Thanks for rewieving my draft so fast! I submitted the article yesterday for review, but it was declined today for not being notable. I had researched several important sources (websites and blogs) from the "software development" world (such as makeofuse.com, ghacks.net) and now double checked them. One of them was a press release which seemed to be from the company itself, which I deleted completely now. The other articles are independent reviews from established bloggers and editors who cover the "Desktop Search"- or "VDI"-World in the web (e.g. arnoldit, brian maddan) ... three of the remaining sources are reviews from non-IT websites: TheAtlantic, inc.com, about.com.

Could you re-check? Thanks a lot!

EDIT (15:18h): I now also found some Journal and academic references :-) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ciachen (talkcontribs) 13:19, 10 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,

I've recently had a submission declined (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:R%26G_(motorcycle_accessories)) and I was wondering if someone would be able to take a look and let me know which areas I need to improve on? I don't believe it contains any 'peacock' terms any more and have sourced as much as I can so any help would be appreciated!

Thanks

Mike

I'm the author of Draft:World electricity consumption which is waiting for review and has at the end the Warning: The page World electricity consumption already exists. Please verify that it is not a copy of this submission and that this page does not need to be moved to a different title. In fact the title of the existing page is Electric energy consumption. Should a title or a redirection be changed? What can I do?

Rwbest (talk) 08:21, 10 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Since an article already exists, you are advised to concentrate on improving the existing article, rather than creating an entire rewrite. --Orange Mike | Talk 01:38, 11 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, my submission on a personality, 'Cheah Cheang Lim' has just been rejected and the reason given was: "This submission does not appear to be written in the formal tone expected of an encyclopedia article. Entries should be written from a neutral point of view, and should refer to a range of independent, reliable, published sources. Please rewrite your submission in a more encyclopedic format. Please make sure to avoid peacock terms, that are designed to promote or show-off the subject."

I would like to request help and guidance with the writing style required. Here is the link of the draft I sent: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Cheah_Cheang_Lim

We have no idea what else to do. We have only been in existence for two years and don't have much publicity about us. We feel we are a Lutheran denomination that ordains women when others won't, places a strong emphasis on reaching out to the disenfranchised, and focus on compassion on the LGBTQ community, that makes us noteworthy. Thank you.

James Walter Clifton (talk) 16:52, 10 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

But our definition of "notable" (not noteworthy; we refuse to judge worthiness) is based on having been written about in multiple independent third-party sources. Wikipedia is not here to promote your cause, however noble; we are a collection of articles on things already written about by newspapers, magazines, well-known news websites, scholarly journals, etc.. --Orange Mike | Talk 01:37, 11 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I'm trying to get my recent article submission approved for https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Harmony_Express_Men%27s_Chorus. I read the criteria at WP:Notability (music) and it seems to me that the submission actually qualifies under 2 of them (even though only 1 is required):

-> "Criterion 1: Has been the subject of multiple, non-trivial, published works appearing in sources that are reliable, not self-published, and are independent of the musician or ensemble itself"

I neglected to include the references initially (sorry about that). But then I added multiple references that reflect the chorus' notability (including the City of Gaithersburg, a television station, and a documentary).

--> "Criterion 6: Is an ensemble which contains two or more independently notable musicians"

The ensemble actually has four notable musicians. Two of them are in the notable Alexandria Harmonizers (who are internationally recognized and which already has a Wikipedia article). And two others are in the notable Glen Echoes, who have performed at a Major League Baseball game for 8 conesecutive years including a nationally televised performance.

Doesn't that meet the requirements?

Pleasespammelater (talk) 17:41, 10 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

You don't seem to understand the meaning of "independently notable musician(s)". That does not mean somebody who is in another notable group: that means somebody who is in and of themselves notable, as an individual performer. --Orange Mike | Talk 01:32, 11 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Hello @Pleasespammelater:, for Criterion 1, having just/mainly local/hometown coverage doesn't cut it. You would need to show media coverage across a wider area, showing an impact outside their hometown. For Criterion 6, it looks like Mike is right, there would have to be existing, valid articles on multiple individuals that are in the group. A good clarifier is WP:Notability is not inherited. That is, someone doesn't get an article of their own because they're the child of a famous politician, or were a keyboardist in a famous band. Similarly, people can be in multiple bands, where the bands themselves are Notable, but the individual people in them not necessarily, so members of HE cannot inherit/transfer-over Notability from their other projects, onto HE. You've made a valiant effort, but it appears this band just might not yet be big enough to have a Wikipedia article. Perhaps your draft might be publishable on a smaller/specialist wiki for musical groups somewhere? MatthewVanitas (talk) 14:03, 12 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

20:05:59, 10 July 2015 review of submission by Beetin

[edit]

I attempted to create a web page for Anne Laurel Carter, a Canadian Author. It was denied for not being notable, although the review basically said "possibly notable but the sources don't show it". I assume this is partly because I referenced the authors own webpage 2ce rather than only using independent solid sources. I've cleaned up the sources a fair bit, I'm wondering if you think it would now be acceptable or if additional work needs to be done on fleshing it out or finding more sources. I'm working on getting a picture of her into the wiki commons to use in the info box

Thanks a million! -Beetin Beetin (talk) 20:05, 10 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

You should not be attempting to create a web page for anybody here. If you are instead interested in creating an encyclopedia article about a notable topic, then we can help you. But an article about a person is not "a web page for" that person, since neither they nor anybody else owns that article. --Orange Mike | Talk 01:29, 11 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hello - I may have originally posted this in the wrong section (Talk?). The article we submitted was rejected due to the lack of valid reference. Can another Wikipedia page (different article/company) be used as a reliable (verifiable) reference source that mentions this article's company name we are creating? Thank you. SVTechITSec (talk) 23:04, 10 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

No. Besides, a mere mention of this company's name is meaningless as far as establishing actual notability. --Orange Mike | Talk 01:00, 11 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Also, what do you mean by "we are creating"? --Orange Mike | Talk 01:00, 11 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
