TFA blurb review

[edit]

Meinhard Moser (13 March 1924 – 30 September 2002) was an Austrian mycologist. His work principally concerned the taxonomy, chemistry, and toxicity of the gilled mushrooms (Agaricales), especially the genus Cortinarius. Moser completed his doctorate at the University of Innsbruck in 1950, then briefly worked in England. He joined Austria's Federal Forestry Research Institute in 1952, conducting research on the use of mycorrhizal fungi in reforestation. He began lecturing at Innsbruck in 1956, becoming a professor in 1964. He became the inaugural head of Austria's first Institute of Microbiology in 1972. He remained with the Institute until his retirement in 1991, and his scientific studies continued until his death in 2002. He was an influential mycologist, describing around 500 new fungal taxa and publishing several important books. In particular, his 1953 book on European mushrooms, published in English as Keys to Agarics and Boleti, saw several editions both in German and in translation. (Full article...)

Just a suggested blurb ... thoughts and edits are welcome. - Dank (push to talk) 18:16, 23 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Dank: Looks good at first glance, apart from the last line. The taxa named in his honour are different from the taxa he described. I'd drop the some...honour but add something about his most significant guidebook. Let me have a play. Josh Milburn (talk) 20:10, 23 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Dank: I've moved some things around; what do you think? Josh Milburn (talk) 20:19, 23 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
It's 1193 characters now. The max is 1025. Find a couple of sentences to cut. - Dank (push to talk) 20:33, 23 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. Leave it with me. Josh Milburn (talk) 05:37, 24 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I've cut it down; I think we're where we need to be now, though I may have cut it a little too far... Josh Milburn (talk) 18:00, 24 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
1019, length is great, but it would be better to translate the German title. - Dank (push to talk) 18:12, 24 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Great; used the English title, and now at 1024 words. Josh Milburn (talk) 18:55, 24 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Tiny tweak to make the copyeditors happy. Looks great. - Dank (push to talk) 19:21, 24 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
