I do not understand how the referenced source is not "reliable". it is the page with instructions on how to join the organization described in the article... — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.161.27.72 (talk) 03:58, 18 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

It is not only a primary source, the society's own homepage, it is some guy's personal website and does not come with a reputation for fact-checking and accuracy. Basically, Wikipedia is not for things made up one day. Huon (talk) 09:09, 18 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

If there is, she's extremely unlikely to read this page, which is about questions to the Articles for creation process. Have you tried taking out a classified ad in the local newspaper? Huon (talk) 09:09, 18 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there May I know if the above article is being reviewed?

MichaelEvo (talk) 08:02, 18 June 2012 (UTC)EvoMichaelMichaelEvo (talk) 08:02, 18 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

It will be reviewed soon. As long as there is a "review waiting" message and it's categorized as "Pending AfC submissions" (the very last line), it's awaiting review. There is a very large backlog; please be patient.
But in its current form it's likely to be declined because it reads like a hagiography and the content is not supported by reliable secondary sources - one of its two references does not even mention Lai, and the other is a primary source, the website of a company he works for. Some of the YouTube videos may actually be secondary sources, but those I checked didn't really tell us anything about Lai but rather showed him as a de facto spokesperson and covered his company, not himself. And the article's content should be based on reliable secondary sources which cover Lai to a significant extent; showing that they exist is not enough. Huon (talk) 09:09, 18 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I have written this article similar to nereby area i.e. Satna (district place) and other villages. Then why those articles are not essay and this article is. As far as source is concerned, we have, those in Hindi or Bagheli (India's Local Language) in hardbound Book form. So should I scan them and submit it. Going forward, we will have to include such villages in Wiki for comprehensive knowledge data base.

Please clarify. Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 111.93.67.98 (talk) 09:47, 18 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

If you have sources, please add them to the article. While scanning the books may help, it's not necessary as long as you provide bibliographical information sufficient to identify the works. Per WP:NOENG, you should provide translations of the relevant parts of non-English sources. The sources currently given do not mention the village at all.
The historical information should be comparatively easy to source, but right now the discussion of rulers of a princely state sounds rather off-topic for a village article, and unless sources explicitly connect those rulers to the village, it should be removed.
And while there are many other badly sourced articles on Indian villages, that's no reason to create more. Huon (talk) 10:35, 18 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there, this is my first time of preparing a web page for wikipedia. It has been declined due to no refernces. All of the points can 1 be verified on wikipedia, but I can work out how to attach the link.

The page is Barbara speake Stage School.

I would appreciate your help, as I really want to get this page out there. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Barbaraspeake (talkcontribs) 09:53, 18 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think the claim that "The school also has a very successful Part Time School" can be verified on Wikipedia, and Wikipedia does not consider itself a reliable source anyway. Significant coverage in reliable secondary sources - not just primary sources such as the school's website - is necessary to establish its notability. Newspaper coverage might be the easiest to find. But it's not enough to just show that such sources exist - the article's content should be based on them. You might also want to have a look at our guideline on conflicts of interest; writing articles on organizations you are affiliated with is discouraged.
External links are created by square brackets: Code like [http://en.wikipedia.org/ this] will look like this. References should be added directly to the statements they are relevant to, via footnotes.
As an aside, Links to other Wikipedia articles (helpful, though not acceptable as references) are produced by slightly different code, namely by double square brackets: In order to link to our stage school article, you'd have to use code like this: [[stage school]]. What exactly do you need help with? Huon (talk) 14:26, 18 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I have been drafting a new article, which is still pending review for acceptance. Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/Health_hazards_and_exposure_control_of_wood_dust

