Kids

[edit]

Why do young children, who otherwise get along with their siblings, seem to enjoy their siblings get into trouble? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 102.33.34.102 (talk) 11:40, 25 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Do you have any siblings? --←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots12:56, 25 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think this applies to all kids that have siblings, and it also depends on the seriousness of the trouble. They may laugh when their mother boxes their annoying brother's ear, but will be seriously upset if the same brother is convicted of murder and has to spend years in a secure juvenile detention facility. A related question is why people who wouldn't hurt a fly cannot help laughing when they see a video of a daring stunt gone wrong, even though the person who suffered the mishap must have been in great pain. People have a multi-sided nature; the same person can at the same time have a kind side and be inclined to help others in accordance with Rousseau's view of human nature, while also having a selfish side as described by Hobbes, deriving satisfaction from the suffering of people who "had it coming". Kids are people; they are no different. Rutger Bregman's book Humankind: A Hopeful History explores this two-sidedness.  --Lambiam 16:08, 25 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Athens Olympic Stadium detail

[edit]

Hello, a small curiosity: when the Spyros Louīs Olympic Stadium in Athens was built in the 1980s, was the bowl already equipped with refreshment areas, in addition to the toilets? Thank you very much. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 93.41.96.56 (talk) 17:24, 25 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

That would be the normal practice. Is there some reason to suppose it wouldn't have had those standard visitor facilities?--Shantavira|feed me 11:44, 26 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not sure why but we get this exact same question about refreshment areas and toilets I guess one does lead to needing the other for different stadiums. Maybe we can just copy/paste the same answer each time :-) MarnetteD|Talk 00:33, 27 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

School hours in Estonia

[edit]

What are the standard hours of the school day in Estonian state secondary schools? Education in Estonia is no help. Many thanks, --Viennese Waltz 17:43, 25 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I started randomly browsing public secondary-school articles at List of schools in Estonia until I found one whose webpage had an English version that listed a daily time-schedule. Tallinn Lasnamae Russian School is 18:15–16:10.[1] DMacks (talk) 03:40, 26 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. --Viennese Waltz 09:15, 26 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

"We used to go to school twenty-two hours a day back home in Estonia, but if you tell that to the kids today they won't believe you." Matt Deres (talk) 14:43, 26 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Did you have to walk 20 miles, and was it uphill both ways? --←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots15:54, 26 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Indeed. Students should have more than 2 hours off between days. DMacks (talk) 16:58, 26 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
