[edit]

Hi. I searched for the Lemuel Shattuck Hospital in Boston, but all I found was this page:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lemuel_Shattuck_Hospital_Correctional_Unit

It's not a correctional facility--it's a hospital--as is noted in the request for deletion on that page. I couldn't change the title of the page, so I created a new page for the hospital.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Lemuel_Shattuck_Hospital

I wrote new material describing the hospital (based on my own research elsewhere), so I think that page is good and will be approved.

My question is, should the Correctional Facility page be deleted, or should it just redirect to my new page?

Thanks, Kerri

Hi Kerri, thanks for the draft. Assuming it gets approved, Wikipedia will have two articles, one on the hospital, and one on Lemuel Shattuck Hospital Correctional Unit (it won't be deleted). Having two articles is fine, so long as both subjects are notable. The two articles may link to each other in their body text.
I added a source to your submission. While you're waiting for the draft to be reviewed, please add at least one additional reliable source that is independent of the hospital and the state that runs it, and that is not purely local. Such a source is expected for approval, see WikiProject Hospitals#Notability for details. I would probably accept something from the Boston Globe, based on it being a paper of regional importance. Other editors might insist on something from outside Boston. It's a teaching hospital, so a scholarly journal article on some study conducted there might contain sufficient coverage of the facility to count. Worldbruce (talk) 09:26, 25 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Tinkerbell bqva: Please read the comment in the pink box at the top of your draft. Your article must demonstrate that Qeuyl meets the standards of WP:MUSICBIO. --Ahecht (TALK

Request on 18:32:24, 25 June 2015 for assistance on AfC submission by ArtandSeeking

Hello! I've been trying to get this page submitted and keep receiving the feedback that the language isn't neutral. The complimentary opinions are citations and not my own thoughts and I'm confused as to how to continue. I really would like this contribution to be made to Wikipedia so any advice is much appreciated.

ArtandSeeking (talk) 18:32, 25 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@ArtandSeeking: Please read the comments on the article. Statements like "Maintaining the aesthetic of her street geodes yet imagining them on a larger scale and re-contextualizing them in a commercial space" are either opinion or analysis, and therefore need to be backed up with a citation to a reliable source. If they are "not [your] own thoughts", you need to give credit to whoever's thoughts they are. --Ahecht (TALK

I wonder what the relevance criteria for housing cooperative is. Many fraterneties and co-ops have wikipedia pages. Many of them have almost no citations. Ours wasn't permitted because of lack of relevance(?) but I think Stewart Little is as relevant as any other house on Cornell campus.

@Kaimast: There are many, many pages on Wikipedia that have fallen though the cracks and aren't appropriate for inclusion. Wikipedia is monitored by volunteers, and they can't catch everything. A housing cooperative would fall under either the notability standards for organizations or the general notability guidelines -- it would need to have significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject of the article to be included in Wikipedia. --Ahecht (TALK

@Ahecht: The article has cited two sources that are not associated with us in any way. We are not owned by Cornell or the City of Ithaca. I think the article in the Cornell Daily Sun should be enough as it it shows that our organization has existed for a long time and we have some relevance as we were one of the first coed houses in the area.Kaimast (talk) 20:08, 25 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@Kaimast: When you have a close connection to a topic, it can be difficult to see that it is not a suitable subject for an encyclopedia article. You may find this FAQ useful. Note that just because something has existed for a long time does not make it notable.
Aside from reliability and independence, one of the other criteria in the guidelines you've been pointed towards is that coverage only in local sources (such as the student newspaper and the photo caption in the pdf that I gather from your comments is by the city of Ithica) is insufficient to demonstrate notability. That photo caption, by the way, doesn't carry much weight, since it's only a passing mention. A suitable subject for Wikipedia is one that has been written about in depth. Also note that there is no clear consensus on whether student newspapers are reliable for the purpose of notability (see this discussion, for example. Hi,

I recently submitted an article for review on Adam Torres (musician) but it was rejected. This musician clearly meets criterion #1 (Has been the subject of multiple, non-trivial, published works appearing in sources that are reliable, not self-published, and are independent of the musician or ensemble itself) of Wikipedia's notability standards. What can be done, if anything, for the article to be modified so that it be accepted?

thank you for your time

Can you hyperlink directly to it please, and make a note of it on my talk page? I'm just about to go out the door and will answer you later tonight.Sulfurboy (talk) 19:43, 25 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I'm pinging your draft's reviewer (@Sulfurboy:) in case they would like to provide a comment in addition to their review. ~SuperHamster Talk Contribs 19:41, 25 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi (@Sulfurboy:), here is the hyperlink to the draft -- Draft:Adam_Torres_(musician). I cleaned up the references of the article and added a few things. Thank you for your time! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Goldenchildrenrecords (talkcontribs) 18:45, 26 June 2015‎ (UTC)[reply]
