⭠ Last week's report → Next week's report

Strong presence of three of the most common things that change this list: movies, British royals, and death.

Rank Article Class Views Image Notes/about
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 1,935,502 Breaking a streak of three Marvel Cinematic Universe movies that did not take the top spot of this Report upon entering theaters, the "bunch of a-holes" who against all expectations became one of the most popular teams out of Marvel return trying to save a furry psycho. Writer-director James Gunn (whose involvement in the film saw a slight delay due to the alt-right, during which he managed to land a movie and a job with the Distinguished Competition) manages to weave well comedy, action and drama, which translated into positive reviews and big box office numbers (nearly $300 million in a weekend!).
Alan Rickman 1,889,935 On April 30, the late English actor (who most audiences will probably recognize as Hans Gruber from Die Hard or Severus Snape from Harry Potter) was honored with a Google Doodle commemorating anniversary of Les Liaisons Dangereuses' Broadway premiere, which helped launch his career.
ChatGPT 1,683,770 Chatbots and other AI-made writing are still a big point of discussion, to the point that it's one of things brought up in the 2023 Writers Guild of America strike.
Charles III 1,408,865 Nine months after his mother Elizabeth II died and left him the throne of the United Kingdom, Charles had a ceremony to be properly crowned.
Gordon Lightfoot 1,118,866 One of Canada's most admired songwriters, with fans like Bob Dylan, Gordon Lightfoot died at 84, less than a year after his final concert.
Karl Lagerfeld 1,001,864 This year's Met Gala was themed after this famous stylist who died in 2019 and was a close friend of organizer Anna Wintour. Lagerfeld's controversies, as among other things he was accused of being fatphobic and Islamophobic, led to some protests, including going against his quote "Think pink. But don't wear it." by attending the ball in lightish red.
Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz 985,253 The title character of Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story, a spin-off to the popular Bridgerton series which premiered on Netflix May 4.
Deaths in 2023 959,477 Staring at the sea
Staring at the sand
Staring at myself
Reflected in the eyes of the dead man on the beach...
Cinco de Mayo 955,724 A holiday regarding a Mexican military victory that is somehow more celebrated outside Mexico.
George III 928,040 You might think his position on this list is due to the coronation of #4. But his presence here is actually linked to Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story - a fictional take on his romance with #7.
The Kerala Story 902,013 Bollywood has released this controversial film regarding Kerala women who convert to Islam and join the Islamic State.
Elizabeth II 892,277 #4's mother, who lived almost a century before dying and leaving him the throne last year, and his wife, who Charles met before his marriage to the mother of his children and got together again after both divorced from their respective spouses.
Queen Camilla 842,146
Jock Zonfrillo 809,960 Another celebrity death, of a Scottish chef whose endeavors Down Under made him a host and judge of MasterChef Australia.
Premier League 676,712 The English football league is nearing the end of the 2022–23 season, with Manchester City and Arsenal fighting for the title. (In the meantime, the Indian Premier League of cricket is getting much more traffic, but we exclude it for excessive mobile views.)
Evil Dead Rise 649,361 As we enter the month where most countries celebrate Mother's Day, here's a movie where maternal instinct is gone once a mother is possessed by a demonic force and tries to kill her children, forcing her sister to follow the footsteps of Ash Williams.
Ponniyin Selvan: II 612,477 From Hollywood to Kollywood in the epic closing the story of the future Rajaraja I following last year's blockbuster.
The Super Mario Bros. Movie 597,547 Guardians of the Galaxy gave The Super Mario Bros. Movie, the previous box-office #1, its first serious competition in a month. However, the adaptation of Nintendo's Super Mario series still managed to make a respectable $18.5 million this past weekend and became one of only 19 films to earn more than $500 million domestically. All it needs now is a sequel featuring Joey Diaz and Willem Dafoe as Wario and Waluigi and then I'll be satisfied.
International Workers' Day 587,464 May 1 is this holiday, observed by every country which doesn't warrant an entry on Labour Day - including, of course, the United States, which instead celebrates Labor Day in September.
Penny Mordaunt 516,841 Mordaunt, as Lord President of the Privy Council, had an important role in #22. She spent 90 minutes holding a massive, gold ceremonial sword.
William, Prince of Wales 513,009 The next in line to the British throne, followed by a nine-year-old.
Coronation of Charles III and Camilla 482,517 The ceremony in honor of #4 and #13. And the UK won't even get a rest from big events, as now Liverpool hosts the Eurovision Song Contest 2023.
Tori Bowie 471,867 One death that comes as a complete shock, as this American runner who won 3 medals at the 2016 Summer Olympics was found unresponsive at her home at just 32.
Queen Victoria 463,585 #12 managed to surpass her great-great-grandmother's reign of 63 years in 2015. #4 ascended to the throne at 73, so lasting a fifth of that will already be very long!
Manobala 437,597 Closing off with yet another death, an Indian actor, producer, film director, comedian, and YouTuber who built a career in Kollywood and died at 69.
