Interchange diagram
The complex interchange between NY 8, NY 12, NY 5, I-790 and NY 49 ([1]) in Utica. A diagram of it would be a great feature for all five articles - especially NY 12, where I found it somewhat difficult to describe the movements in words. --TMF Let's Go Mets - Stats 07:31, 29 February 2008 (UTC)

Getting ready for GA nomination. Thanks in advance. Davemeistermoab (talk) 05:45, 15 March 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks, Can this be rotated? (not familiar with GIS software, still trying to get up and running myself). It looks good, but with the state at an angle is causing to display small with a lot of whitespace. If not, no worries. Thanks. Davemeistermoab (talk) 15:22, 20 March 2008 (UTC)
- I could if needed. I just try to keep similar projections for all maps. It's still going to have some whitespace issues. 25or6to4 (talk) 11:26, 21 March 2008 (UTC)
- I generally use a Lambert conformal conic (I think - I could load it up if you want to be sure) centered roughly on the middle of the state. --NE2 22:45, 22 March 2008 (UTC)
- Same here—though for the maps I made of Pennsylvania Routes I focus it either in northern or southern Pennsylvania. 哦,是吗?(О кириллицей) 23:00, 22 March 2008 (GMT)
- Every state has one or more state plane projections, which is what I used when focusing on a single state. I dunno if these are built into QGis or whichever software you are using. Strato|sphere 22:18, 24 March 2008 (UTC)

I made the canvas smaller and deleted the outer border (as well as some tiny artifacts outside of the Nevada outline which probably were doing nothing but making the file bigger). Does it display any better now? —Scott5114↗ [EXACT CHANGE ONLY] 19:15, 22 March 2008 (UTC)
- Image looks good. I had the right projection, I just had it oriented on the central US. Now that I figured out how to adjust that, I have made a rotated image, if interested. 25or6to4 (talk) 18:17, 23 March 2008 (UTC)

- The projection is better, but the image needs to have the width cropped. I tried, but am giving up in frustration. Inkscape is not exactly user friendly. SorryDavemeistermoab (talk) 03:54, 27 March 2008 (UTC)
- May I ask why the image needs to be cropped? I just use the same image size due to MTF designation and since it's difficult to resize my workspace on ArcGIS. Just wondering. And I definitely agree on Inkscape friendliness. 25or6to4 (talk) 10:13, 27 March 2008 (UTC)
- Sorry, I figured out how to do it last night. The image is fixed now. Thanks for creating it. Just trying to figure out how to crop it, I started to get a feel for how difficult it must have been to create it. On the US 50 page it was getting squeezed horizontally. Nevada looked like New Hampshire =-). Thanks again Davemeistermoab (talk) 15:05, 27 March 2008 (UTC)

More of advice-seeking than an actual request, especially since NE2 indicated above he'd be willing to make new maps for Washington. The current map for this article is low quality, and grossly inaccurate. (The route isn't perfectly east-west, and does not extend east of I-5.) While I wait for a new map, is this a case of no map is better than a bad map? In addition to removing it from the article, it's uploaded to Wikipedia instead of Commons, so I could send it to IFD on low quality/unencyclopedic grounds.
I should also point out that there's no great rush for this particular article to have a map, since it's currently a stub, and may be stuck there for a bit while I work on more pressing matters. -- Kéiryn talk 09:59, 15 March 2008 (UTC)
Interstate 80 in Utah / Interstate 84 in Utah
I need a map for I-80 (UT) and I-84 (UT), just like the ones on I-70 (UT) and I-15 (UT). Thanks 71.35.237.195 (talk) 04:33, 21 March 2008 (UTC)

- Thank you! Not to be picky, but can the state be rotated to match the I-15 (Utah) and I-70 (Utah) articles, just for uniformity's sake. If not, it's alright, I got what I needed. Thanks again - CountyLemonade (talk) 16:24, 22 March 2008 (UTC)
- Ok, images have been rotated, but now the articles have smooshed pictures, and I'm not understanding why. LMK. 25or6to4 (talk) 18:09, 23 March 2008 (UTC)

