08:24:29, 8 September 2014 review of submission by John.A.McKee
[edit]- John.A.McKee (talk · contribs)
The reviewer responded that I'd included something that violated copyright, however the offending item was simply the URL of a public website so I don't understand the problem.
Also, it appears that the article was deleted very soon after the review, which pains me greatly. I spent several hours to-ing and fro-ing with the client in order to get it to the point it was at, and if I can't get it back then it means I have to go through the whole painful process again from scratch.
While I understand that you can't host anything that breaks copyright, it's pretty brutal to remove it entirely without even saving a copy that I could fix. Is there any way that I can get back what I had and make the necessary changes?
Thanks John.A.McKee (talk) 08:24, 8 September 2014 (UTC)
- You have infringed copyright at http://www.nsw.ipaa.org.au/events/2012/ipaa-regional-conference-2012 How would you like it if it were your own copyright that had been infringed? We protect copyright vigorously by deleting offending material on sight, and tend not to pass the material that broke copyright to anyone at all. The deleting admin may hold a different view and you should ask them. Please see WP:COPYRIGHTS. I note that you have a client. This also tells me that you have a conflict of interest. Wikipedia may not be used for promotional purposes, and paid editing is deprecated. It takes a very skilled editor to be able to handle such matters. You would do well to take advice from one such as CorporateM who knows with precision how to handle this. Fiddle Faddle 09:44, 8 September 2014 (UTC)
- @John.A.McKee Since the article has been deleted, I can't see it and therefore cannot provide any advice. However if you can email me a copy I might be able to help. It should be noted that contributing to Wikipedia with a conflict of interest is very strongly discouraged, because often your client's objectives are often counter to Wikipedia's rules (for example they may want an article, whereas Wikipedia's rules may suggest that none should exist). Therefore my default advice is not to waste any more of your time on this, but I find in about 25% of cases someone in your position can be helped in a way that benefits Wikipedia. I'd have to see the article to suggest which circumstance this particular case may fall under. CorporateM (Talk) 12:34, 8 September 2014 (UTC)
Hi I have just received a message that the article I wrote contained copyright information and the article was deleted. This is not very helpful because I would like to know where the copyright information was and I could have had a chance to edit it if I had known. Is there anyway I can get this back?
Kind regards Sally

- The piece was deleted as a copyright violation of http://timhailes.com/biography.html It seems unlikely that you do not realise that you copied this page, an action which seems unwise since the gentleman is a legal counsel. Fiddle Faddle 08:45, 8 September 2014 (UTC)

- Declined Wikipedia needs articles that look as if they belong in an encyclopaedia. How did this one make you consider it was ready for submission, and why did you bring it here? Fiddle Faddle 18:15, 8 September 2014 (UTC)

I made a typo in the name of the article. It should read "Continuous Drilling Provision."

Is there a way for me to make the review process quicker? Also, could you confirm me so that I can add pictures to my page? Thanks!

I would like to get assistance so that I can submit a worthy article and contribute to wikipedia
Boniswa94 (talk) 23:38, 8 September 2014 (UTC)
- There is currently important assistance for you at User:Boniswa94/sandbox, although that page may get deleted because it was copied without proper authorisation. Please let us know if you have been able to read that assistance and the pages linked to, and what aspects of it are still a problem, if any. Arthur goes shopping (talk) 00:06, 9 September 2014 (UTC)
