However, first and foremost, this WikiProject already has its first mission. That of the primary subject – Track and field athletics. I believe that this should be moved to the title Athletics and should be a summary of the entire topic: e.g. track, field, marathon, road running, cross country etc. The "track and field" moniker has gone on for too long. The primary subject should clearly be plain "athletics" when the world organisation, the Olympics, all the continental organisations (including NACAC which includes the US) all refer to it as such. Furthermore, track and field does not cover all athletics events. Track and field could either form it's own daughter article at track and field or perhaps even two sub-articles to the athletics parent, that of track events and field events. A hatnote can disambiguate for the American usage of athletics as Sport in general. See Talk:Track and field athletics for more information.
