Wikipedia:WikiProject Georgia (U.S. state)/Task forces and work groups
Main page | Assessment | Members | Work groups | Articles | New Georgia Encyclopedia | Templates | Popular pages | Portal | Deletions |
These are Task forces and work groups for WikiProject Georgia (U.S. state). The Task forces are meant to provide centralized information and discussion for topics that have a sufficiently large scope. The advantages of establishing a new group as a task force or work group within an existing project are that generally, task forces required for the new ire fewer members to be effective and do not have the same degree of required project maintenance, as much of that is taken on by the parent project.
Current work groups
[edit]The currently organized task forces are:
- Georgia Education Task Force - This task force focuses on Georgia's educational articles to include colleges, universities, high schools, Georgia Board of Regents, local boards of education and other related articles.
- Atlanta task force - This task force aims to improve coverage of Atlanta and Atlanta metropolitan area.
- South Georgia (U.S. state) task force - This task force is centered on topics dealing with the greater Albany/Savannah/Valdosta (South Georgia) area.
Proposed work groups
[edit]Several new task forces have been proposed. The purpose of this section is to gauge user interest in each of these areas of the project before putting a lot of effort into creating a detailed project page. If you're interested in any of the projects listed here, simply add your name to the appropriate list and start contributing to the relevant articles.

- I approve of this new task force to be created. Tamer_of_Hope talk 06:32, 2 August 2011 (UTC)
- This would go along nicely with the South Georgia taskforce. - Presidentman talk·contribs Random Picture of the Day (Talkback) 11:07, 3 August 2011 (UTC)
- We will need to decide if Columbus and Augusta need to be part of the Central Georgia group. Mr.Atoz (talk) 18:54, 3 August 2011 (UTC)
- Columbus is more in a region with Alabama. Augusta is too far away to really be considered part of central Georgia. They are in a unique location though because they're on the border of the south georgia task group but not far enough to really be in a northern group. I'm not sure what to classify Augusta or really Columbus, unless there was a south, central, north, east, west task groups with special exceptions for education, atlanta, and transportation. Tamer_of_Hope talk 00:42, 6 August 2011 (UTC)
North Georgia Task Force
[edit]- Description
- A task force covering North Georgia - Atlanta metropolitan area, North Georgia mountains, etc. (Major cities: Atlanta, Dalton, Gainesville)
- Interested Wikipedians (please add your name)
- Presidentman (talk · contribs)
- Tamer_of_hope (talk · contribs)
- LadyofShalott (talk · contribs) - Athens-Clarke County is not listed, but I assume would be part of such a task force's scope.
- Thomson200 (talk · contribs)
- TadgStirkland401 (talk · contribs)

I just thought that if we add the above task force (Central GA), we should have one for North GA to make it complete. - Presidentman talk·contribs Random Picture of the Day (Talkback) 11:10, 3 August 2011 (UTC)
Proposing a Work Group or Task Force
[edit]If you would like to set up a new group specifically to function as a task force of this project, please list it in the Proposed Projects section above as this area is used to gauge support for potential task forces. Please write a brief description (including links to the related Wikipedia articles), and add it along with your name to the list below (in alphabetical order by topic). Some boilerplate you can use:
==== Name of work group==== ; Description : [description here] ; Interested Wikipedians (please add your name) # [your name here] ; Comments
If your proposal gains support from 5-10 active Wikipedians, it could probably benefit the WikiProject as a Task Force or Work Group. If you want to start a page before you have 5-10 active Wikipedians, consider setting up the page on a subpage of your user page until it is active, while leaving the posting here with a link to the user page.
Archived work group proposals
[edit]In the event a given proposal does not receive sufficient support within 4 months of posting here to create a task force, it should be moved to this listing.