I now think I should reduce the article name to just "Wood dust". Can I do that, and if so, how? Stringybark (talk) 13:56, 18 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia already has an article on sawdust; wood dust currently redirects thereto. How about adding your information to the existing article? If you believe wood dust is sufficiently different from sawdust that we're better off with a separate article, my suggestion would be to leave a comment about your proposed name at the very top of the draft, to add a level-1 headline, and to bold the proposed name in the draft's first line of text, like this:
Please name this article "wood dust".
= Wood dust =
'''Wood dust''' is formed as a waste product of [[woodworking]] operations [...]
That should be abundantly clear. (Bolding the article's name in the first line is suggested by the manual of style in any case.) Huon (talk) 14:26, 18 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you, Huon. You are correct, Wood dust currently redirects to sawdust. As Wood dust is a term with currency in scientific and professional fields, and a statutory technical meaning in many legislatures, it is important that it is not subsumed by the colloquial expression "saw dust" which has predominantly cultural and folk connotations. How then to stop the redirect to sawdust, if I follow your steps to an article rename?Stringybark (talk) 15:03, 18 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
The article will simply replace the current redirect when it is moved to mainspace. Roger (talk) 15:30, 18 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The article that I am trying to submit had reliable independent third party sources but it is not being allowed because of the noteworthiness?

The references are all reliable third party sources such as books, newspapers, media organizations that have all discussed the history of Distant Village, Inc. as one of the first (historical) organizations to use Fair Trade and environmental friendly packaging.

Please let me know what other changes needed to be made such as some of the content being too advertorial sounding?

Thanks,

Scott — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sustainablescottie (talkcontribs) 14:29, 18 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The ABC local news piece definitely is a reliable secondary source. The award websites are primary sources, and one of them does not even mention Distant Village. The books may be reliable (one of them certainly seems so, I couldn't find anything about the other), but you should clarify what exactly your reference is. At a first glance, I believed you tried to use the publishers' websites as references, not the books themselves. The footnote should include information such as the name of the author, the book's title, and the relevant page numbers so our readers won't have to read an entire 300+ page book. I'd also say that if you link somewhere, Google Books (which has a preview of one of the books, though the other is unknow) is more helpful than the publisher. There's a template for book references, {{cite book}}, which makes adding all relevant information about the book easy and formats the reference, but using that is not required if you don't want to bother (though it does look neat).
As an aside, major parts of your draft appear unsupported by the given references. For example, I believe Jedlička's book does discuss Distant Village's raw materials and production procedures in some detail (p. 69), but it's not cited to that effect. Huon (talk) 14:52, 18 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

This is the English Wikipedia; we require article drafts to be in English, not in Arabic or French. Furthermore, you currently don't seem to have reliable secondary sources to establish Casa Environnement's notability. The facebook page, for example, is a primary source. Also, this is technically the wrong page to submit a draft; please use the Article wizard. Huon (talk) 16:59, 18 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I do not understand how to get my article published ... please help

SamuelLynne (talk) 18:48, 18 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Firstly, you need to show where you obtained the information, by listing your sources, so other people can verify it is true. But that is only part of the problem - you will also need to demonstrate that Miller is widely known and suitable for an encyclopedia article - see Wikipedia's 'golden rule'. Alternatively you may be able to prove he meets the 'notability' requirements of WP:ARTIST. Find some independent, reliable sources about Miller, for example newspaper articles, magazines or books. Hello,

I'm creating an article for a singer. This is my first time. I'm a bit confused. I submitted the article but it doesn't look like a normal WIKI page.

Help?

Thank you

Gleb — Preceding unsigned comment added by Gkaminer (talkcontribs) 19:50, 18 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure what you think isn't "normal": The large "Article not submitted for review" and "review waiting" messages will be removed when the draft is accepted (the former is outdated anyway - the draft is submitted for review), and minor style edits such as bolding Zarema's name in the first line can also be performed later.
The main problem is with the references. Firstly, you should use inline citations and footnotes so our readers can verify which source supports which part of the article. Secondly, most of the references are not reliable sources or do not provide significant coverage; many are just image galleries or music videos. The best is the APA article about her concert in Baku, though we should link directly to the APA version and not the one hosted by the Azerbaijani embassy in Riad. On the other hand, the b-metro article may also be a reliable source, but it doesn't even mention Zarema and thus is useless in an article on her. More news coverage of Zarema would be very helpful: The article's content should be based on reliable secondary sources.
You might also find want to look at Help:Link; that page explains how to add not just external links (you already have those), but also links to other Wikipedia articles.
If this isn't helpful enough, please be a little more specific in your question. Huon (talk) 23:22, 18 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
