[edit]horror parody film
[edit]What was the name of the parody horror film that made fun of Alvin and the Chipmunks and Juno? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.31.16.246 (talk) 01:03, 1 November 2012 (UTC) Never mind, the name of the movie was Disaster Movie. Sorry. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.31.16.246 (talk) 01:05, 1 November 2012 (UTC)
Your wit would not trouble a shrew's brain for occupation
[edit]I have the above phrase running around my brain. Where does it come from? I thought maybe Sir Henry at Rawlinson End (film) but I'm far from certain. --Tagishsimon (talk) 01:59, 1 November 2012 (UTC)
- This forum thread credits Vivian Stanshall
or Shakespeare (although I don't get any ghits for the latter). Definitely not the Bard: I checked a concordance or two. Clarityfiend (talk) 03:30, 1 November 2012 (UTC)- Thanks. I'm by now pretty sure it was the Rev Slodden addressing Buller Bullethead in Rawlinson's End. Ah yes. 6:40 ish here --Tagishsimon (talk) 03:48, 1 November 2012 (UTC)
Hyperspace (& H.S. Travel) in Stargate
[edit]What is hyperspace in the stargate universe like, as in is it like in Babylon 5 with a whole alternate dimension (as in a ship travelling in hyperspace to one destination decides to stop part way turn around & go somewere else) or does the Stargate hyperdrives just create a tunnel or conduit type thing (maybe like transwarp or silpstream of Star Trek) through/of hyperspace that their ships than travel through ? Because in the SG-1 epi "Small Victories" (4.01), there was a graphic on Thor's computer screen which should ships entering hyperspace, it should the 3 or 4 ships travelling in a tunnel type effect. --80.254.146.140 (talk) 13:23, 1 November 2012 (UTC)
- Humans dial a destination into a stargate, and that's where they end up. I'm not familiar enough with the series to know if more advanced species have ways to change destinations en route. Clarityfiend (talk) 23:07, 1 November 2012 (UTC)
- I think the OP is asking about starship travel in SG, rather than stargate use. I can't remember any specific examples, but I believe we did see ships change their destination en-route. Rojomoke (talk) 06:16, 2 November 2012 (UTC)
- Well in that case, List of starships in Stargate has a lot of information (a lot). Skimming the first small bit, I don't see any restrictions on hyperdrive movement and don't recall any from the sporadic episodes I've watched. Clarityfiend (talk) 07:57, 2 November 2012 (UTC)
- The Stargate wiki hyperdrive article also doesn't mention any restrictions or tunnels. Not a whole lot on this aspect in the hyperspace article either, other than that it is an "alternate dimension". Clarityfiend (talk) 08:08, 2 November 2012 (UTC)
- On the other hand, stargate travel goes through what look like tunnels. Clarityfiend (talk) 04:27, 3 November 2012 (UTC)

But what about hyperspace travel ? --80.254.146.140 (talk) 11:12, 3 November 2012 (UTC)
- In TV/cinema sci-fi, hyperspace is usually some plot device which simply lets the action move on quickly from one scene to the next. When the show/movie turns out successful, the writers usually have to make up some plausible sounding technobabble to explain stuff for the fans. Compare and contrast Hyperspace (science fiction)#Stargate, with Hyperspace (science fiction)#Babylon 5 and Hyperspace (science fiction)#Star Trek for some explanation. The Time Travelling Kino - Stargate Universe "Time" (1.08)
[edit]Was it ever mentioned anywere (in epi', behind the scenes stuff, etc) about how far the Kinos & the Alt' Dr Nicholas Rush travelled back in time ? --80.254.146.140 (talk) 14:16, 1 November 2012 (UTC)
To Kill a Mockingbird dialog question
[edit]In the film "To Kill a Mockinbird", during Tom Robinson's trial, Mayella says that she invited him into her yard to chop up a - "coronoke"? What is the actual word used, and what actually is it? 80.254.147.84 (talk) 18:11, 1 November 2012 (UTC)
- Chifforobe. (The book uses the alternative spelling chiffarobe.) Not sure how you got "coronoke" out of it. Angr (talk) 18:36, 1 November 2012 (UTC)
List of UEFA club competition winners
[edit]On a "List of UEFA club competition winners" page Juventus F.C. is recognized as the only club to have won all UEFA club competitions. I have found this incorrect by surfing out that AFC Ajax did the same. However on above mentioned page the two UEFA Intertoto Cup titles won by AFC Ajax are not included on a title list. Why? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Straggler (talk • contribs) 19:37, 1 November 2012 (UTC)
- The Intertoto Cup only became a UEFA-sanctioned competition in 1995. The Ajax wins came in the 1960s, before the competition was administered by UEFA. Oldelpaso (talk) 19:54, 2 November 2012 (UTC)
