[edit]Ground control
[edit]Was the disaster movie Ground Control in any way based on this real-world near-disaster which took place at the Rostov TRACON in November 1989? 2601:646:8A81:6070:F5D8:3DFD:8132:5EF4 (talk) 13:15, 26 December 2021 (UTC)
- It appears you could ask one of the writers of the film, at talaatcaptan.com/contact/. Card Zero (talk) 16:02, 26 December 2021 (UTC)
- The film is not listed at List of films based on actual events, but that list is probably rather incomplete. The incident is not mentioned in the section Rostov-on-Don Airport § Incidents and accidents and also not on the Russian Wikipedia. If there is no English-language source describing it, it is somewhat unlikely to have been a source of inspiration for the flick. By 1998 it had become common to advertise movies as "based on a true story". The absence (AFAIK) of the phrase in the film's promotion also argues against a relation. --Lambiam 11:22, 27 December 2021 (UTC)
