Proposals, May 2011
Please check how many articles qualify for a stub type before proposing it.
If (after approval) you create a stub type, please be sure to add it to the list of stub types. This page will be archived in its entirety once all discussions have been closed; there is no need to move them to another page.

The result of the debate was rename and slap pegship with a trout :P .
Back in December this cat was created, along with a correctly formed {{Oregon-org-stub}} template; I can only speculate that someone was hitting the egg nog when naming the category. Rename to Category:Oregon organization stubs. Pegship (talk) 00:00, 1 June 2011 (UTC)
- Usually handled through SFD< but with such an obvious one I don't see any reason why it shouldn't bee speedied....hey....Pegship! Welcome back! Grutness...wha? 01:03, 1 June 2011 (UTC)

Discuss! Waacstats (talk) 10:22, 30 May 2011 (UTC)
- My own tendency would be to support the second one. I think by-party stubbing tends to make more sense due to the manner in which it winnows down the number of stubs available. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 14:20, 31 May 2011 (UTC)

I am proposing a speedy creation stub (if that's how you phrase it) for Australian ports, docks and marinas. It fits because it is nationwide and... yeah, see S2.
This stub can fit under so many like Akuna Bay, New South Wales, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bundaberg_Port, rowra Waters, New South Wales]], Challenger Harbour, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fremantle_Fishing_Boat_Harbour, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hillarys_Boat_Harbour, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nelson_Bay,_New_South_Wales, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Two_Rocks,_Western_Australia and most of them under http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_ports_in_Australia. Please create.
- Oppose. This isn't a speedy, because there aren't 60 stubs for it. There aren't 60 articles in the parent permcat - for the very good reason that there is no permcat (which makes the creation of a stub type questionable in itself). In any case, the articles are almost certainly better sorted by their respective geo types, especially since several of the ones you list cover not only the ports themselves but the towns or suburbs which surround them. Grutness...wha? 01:47, 31 May 2011 (UTC)

The result of the debate was create both for Cz, template for USSR.
Oversized and two templates are over the 60 mark so propose the following
- {{Czechoslovakia-footy-competition-stub}} - Category:Czechoslovak football competition stubs
- {{USSR-footy-competition-stub}} - Category:Soviet football competition stubs
Speedy? Waacstats (talk) 22:37, 29 May 2011 (UTC)
- Only problem with the USSR one is that it makes Category:Soviet sport stubs undersized. SeveroTC 11:08, 31 May 2011 (UTC)
- Support all except the second category (Category:Soviet football competition stubs) - that in time. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 14:19, 31 May 2011 (UTC)
- Support both. But then, I personally don't have a problem with undersized parent categories, as long as the children are all properly sized. Dawynn (talk) 13:31, 1 June 2011 (UTC)

I was quite surprised to discover that there's no {{Martinique-bio-stub}}, even though there's a need for it (and other French overseas territories are so covered); furthermore, I think we could do well to create {{Martinique-politician-stub}}, as there is a new user creating a spate of French overseas politicians stubs. While it is true that Category:Sculpture stubs doesn't yet need splitting (and has quite a number of sculptor articles in it which shouldn't be there, I think a separate stub for monuments and memorials would be useful and would almost certainly get to the threshold for a separate category (Category:Monument and memorial stubs). A quick coulty shows that over 450 of the current sculpture stubs have either the word "monument" or "memorial" as part of their name, and it's likely that many others in the category would qualify for this proposed stub type. Grutness...wha? 01:48, 25 May 2011 (UTC)
- I'm not 100% convinced by the template name, the reason being that in the Netherlands the equivalent of a graded property or NRHP is called a reiksmonument often shortened to monument so things could get confusing. I dont think {{memorial-stub}} would be much better either and putting both in there would be unecessarily large template name. Waacstats (talk) 09:21, 26 May 2011 (UTC)
- What about creating a stub tag for the latter titled {{Rijksmonument-stub}}? (Apologies if I've got the spelling wrong). I think a monument stub tag would be a great help, yes. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 13:35, 26 May 2011 (UTC)
- I was just pointing out that linking monuments to sculptures would be problematic. A {{Reiksmonument-stub}} would be the dutch equivalent of {{NRHP-stub}}, may be a {{Sculpture-monument-stub}} would be better.Waacstats (talk) 23:12, 2 June 2011 (UTC)

Category:Richmond County, Virginia geography stubs mess; split?
- The following discussion is an archived debate of the proposed creation of the stub template and/or category above. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on the template's or category's talk page (if any). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the debate was correct template.
The template for the stub (Template:RichmondVA-geo-stub), when compared to the category it links to, has resulted in a geographically inaccurate goof. Richmond, Virginia refers to an the independent capital city in the central part of the state, whereas Richmond County, Virginia is an unrelated rural county located a good distance away (see the leads of both articles for more to back that up). Thus the template used refers to the city, whereas the category refers to the county, and the articles marked with it are a jumbled mess of both. Please advise! Morgan Riley (talk) 22:01, 19 May 2011 (UTC)
- Those related to Richmond city should use {{RichmondCityVA-geo-stub}} so the template needs ammending and the articles relating to the city need moving. Waacstats (talk) 19:59, 20 May 2011 (UTC)

The Frech rail station category is grossly undersorted. Catscan indicates that the better share of Category:France rail stubs actually belongs here. A simple conservative catscan size-based search through Category:Railway stations in France shows over 900 articles that can be placed here. In order to reduce time spent on extra tagging, I'm asking that templates be made available for each of the regional subcategories found in Category:Railway stations in France. I propose the following templates. The categories are also being reserved here, but will only be built if they can be properly filled:
- {{Alsace-railstation-stub}} / Category:Alsace rail station stubs

