Here members can ask for help in creating protein images that do not yet exist, replacing protein images with restrictive copyrights, or pathway diagrams. All images covered by a non-commercial uses disclaimer should be replaced by molecular model images generated by Wikipedia users themselves. This can be done using the raw structural data from the Protein Data Bank, the contents of which are in the public domain. Please also see our discussion about how to standardize the depiction of proteins.
If you have the urge to work on rendering proteins or pathway diagrams, this is a good place to start. Feel free to add this page to your watchlist.
At some point it would be great if some of our "bioartists" could get together and collaborate on a getting started image creation guide, not so much a complete how to as here are two or three examples and these are the packages and settings used. For images of proteins and other biomolecules, we have created a PyMol tutorial to help users get started using the PyMol visualization software.

Automatic protein image requests here
[edit]Pages with a {{protein}} which do not have a protein image are automatically categorised in the Category: Protein pages needing a picture.
New protein images requested here
[edit]Here members may request protein images that do not yet exist by specifying the protein and article name, and any additional and relvant information. When someone generates, uploads and adds the protein to the article, they will then delete the entry on this page, and add a link to their artwork in the showcase below.

Pathway diagrams requested here
[edit]- For metabolic pathway diagrams see the [WikiProject Molecular and Cellular Biology/Metabolic Pathways task force|Metabolic Pathways task force]]
Here members may request pathway diagrams by specifying the page name, the pathway and (at least roughly) the components desired in the pathway representation (ie. p53, Mdm2, ARF and p21). When someone generates the pathway diagram and adds it to the page, they will then delete the entry on this page, and add a link to their artwork in the showcase below.
