In this episode, John Oliver (pictured in 2016) stages a musical number titled "Eat Shit, Bob!"

"SLAPP Suits" is a 2019 segment of HBO's news satire television series Last Week Tonight with John Oliver focused on strategic lawsuits against public participation (SLAPP), which are expensive lawsuits designed to scare targets into silence. The episode marked comedian John Oliver's celebration of his victory in a SLAPP lawsuit from Robert E. Murray; the lawsuit came after Oliver criticized Murray and his coal mining company in a 2017 episode that included a man in a giant squirrel costume holding up an oversized check and telling Murray to "eat shit". Murray's lawsuit sought monetary damages and a gag order on the episode. The case was dismissed in under a year. In "SLAPP Suits", Oliver highlights Murray's frivolous suits against others, including reputable newspapers and private citizens. Then, Oliver stages a musical number titled "Eat Shit, Bob!" where he jokingly accuses Murray of committing outlandish acts such as spitting on the Mona Lisa and shooting puppies into outer space. Reasons for nomination: This would be my first appearance at TFA—and actually, my first FA overall! I'm quite excited :D I find the SLAPP Suits saga to be a compelling and humorous story that also imparts valuable information about the problem of SLAPP suits in real life.
