contribs) 22:43, 8 March 2015 (UTC)
- @Ozhu: Some references are not editable inside ProveIt. To investigate further, I would need to know the article. Superm401 - Talk 06:46, 9 March 2015 (UTC)
Screenshot
The screenshot of ProveIt shows an example with 225 references. Surely this image must be intimidating to new users. Most of the pages I edit with ProveIt have a dozen references or less. How about a new image with say 10 references in order to be more inviting to someone who is thinking about trying this easy-to-use tool.– Gilliam (talk) 01:57, 5 April 2015 (UTC)
New language request
Hi, is this the right place to ask for a new language support? If not, please point me in the right direction. I would like to request support of this extension for Czech wikipedia. Thanks for your answer. --Wesalius (talk) 05:39, 10 June 2015 (UTC)
- We'll have a new version out in a bit that will provide a clear, recommended way to port it to new languages. Mattflaschen - Talk 19:13, 10 June 2015 (UTC)
Noob question about 'invalid' references
I’m trying to use ProveIt, which seems very cool indeed, and I’ve gone through the tutorial but there’s one thing I can’t figure out — when a reference is highlighted in red as invalid, what exactly does that mean? Because I’m looking at one of these in an article (Cincinnati chili, the first reference in the article) and I don’t understand why it’s being marked as ‘invalid.’ Thanks for any help! valereee (talk) 11:38, 24 July 2015 (UTC)
- Whoops, sorry, just found the archives, duh. So my new question, also I'm sure a noob one -- can someone take a look and tell me what the likely incorrect or missing parameter is? I'll meantime take a closer look and see if I can figure it out. valereee (talk) 11:48, 24 July 2015 (UTC)
- Okay, I've made it turn not-red by putting New York Times in work instead of in newspaper, but is that really how I'm supposed to do it?
- You'll see some field types are bold, such as "Work" for {{cite news}}. That means those fields are mandatory and the reference will be displayed in red if not provided. Whether all those should be mandatory is a different question altogether though. TheMightyPeanut (talk) 12:01, 24 July 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks, TheMightyPeanut -- it probably has to do with Georgia Tech's MOS or their interpretation of Wikipedia's MOS. I'm sure I'll get used to it -- this tool is just so powerful that I think I can put up with a lot! :) valereee (talk) 12:04, 24 July 2015 (UTC)
- @TheMightyPeanut and Valereee: Yes, in this case 'newspaper' and 'work' are both valid synonymns, but the current version of ProveIt fails to recognize that. This is https://github.com/proveit-js/proveit/issues/201 . The new version has full support for aliases like this, and I will try to include this in the next release here. ProveIT not working on Drafts
ProveIT won't load on Draft pages for me which is kinda annoying, could someone please fix that? ;)
- @Aethyta: It should still work if you click the toolbar button. It's a P with yellow brackets. In the upcoming version, I will have it load by default (side note, I actually helped release the Draft namespace as part of my day job). Mattflaschen - Talk 04:47, 3 September 2015 (UTC)

ProveIt not updating edit form
I am a very occasional wiki editor. Tried editing a reference with your gadget for the first time today, but I've had no luck.
After changing a title in a reference and pressing the update button, the text area is not updated and my changes are lost after pressing preview button under the edit form. Following the User Guide, I tried the second top (atm) reference on Jeremy Corbyn page, changing the title and access date, and then another random ref in the text to no avail. I even thought it might be due to the page pending-changes protection, so tried a random article, Drainage basin with the same (lack of) result. What am I doing wrong?
I'm on Xubuntu Linux, using Firefox 12, but also tried Midori. I use Vector skin on Wiki. --Maryna (talk) 12:08, 16 September 2015 (UTC)
Switching off 'edited with' message
Hello, I love ProveIt, except for the message, I appreciate you want to 'get the word out', but … … I found these instructions for switching off:
To disable this message: Log in to Wikipedia. Go to your user script page. Find the line: importScript('User:ProveIt_GT/ProveIt.js'); On the previous line, add: proveit = { shouldAddSummary: false }; … … If it doesn't take effect immediately, you may want to (cache)
Trouble is I don't have a user script page, do I just need to create it and will it then load the script?
Thanks in advance
