Emma Mellow is a New Zealand politician and Member of Parliament in the House of Representatives for the electorate of Auckland Central.
Early life
[edit]Mellow grew up in One Tree Hill, Auckland, and attended St Cuthbert's College.[1] She has a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Auckland.[2] She has worked as a lifeguard at Bondi Beach,[3] a communications adviser at Sydney Airport, and a senior communication manager at ANZ Bank New Zealand.[4]

Mellow was selected as the National Party candidate for Auckland Central on 10 August 2020 following the retirement of Nikki Kaye. Mellow had been inspired to join the National Party by Kaye herself. The selection process was wrought with controversy,[4] culminating in the resignation of National Party board member Roger Bridge.[5]
In the 2020 election Mellow defeated Helen White of the Labour Party and Chlöe Swarbrick of the Green Party in a tight three-way race. Both White and Swarbrick entered parliament on their respective party lists.