The current map is inaccurate; it appears to show SR 509's routing prior to 1992. It should follow Marine View Drive instead of 11th Street near its southern terminus [2], and should be concurrent with SR 99 and SR 516 between Midway and Des Moines. -- Kéiryn talk 00:21, 11 March 2008 (UTC)
- If you're willing to wait a few days, I've started work on GIS data that should allow me to make maps of every route in Washington, like I did for California. --NE2 12:19, 11 March 2008 (UTC)
- Don't care much when it happens. Just figured I'd let people know the current map is inaccurate. :-) -- Kéiryn talk 22:12, 11 March 2008 (UTC)
Done. I'll start making more in a bit, after this is confirmed to be good. --NE2 02:56, 17 March 2008 (UTC)
- I definitely prefer this version with the thinner lines (ignoring for a moment that it's missing a lake :-P) I think it's a lot crisper and easier to read. Other than that, it has my stamp of approval, and the inaccuracies in the old map have been solved. -- Kéiryn talk 03:44, 17 March 2008 (UTC)
- Is it all the lines or just the SR 509 line that looks too thick? --NE2 04:22, 17 March 2008 (UTC)
- Definitely just the SR 509 line. And while I like the idea of highlighting the article route further by making it thicker, that doesn't seem to be the way most of the maps we make do it. -- Kéiryn talk 14:09, 17 March 2008 (UTC)
- For what its worth, I always make the red line 3px even though the guidelines say 2px/3px depending on road type. That should probably be changed, IMO. Cheers. Strato|sphere 22:06, 17 March 2008 (UTC)
- I will also throw in a mention that I also make the highlighted line 3px for everything. 25or6to4 (talk) 18:03, 22 March 2008 (UTC)

What do you think now? I think if the red line's any thinner it doesn't stand out enough. --NE2 00:15, 18 March 2008 (UTC)
- Seems okey-doke to me. :-) -- Kéiryn talk 04:00, 18 March 2008 (UTC)
I'll create a few more soon (SR 20 for a cross-state route and a ferry, SR 109 for an unconstructed portion) and then give it a day or so to make sure there are no problems. --NE2 05:34, 18 March 2008 (UTC)
How do tho SR 20 and SR 109 maps look? --NE2 06:41, 18 March 2008 (UTC)
- The maps look great. However, since State Route 20 Spur has its own article, I would remove that portion of the route from the SR 20 map. -- Kéiryn talk 14:21, 18 March 2008 (UTC)
- I was thinking about that - obviously some spurs are too insignificant to have articles, while others (like 20 Spur) are significant. How should I decide which to include? Should 20 Spur be treated differently because it's separately defined in state law? --NE2 19:18, 18 March 2008 (UTC)
- From what I can tell, most of the "spurs" are just short segments (less than a mile) providing a cutoff at an intersection or something like that. SR 20 Spur should definitely be treated differently for the reason you mentioned, I would also add SR 105 Spur to that short list. Any of the other ones that currently have their own articles should probably be merged into the parent route. -- Kéiryn talk 05:24, 20 March 2008 (UTC)
- I don't know if I'd include SR 105 Spur - it's really an integral part of the route, and has been there since 1937. But I'll start making other maps, since this won't affect the maps that aren't of these routes with spurs. --NE2 04:25, 24 March 2008 (UTC)

I've made maps for every current route. If you want any former routes, let me know, including when you want it from if the route's changed over the years (I'm specifically thinking of SR 901). --NE2 13:10, 24 March 2008 (UTC)

As it would be impractical to make an exit list or major intersections guide. I think a map would be the best next step to improve this article. Plus I think it would be a cool map too =-). There is a chance for confusion, in that 3 governmental agencies are involved in this byway. All 3 have errors in their maps for a the part of the byway that is outside their jurisdiction:

