Hello Help Desk: Article has not been approved for publication due to reason: "Lead too long". Please help, because I have NO idea what that means???? Thank you!

CreateWikipg (talk) 00:22, 6 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I have greatly shortened the lead, by deleting material that should never have been there: the lead should summarise the rest of the article. I observe that the draft has no in-line references to estbalish its subject's notability. You will need to find and add some if it is to be accepted as an article. Maproom (talk) 14:14, 7 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@Maproom: Do remember that references do not need to be in-line in order to establish notability. It is merely preferred, and sometimes makes the acceptance process easier. Arthur goes shopping (talk) 07:31, 8 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
True. But, in-line or not, all the references in the draft are currently to its subject's own publications. Some third-party sources are required. Maproom (talk) 08:34, 8 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Im writing for Happysailor , the one who reviewed and declined my article. Dear Happysailor, please understand the reason why i am creating Novaliches Plaza Mall article in wikipedia is because this mall is one of the pioneer malls in the area and yet, no one would write about it, or make it known in the web. you have to understand that its not as popular as the SM Malls in the city nowadays but it sure is a landmark in Novaliches. I cannot site other sources because there is none. The only reliable source that i can give are those i put in this article. I believe there is a need to put it in Wiki because its 1. the oldest and first malls in Novaliches 2. it still serve the public until today despite the competitor and more ellegant malls in the area 3. it needs to be known for its architecture which depicts the early times in the Philippines. So please, let me know which ones to delete and which ones to put because i dont know anymore.

thanks.

-jackie, writer of the article

Jackiepunzalan (talk) 01:36, 6 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Jackie. Unfortunately, the purpose of Wikipedia is not to make known things that others have not written about. If the only reliable sources about the mall are the ones you have already put in the Draft, then the mall simply does not meet Wikipedia's notability requirements, and therefore Wikipedia does not need an article about it. Sorry. Arthur goes shopping (talk) 07:35, 8 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I am requesting for assistance as far as the referencing and citation are concerned because I considered the article a research article, and did not expect to have referred or cited in an abstract. Kindly assist me on how to go about this, because I want to be accepted for review. Thanks for getting back to me that fast. Am grateful. Sincerely, Irene mogusu.

Unfortunately, Wikipedia does not accept original research. Maproom (talk) 14:16, 7 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I am not sure why this was rejected - can you please help me make this more useful. I've seen many wikipedia entries on individuals that were much more like articles than this one. Please advise....Carol (talk) 14:57, 6 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Carol (talk) 14:57, 6 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

That is the problem; your Draft needs to become much more like an article as well!
To be honest, it is something of a mess, with lengthy sections lacking inline citations.
Statements likely to be challenged need inline citations to independent reliable sources. A claim of having an infallible plan to kidnap Hitler, that could have saved millions of lives, is one such statement.
Encyclopedia articles need to have a neutral, dry, factual tone, not a poetic one. "This utopian community of radical individuals was a decentralized independent association of hermits and hermeticists, of yogis and boogeymen" is beautifully written, but not the sort of wording that's needed. "philosophy and knowledge gleaned from his many years of travel, association with extraordinary individuals, and years of dedicated meditation" and similar verbiage sounds rather promotional.
A large proportion of the sources supplied are written by Beorse himself, and thus do not help to establish notability by Wikipedia's standards. Others are from publishers which engage in self-publishing... for example Ekstasis Editions... and therefore their reliability is open to question.
You could perhaps ask for further help at WT:WikiProject California, WT:WikiProject Biography, or WT:WikiProject Islam.
Do you have any connection with any of the sources that you cite? Arthur goes shopping (talk) 08:07, 8 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there I am trying to fix the references but cannot seem to get to the references to edit them as they are shown on the main page. BrendaA1 (talk) 16:05, 6 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The draft has no independent references, only articles written by its subject and a report of an interview with him. You'll need to find some if this is to be accepted as an article. Maproom (talk) 14:23, 7 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I created an article: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ensighten,_Inc., -- but for some reason I added a comma in the article title. It should be "Ensighten Inc." not "Ensighten, Inc."

I thought it would be easy to change but can't figure it out from this article. How should I make this change?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Page_name#Changing_the_displayed_title

Thank you.

The company is referred to as "Ensighten" in the article itself, on its own web site, and in the first three references cited in the article (I have not checked the others). The article's title should not be changed from what it is now, Ensighten. Maproom (talk) 18:50, 7 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I am trying to write an article on my uncle, he is an artist, (painter) and it has been declined twice now, due to notability problems. I have included a few references, so I don't know how to make it better and eligible for publishing. Thanks

GeorgiaMay32 (talk) 17:30, 6 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi GeorgiaMay32, let us take a closer look at the references you have included:
1 http://www.hampshire-life.co.uk/out-about/artist_profile_patrick_gibbs_1_3142349 - this looks like a good source for information, it is written by an independent reporter, however the publication seems to be of local sinificance only, thus it is of little value for proving notability.
2, 3 & 4 - none of these are actually references - they don't even mention Gibbs at all!
5, 6 & 7 - these sources are not independent as they are the websites of galleries that show his work. They have a direct financial interest in Gibbs and his work. Thus they also fail to prove notability.
You need to find sources that discuss Gibbs in detail - like the first source - but that are of national or at least wider regional significance. Major art magazines or newspapers are the places to look. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 09:52, 7 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

You have written a very short C program in your sandbox, and submitted it as a Wikipedia article. Of course it has been rejected. f you told us what you are trying to achieve, we might be able to help. Maproom (talk) 14:27, 7 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hello- my page has been reviewed and rejected a few times; I am wondering if the changes I have made seem viable now for approval? I'd appreciate a second opinion. Csalehian (talk) 19:25, 6 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, you have submitted it for another review, so it will be reviewed when a reviewer gets to it, which... the way things are at the moment... could well be within a few days or less. Arthur goes shopping (talk) 08:11, 8 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! I am not ready for a re-review just yet, but am looking for advice or assistance. I have a couple of articles that I tried to model my article after (articles that are accepted since they didn't have any warnings on them), however mine was declined. I would like to fix it to make sure it meets Wikipedia standards but I am not sure what to do. I certainly would appreciate some guidance, I think my sources are verifiable and I referenced them correctly, but perhaps I am wrong. TIA for assistance!

When using an existing article as a comparison or an example to work from, it would be better to use a recognized Wikipedia Good Article. You can find lists of recognized Good Articles about companies at Wikipedia:Good articles/Social sciences and society#Businesses & organizations. A Draft need not be quite so comprehensive or comprehensively referenced as these to be accepted, but they can help to give an idea of the sort of sources, sourcing, and tone that is required.
Looking at your Draft, almost the entirety of the "Services" section is wildly promotional and inappropriate. How many recruitment companies do not aim to match their clients' requirements with the best candidates?
Of your seven references, four are to material supplied by the company and thus are not independent (I include the press release in these). One of the others does not mention Casino Recruiter at all. Arthur goes shopping (talk) 08:23, 8 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
