Request on 03:04:51, 11 July 2017 for assistance on AfC submission by Nmmoore

[edit]

For my page it says that it is an orphan. I recently linked the ECAR wiki page on the Guilford College wiki page yet it still says that my ECAR page is an orphan. I'm confused as to what else I can do. Does the ECAR page need to be linked to more wiki pages?

Nmmoore (talk) 03:04, 11 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Nmmoore, the article Every Campus a Refuge (note that it is no longer a draft) has only one incomming link from another article, Guilford College. Try to find other colleges that are also participating in the project and add brief content about their involvement in those articles. An article is regarded as an orphan if fewer than three other articles link to it. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 07:16, 11 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I submitted an article on Billy Christmas, the famous turn of the 20th century Canadian athlete. I have a photo of Mr. Christmas in his Montreal Lacrosse Club uniform, taken in 1898. How do I submit that photo? Thank you.

Jud Hudon (talk) 04:37, 11 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Please remove this article. It is much to short. I have submitted a slightly longer revision with 14 reneges instead of 7. That one says what I want to say. I hope you agree. Thank you. Jud Hudon (talk) 13:41, 11 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@JudHudson: If you own the copyright to the photograph, upload it at Wikimedia Commons. With regards to your articles, I am assuming you are referring to Draft:William Cecil Christmas and Draft:Billy Christmas. There is no need to set up a new draft every-time you edit the article; you can amend and resubmit an existing draft as many times as you like. I will however note that the formatting on William Cecil Christmas is much superior to Billy Christmas, as the references are properly formatted as well as the section headers. I would therefore move the text from Billy Christmas to William Cecil Christmas whilst retaining the formatting. To delete a page you wrote, place {{db-g7}} at the top. jcc (tea and biscuits) 22:39, 11 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hello to all,
Following kind advise om my reviewer Shadowowl, I removed most of the external links from the article's body, leaving only those to the IMDB directory, as the movie credits are supposed to be allowed.
Still, I'm a beginner, I'm not entirely sure if I may consider the IMDB links as allowed, and I'd like to ask you kindly if Is it okay, or shall I remove these too?
Best regards, Marta

Adadeb (talk) 09:16, 11 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Adadeb: Remove those too, and add a single IMDB link to Hajdarowicz's IMDB page at the bottom in a new section called "External links". jcc (tea and biscuits) 22:41, 11 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Jcc: Thank you, you've been very helpful! --Adadeb (talk) 23:54, 12 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hello team,

i need some help concerning the article about Johannes Susen (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Johannes_Susen), a German puzzle editor and member of the World Puzzle Federation: http://www.worldpuzzle.org/members/germany/

Your editor-collegue Swister Twister asked me to do more independent sources. In my article the links lead to well-known German Papers and Broadcasts like

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Funke_Mediengruppe https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Westdeutscher_Rundfunk (WDR), public-broadcasting https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/K%C3%B6lner_Stadt-Anzeiger, one of the biggest and oldest daily papers

This are one of the biggest media companies in Europe.

Johannes Susen cooperates with international puzzle editors and authors such as Will Shorts from the New York Times:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Will_Shortz http://www.worldpuzzle.org/archive/general-assembly-minutes/minutes-2015/ https://www.wort-suchen.de/wortspiele/raetsel-johannes-susen-interview/1684580

Johannes Susen organizes not only German championships https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_Puzzle_Championship

The circulation of his publications in 2015: Bastei Sudoku – Bastei Sudoku: 76,000 copies (now discontinued, replaced by "Logical Sudoku Kompakt") Bastei Die Große Rätselzeitung – Bastei The Great Enigma Magazine: 42,000 Ex.

42.000 Ex.

Die aktuelle – Kreuzworträtsel für jeden Tag – „Die aktuelle“ - crossword puzzle for eaevery day: 88,000 ex. Die aktuelle – Sudoku Spass – „Die aktuelle“ - Sudoku Fun: 95,000 Ex. Bastei Logisch – Bastei Logical (mixed logical puzzles): 54,000 ex. Bastei Logisch SUDOKU – Bastei Logical SUDOKU - Bastei Logical SUDOKU: 56,000 ex. Bastei Logisch LOGICALS– Bastei Logical LOGICALS (special logical puzzle): 61,000 Ex.

(Source: Numbers of Funke Mediengruppe 2015)

There are also some collective magazine titles.

Here are two links to the newsletter of the WPF: http://www.worldpuzzle.org/publications/wpf-newsletter/

http://www.worldpuzzle.org/publications/wpf-newsletter/newsletter-13-2008/ (about Johannes Susen)

So, what should I do more?

Thanks for your help!

@Florine Calleen: Hello, Florine. Thank you for your submission to Wikipedia. Our apologies for the great delay in response. Right now, you need to be adding reliable sources to your draft. I have formed no opinion as to whether the sources you identified here are useful, but there is a clear need to start adding sources. The version that I just looked at provides sources for only two facts -- that the subject is a member of a Puzzle Federation and was the founder of a particular puzzle Championship. And yet, your draft provides much more detail than that. All of that extra detail must either be reliably sourced or removed. And as you do add more sourcing, you might want to keep in mind that you will ultimately face the tougher question of whether the subject is regarded as important enough (in his field) to justify a Wikipedia article. And with the meager sourcing that is currently in your draft, you haven't even come close to making that demonstration. I hope this response has been helpful. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. NewYorkActuary (talk) 20:50, 13 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
