Project #2: July 2007
[edit]OK, let's kick off Project #2, July 2007, which should be easy for us with a mere 139 articles to reference. I have reorganized the project a bit to hopefully make things better. Discussions beyond the countdown list should go on the talk page: Wikipedia talk:Unreferenced BLP Rescue--Milowent • talkblp-r 21:19, 19 July 2010 (UTC)
- Category:Unreferenced BLPs from July 2007: Current #: 0
- 130 is the current tally. I see Finnish reality stars in the future.--Milowent • talkblp-r 04:02, 20 July 2010 (UTC)
- 126 -- I've done all the K's
except for one which I shall AfD if someone doesn't come up with some refs soon. Hallucegenia (talk) 10:02, 20 July 2010 (UTC) - 116 -- I've done all of the Vs. --Jezebel'sPonyoshhh 16:40, 20 July 2010 (UTC)
- Now at 94 - I'll be on a wikibreak until Sunday but will try to pop in to help out when I can. --Jezebel'sPonyoshhh 20:47, 20 July 2010 (UTC)
- 88 -- and I just did a page on an Irish (Tipp) hurler. How can that feel nostalgic, wasn't April just a few days ago? ;) --j⚛e deckertalk 01:40, 21 July 2010 (UTC)
- 77 -- Done the W's. Hallucegenia (talk) 12:32, 21 July 2010 (UTC)
- We are moving steadily! Very nice! Apparently the Finnish actors I saw aren't "reality show stars," its some soap on Finnish MTV, e.g., Saila Laakkonen.--Milowent • talkblp-r 13:46, 21 July 2010 (UTC)
- Hey, those Finns are great, they have a National Audiovisual Archive and an associated website, Elonet, which is a database of Finnish films, television programs and other such. Appears to be edited, not user-generated, might be useful for a couple of those Finnish TV stars. See cite 2 at Oona_Louhivaara if you get another one. --j⚛e deckertalk 21:11, 22 July 2010 (UTC)

- 65 -- Moving right along, from the head of the Audit Commison of Macau to a guy who made the first mass-produced mountain bikes, plus and article sourced entirely in Arabic, it's been an interesting day! --j⚛e deckertalk 03:56, 22 July 2010 (UTC)
- 50! -- Well over half-way home! --j⚛e deckertalk 04:44, 23 July 2010 (UTC)
- 47 -- "T" is now cleared. -- Whpq (talk) 13:22, 23 July 2010 (UTC)
- 35 - the pickings are already getting slim!--Milowent • talkblp-r 04:34, 25 July 2010 (UTC)
- Back from holiday - I count 24 unprodded articles still requiring sourcing. I'll see if I can't bring that number down before I have to log off for the day...--Jezebel'sPonyoshhh 19:49, 26 July 2010 (UTC)
- Welcome back! You've been busy the last hour then, while I might have gotten one or two myself I just counted 17 (excluding those PROD'd or in AfD) --j⚛e deckertalk 21:09, 26 July 2010 (UTC)
- 13 (excluding 7 PRODs) --j⚛e deckertalk 03:10, 27 July 2010 (UTC)
- 12 (excluding 7 PRODS) - I bit the bullet and did Minmi, a popular Japanese reggae/pop singer. The fact that crossover reggae/j-pop artists even exist was a shock to me.[1][2]--Milowent • talkblp-r 06:48, 27 July 2010 (UTC)
- I was wondering who would tackle the j-pop article, having circled around it a few times myself. Well done! --Jezebel'sPonyoshhh 14:40, 27 July 2010 (UTC)
- Psst! As of about ten minutes ago, Category:Unreferenced BLPs from April 2008 is now empty save for the trophy cabinet. Hooray! --j⚛e deckertalk 14:51, 27 July 2010 (UTC)
- Just four more to go! The remainder are PROD/AfD candidates. --Jezebel'sPonyoshhh 18:28, 27 July 2010 (UTC)
3210 left (excluding PRODs etc):Menachem Davidowitz,Manuel Freire, andGraeme "Jacko" Johnstone. --Jezebel'sPonyoshhh 19:07, 27 July 2010 (UTC)
- I've looked and really can't source them.
- Menachem Davidowitz co-founded the Talmudical Institute of Upstate New York so I'd recommend redirecting there.
- Manuel Freire probably needs to go through AFD. It could be a case where some Portuguese proficient editor can help.
- Graeme "Jacko" Johnstone probably should also go through AFD.
- My 2 centes. -- Whpq (talk) 19:31, 27 July 2010 (UTC)
- I've looked and really can't source them.
- With respect to Manuel, I'm afraid I must agree. I'll AfD. --j⚛e deckertalk 19:33, 27 July 2010 (UTC)
- Hmmmm. He does seem to be the president of some portugese author's association, [3] I'm going to make sure I follow through the coverage of that, if only to make sure I don't overlook more substantial coverage hiding under that lid. --j⚛e deckertalk 19:42, 27 July 2010 (UTC)
- I've been called away for a few hours, Manual has a couple more references, but we can still talk about whether AfD is appropriate. If folks want to move ahead with it before I'm back, that's cool, if not, that's cool too. --j⚛e deckertalk 21:09, 27 July 2010 (UTC)
- Manual may be saved yet, made some progress (enough it's now tagged "sources"), but I'm also trying to see if I can eventually attract attention from WikiProject Portual to get someone to take a look at a potential PT book soruce I came across (verifies full name and birth date, for sure, but looks like there might be as much as six pages on the guys political efforts in the 70s, but there's no way I'm going to make progress on that myself, it's time for an expert.) --j⚛e deckertalk 06:05, 28 July 2010 (UTC)
- Agree with Whpq - Davidowitz should be a redirect (as an alternative to AfD). The sources just aren't there to support notability claims. --Jezebel'sPonyoshhh 19:55, 27 July 2010 (UTC)
- Redirected -- Whpq (talk) 20:51, 27 July 2010 (UTC)

- I've nominated Graeme "Jacko" Johnstone to AFD. I searched and searched but I could find no sourcing to support the article aside from confirming that he did indeed publish a play. Note that the article states he has a daughter named Caitlin Johnstone and the article was created by User:Caitlin Johnstone, and 3 years later edited User:Caitoz. It's likely that the material in the article is based on personal knowledege WP:OR, and would explain why sourcing is so difficult. It also calls into question verifiability as that is always an issue when the primary editor(s) of an article have a conflict of interest. -- Whpq (talk) 13:20, 28 July 2010 (UTC)
- I agree with the nomination, I looked at that one yesterday as well and go nowhere. Looks like its time to archive project#2!--Milowent • talkblp-r 13:30, 28 July 2010 (UTC)