As mentioned in a recent discussion at WT:WSS, there are currently only a handful of countries with their own restaurant-stub subtypes. I think we at the very least need to add a few of the major ones. The following would each be used on more than half a dozen stubs:
- {{Australia-restaurant-stub}}
- {{Belgium-restaurant-stub}}
- {{PRChina-restaurant-stub}}
- {{Germany-restaurant-stub}}
- {{India-restaurant-stub}}
- {{Ireland-restaurant-stub}}
- {{Italy-restaurant-stub}}
- {{Japan-restaurant-stub}}
A generic {{Europe-restaurant-stub}} might be useful as well, since there are a large number of countries in Europe with three or four stubs. Grutness...wha? 01:10, 13 May 2011 (UTC)

Propose two new category / template sets:
- Category:French rail station stubs / {{France-railstation-stub}}. Catscan indicates 61 articles to be pulled from Category:Railway station stubs and Category:European rail station stubs.
- Category:Finnish rail station stubs / {{Finland-railstation-stub}}. Catscan indicates 38 articles can be pulled from Category:Railway station stubs and Category:European rail station stubs, but potential 74 articles based on size.
As always, will build template first, and only build category if enough articles can be found. Dawynn (talk) 18:50, 11 May 2011 (UTC)

Propose the following:
- {{animal-anatomy-stub}}. Permcat Category:Animal anatomy
- {{animal-physiology-stub}}. Permcat Category:Animal physiology
- {{ethology-stub}}. Permcat Category:Ethology
Just the templates for now, for exploration of possible categories. Dawynn (talk) 13:43, 5 May 2011 (UTC)

Propose continental-level templates and categories:
- {{Africa-railstation-stub}} / Category:African rail station stubs.
- No current subcategories. Build template first, category if 60 articles.
- {{Asia-railstation-stub}} / Category:Asian rail station stubs. Parent for:
- {{Europe-railstation-stub}} / Category:European rail station stubs. Parent for:
- {{NorthAm-railstation-stub}} / Category:North American rail station stubs. Parent for:
- {{Oceania-railstation-stub}} / Category:Oceanian rail station stubs.
- No current subcategories. Build template first, category if 60 articles.
- {{SouthAm-railstation-stub}} / Category:South American rail station stubs.
- No current subcategories. Build template first, category if 60 articles.
Most of the 300+ articles in Category:Railway station stubs should be able to find a home in one of these continental categories. Only general-level articles about types of railway stations, and similar general interest articles should remain. Dawynn (talk) 11:49, 5 May 2011 (UTC)

Looks like the following genus-level categories may be viable:
- Category:Apamea stubs / {{Apamea-stub}}. 73 articles.
- Category:Lasionycta stubs / {{Lasionycta-stub}}. Appears to be near 60. Template viable, will reserve on category until 60 articles found.

Speedy proposal. To pick up {{MTR-stub}}. I realize that this one has been deleted before, because of reasons posted here. I'm seeing the previous deletion was because:
- Category was undersized. Template {{MTR-stub}} is now on 84 articles.
- Category was "cryptically named". But there is a permcat called Category:MTR. And there is also a Category:MTR Corporation for the parent company, which explains the name of the child category.
I realize that this will wipe out most of the Category:Hong Kong rapid transit stubs. However, as has been pointed out here, many of the MTR articles have nothing to do with rapid transit. Dawynn (talk) 14:05, 2 May 2011 (UTC)

Parent is finally off the oversized list but can shrink more. Propose speedy Category:Atsimo-Andrefana geography stubs. 89 stubs tagged with the template. Aelfthrytha (talk) 00:00, 1 May 2011 (UTC)

There are many stubs that should be created, but aren't. Examples:
- {{Punk-stub}} Punk rock stub
- {{Rock-stub}} Rock music stub
- {{Grunge-stub}} Grunge music stub
- {{Rock 'n' Roll-stub}} Rock 'n' Roll music stub
- {{Techno-stub}} Techno music stub
- {{Alternative-stub}} Alternative rock stub
Those are just some I would love to see created. Logan The Master (talk) 18:45, 18 May 2011 (UTC)
- While I have no problem with most of these concepts, I would suggest some different names:
- {{punkmusic-stub}} for Punk rock stubs. (Note: already exists)
- {{rock-music-stub}}. Just so geologists don't take over your template.
- {{grunge-music-stub}}. Keeping it tied to music, in case there are any questions.
{{Rock 'n' Roll-stub}}- We don't allow spaces in template names.
- In many minds, this is synonomous with rock music, as admitted by article Rock and roll. Keeping the two separate would be a nightmare. Especially since...
- There is no permcat for rock and roll. Even article Rock and roll is satisfied with attaching to both Category:Rock music and Category:Pop music.
- {{techno-music-stub}}. So people don't think its an abbreviated template for Category:Technology stubs.
- {{alt-rock-music-stub}}. Helps tie to other templates like {{Alt-rock-album-stub}}, and again -- keeps the geologists away.

- Only just found this - thanks to it being put at the wrong place on the page. Given that the punk one is at punkmusic-stub, the others should follow suit, surely - at rockmusic-stub, grungemusic-stub, etc... eithe that or the punk one need renaming that to {{punk-music-stub}} (probably a better idea). Will suggest it at SFD. Grutness...wha? 13:07, 5 July 2011 (UTC)
