[edit]2014 FIFA World Cup non-entrants
[edit]The article on 2014 FIFA World Cup qualification, and the associated FIFA website reference, states that four countries including Mauritiana will not be participating. Does anyone have any information on any of these countries' motivations for not entering a team? Many thanks for any assistance. Deserter1 (talk) 14:34, 1 July 2011 (UTC)
- Brunei were suspended from world football until recently, apparently due to administrative irregularities (government interference in the national football authority)[1][2]. As for the other three nations (Mauritania, Bhutan, and Guam) I can't find any definite evidence, but all three are small and/or poor countries with almost no chance of qualifying for the finals (e.g. Guam is 195th in FIFA's rankings), so they may feel it's not worth the expense of travelling to qualifying matches (bigger nations will recoup money through ticket sales, sponsorship, and TV rights). --Colapeninsula (talk) 15:34, 1 July 2011 (UTC)
- Great answer, thank you. I was surprised by Mauritania because they entered the last four World Cups, but I agree their woeful qualification record and financial barriers will have been the key factors behind their decision. Deserter1 (talk) 16:16, 1 July 2011 (UTC)
- How is Guam a nation? As far as I know, they are a territory of the US. Does Bermuda or French Guyana have the ability to participate in the World Cup? As an American, I know very little about the intricicies of the sport and its governing body. Googlemeister (talk) 18:59, 1 July 2011 (UTC)
- Some countries (like my own, Scotland) are not sovereign states but their national identities are recognised by football's governing body FIFA, and their football teams are eligible to play in international competitions such as the World Cup. Bermuda is a member of FIFA but French Guiana is not. You can see a full list of international football teams and their FIFA status here. (As an aside, Scotland's FIFA status is currently perceived as being under threat due to the recent approval of a Team GB football team at the 2012 Olympics.) Deserter1 (talk) 20:52, 1 July 2011 (UTC)
- See especially this footnote, which lists all FIFA members that aren't recognised sovereign nations. Notice also that while FIFA governs football globally, teams are also affiliated to one of six confederations, based on geographical principle, with confederation borders roughly corresponding to continents. Each confederation organises its own championship. French Guiana is a member of the North American (rather than the South American, for some reasons) confederation, but is not a member of FIFA. The same applies for Martinique, Guadeloupe, Saint-Matrin and Sint Maarten. These teams can participate in the North American football championship, but are not eligible to compete in the qualifying rounds or qualify for the FIFA World Cup. --Theurgist (talk) 21:47, 1 July 2011 (UTC)

[edit]can anyone tell me where to get a dusk stone and thunder stone in pkmn black pls? Dubious Status How's it going? 19:16, 1 July 2011 (UTC) (forgot to sign in)
- You might want to try going to gamefaqs.com and looking it up. --Daniel 20:56, 1 July 2011 (UTC)
I'd do it but my internet access is limited... I can't visit that type of site. Dubious Status How's it going? 04:05, 3 July 2011 (UTC)
- If you have access to Youtube, there is a video Where to Find a Dusk Stone ~ Pokemon Black & White. Apparently, there is a NPC at Opelucid City, Route 10 who will give you one, if that means something to you?
- Thunder stones can be found on "Route 9, Electric Rock Cave, and you can buy them in Black City and White Forest." per GameFAQ.
- If you don't have access to GameFAQs, you could try Youtube or Bulbapedia. Neoseeker appears to be another Pokemon wiki. --Kateshortforbob talk 13:07, 3 July 2011 (UTC)

Another what movie question
[edit]What was the movie that came out fairly recently, I think within the last two months, maybe a little bit older, where in the commercials there's two women doing like an Irish dance in their apartment, shown for just a second? Vague impression is that it was a drama romance type film, but not really sure, It was the dance that intrigued me. Ring a bell?--108.46.100.127 (talk) 23:26, 1 July 2011 (UTC)