SR 64 is discontinuous through Grand Canyon National Park, also if you could add the park to the map, that would be great as well since that is the main destination for people that use this highway (probably add the park to SR 67 as well. SR 66 is a strange highway, it doesn't connect to I-40 at the eastern end. The highway leaves Mohave County, enters Coconino County, briefly enters Yavapai County before going back into Coconino County. The road itself only stays in Coconino a brief time the second time before entering Yavapai again, but it is in this stretch that SR 66 officially ends. --Holderca1 talk 02:26, 6 May 2008 (UTC)

(de-indent?)Here's Rush St. image:RushSt(Chicago)map.svg 25or6to4 (talk) 04:46, 14 May 2008 (UTC)
Wow!!! Nobody notified me so I created maps and posted them to commons for Image:Rush Street via tiger.census.gov.gif and Image:Michigan Boulevard District From TIGER.gif. I will compare and decide what to do.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTM) 15:48, 21 May 2008 (UTC)
- Although I like your Rush Street (Chicago) map better, I like several things about my Historic Michigan Boulevard District map better. Compare Image:HistoricMichiganBoulevardDistrictmap.svg with Image:Michigan Boulevard District From TIGER.gif. Is it possible that you guys could add the Grant Park (Chicago) color the Lake Shore Drive shield and extend a bit west to show the I-90.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTM) 16:00, 21 May 2008 (UTC)
- I have some quibbles with your Rush Street map. At the north end you use the red line for one block too long. It ends at Cedar as stated in the infobox. Also on the south end, you label the final cross steet as Water. It is stll labelled Kinzie at least to the immediate west of Rush. Water may begin to the east. I will check next time I pass by. See my version and check the source of that map.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTM) 16:13, 21 May 2008 (UTC)
- Ok, I updated the map. The road naming was from the GIS data set I used from the City of Chicago. The dataset noted the northern section as Rush St. and not, I'm guessing, State St. I don't have access to ArcGIS until tomorrow at the earliest, so I can't check where Kinzie ends and Water begins, so I just deleted the Water St. label and moved the Kinzie label over a bit. And I recolored Lakshore Dr. Comments welcome. 25or6to4 (talk) 12:56, 27 May 2008 (UTC)
- I forgot to mention that the Wrigley Building has North Water Inscribed in its stone face on the eastern corner. The signs also say that Kinzie stops at Rush and Water continues for the last few feet. On GIS it might get confusing because this is part of the Multilevel streets in Chicago.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTM) 14:09, 27 May 2008 (UTC)
- P.S. it seems that Borman Expressway got omitted from the original USRD/MTF posting when it got moved over here. Can you include that in this request or should I make a new request at the bottom of the page.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTM) 16:19, 21 May 2008 (UTC)
- Complete. Forgot to post it. image:BormanExpresswaymap.svg 25or6to4 (talk) 16:07, 27 May 2008 (UTC)

I'm using the limited time I have to request a map for SR-201, without shields if possible. Also, could the freeway portion be distinguished from the expressway portion in some way? Thanks - CL — 05:19, 11 May 2008 (UTC)

- For sake of space, I'm filing one more request here. I need a map for Utah State Route 39 as well, also without shields, same as above. Regards, CL — 01:28, 23 May 2008 (UTC)
- Image:Utah Route 39 map (no shields).png. For 126, there isn't any data in the NHPN data sets, so I'll do that one later (or if someone else wants to do it, that's fine) - Algorerhythms (talk) 15:45, 25 May 2008 (UTC)
- Thank you so much, Algorerhythms! Don't worry about the 126 - CL — 15:51, 25 May 2008 (UTC)
- Oh, and when the 126 map is made, could it have some sort of border around it such as... Image:Utah SR 201 map.svg? It just makes it a little more visible. Thanks - CL — 17:35, 25 May 2008 (UTC)
- Complete. Accidentally added shields, though, but they can be removed, as requested. image:Utah SR 126 map.svg 25or6to4 (talk) 16:29, 27 May 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks, 25or6to4. I guess the shields aren't that big of a problem, but if you have time on your hands you can remove them if you want. No worries. Thanks again, Alogorerhythms and 25or6to4. CL — 21:39, 27 May 2008 (UTC)
