is this song progressive house?

[edit]

Is the above and beyond remix of Tonight by Dirty Vegas from 2009 a progressive house? When i first heard it, i thought it was chris jones or deadmau5, and they both do progressive house. Is tonight dirty vegas above and beyond remix progressive house? 204.112.104.172 (talk) 02:53, 16 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I am not familiar with the specific track, but in general Above & Beyond are exclusively a trance act. → ROUX  02:57, 16 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, having listened to it on YouTube.. this is pure trance. A good DJ could include it in a prog house set if switching to a more melodic style, but is trance through and through. → ROUX  03:04, 16 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

When i hear the song, i instentaniously think of Chris Jones (a dj from connecticut who specializes in house and progressive house) and Deadmau 5 (also progressive house), doesn't really sound trance, has more of a chris jones then a trance element to it, know what i mean? That's why i'm asking. 204.112.104.172 (talk) 03:15, 16 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The second one has a much more jumbled track list and I'm not sure what is the name of a song vs the name of an artist/band. Maybe you can make heads or tails of it since you're likely more familiar with the music. Dismas|(talk) 04:28, 16 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks dismas, i'll see if i can find it when i go to wal-mart on Sunday. I usualy like to know the track list of a cd before i go alndlook for it, so i kno it's the right one. For the 2nd 1, i'll look for those names. I do happen to know turn it around by dan d-noy and welcome to the jungle by mc mario, so that helps. thanks dismas. 204.112.104.172 (talk) 04:45, 16 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Trying to locate SF short story about robots and rapture

[edit]

This question is actually two-fold. First, can someone help me remember a science-fiction short story? Nations use robot weaponry to fight their wars. The horn of Gabriel sounds and angels appear on the battlefields and take up the robots and weapons, leaving humans behind on earth.

Second, where is a good place to go on the Internet to answer questions like the one above?

Thanks. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.174.20.60 (talk) 17:49, 16 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Here of course. Accept no substitutes. I remember the story. Humans use robot armies to fight the legions of Hell at Armageddon, while they sit back and watch. TVtropes says it was by Robert Sheckley, which sounds plausible considering his writing style. Still looking for the title. Clarityfiend (talk) 22:11, 16 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Here we go. According to somebody here, it's "The Hour of Battle" (1953). Clarityfiend (talk) 22:34, 16 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. The author is indeed Robert Sheckley, but the title is "The Battle." I think the story description at Dark Roasted Blend is mis-titled, since it more accurately describes "The Battle" than "The Hour of Battle" (which can be found at Project Gutenberg [1]. I located Sheckley's story "The Battle" in his collection Citizen in Space. The copyright page indicates that it was originally published in If Magazine in 1954. Thanks for your help! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.252.228.238 (talk) 00:27, 19 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
What Was That Book? is a pretty good place to ask, although you might need a LiveJournal account. 109.155.37.180 (talk) 01:06, 17 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The question's been answered, but I'd just like to point out a (let's say) similar story by Philip Dick: Second Variety. The West and the East churn out robots for WW3, make them autonomous for best performance, and everything goes quickly to hell when the robots start thinking for themselves. It was also made into a fairly crappy movie - avoid that, just read the story. TomorrowTime (talk) 09:04, 17 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Looking for an old program, possibly Nickelodeon...

[edit]

I found it on YouTube once, it was of an old kid's sitcom of some kind, similar to Saved by the Bell. The main character dates a girl taller than him and begins to worry by fantasizing about her being giant. I can't remember what the program was called, but can someone find out the title of the program? It was not Ned's Declassified.--Editor510 drop us a line, mate 20:04, 16 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Are you sure it wasn't Saved by the Bell itself? There is one episode where Jessie daydreams about being enormously tall...I can't seem to find which episode, but it's possibly the first one, "Dancing to the Max". Of course that's not quite what you described, but similar. Adam Bishop (talk) 20:46, 16 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
No, it wasn't. I remember in the video that there are a crowd of supposedly main characters standing on a street and then suddenly she shows up, but only her feet and legs can be seen bacsuse she's so tall.

I am good with voice actors, just give me the cast and i can look up their bios, find the show for you, and give you its name. Another thing you could do is to put the names of the characters in it somewhere, that's how i found out about the mighty bee. -- Anonymous, 22:23, 16 October 2010 (UTC)

The whole point is that I don't know any of that.
Could it have been one of the Degrassi (franchise) shows? It's been on the air in some form for like, ever... --Jayron32 00:07, 17 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
