Opal from All My Children

[edit]

Throwing this out here, hoping someone has some All My Children knowledge that I don't. :)

The character Opal Gardner has been on the show for what seems to be eons, and I know that she is at least vaguely described to be "Southern" (just like her niece Dixie), but have they ever established what community or state she was from? I went to look at the article and I didn't find anything, unless I glossed over it. If anyone can be of some help, that would be wonderful. :) Mike H. Fierce! 01:35, 8 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Ah, I see in the Dixie article that the community is called "Pigeon Hallow," but was the state ever mentioned and is this where Opal is from too? Mike H. Fierce! 01:37, 8 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Other related wikipages to the show have West Virginia as the state for Pigeon Hollow. 219.102.220.90 (talk) 04:30, 8 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks! Is it safe to assume that's where Opal's from too? Mike H. Fierce! 20:24, 8 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
No. Dixie, Palmer, Adam, Stuart and Dixie's siblings are from Pigeon Hollow. But Opal and Tad and Tad's father Ray Gardner came from somewhere else. Tad and Dixie met in Pine Valley. AnyPerson (talk) 02:42, 9 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, and Opal is only Dixie's aunt by marriage, since she married Palmer, Dixie's uncle. Opal is also Dixie's mother-in-law, since Tad and Dixie were married (several times). AnyPerson (talk) 02:43, 9 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Name of a recent 2008? British teen/comedy film

[edit]

I've just watched a film on a Cathay Pacific flight and I'm curious as to where the movie was set (as the characters appear to speak the exact vernacular of a friend, so similar that I wonder if they went to the same school). It's a teen movie, a bunch of high-school delinquents skipping school to drink at home while their parents are out, one guy realizes that he loves this girl and spraypaints it on her driveway; one of the characters' father appears to be an in-closet gay and they make jokes about that. Other than that all I can remember is that it was a "The Xxxxxxx" format name; I thought it was something like "The Replacements" or "The Pretenders", which are obviously different things. Any ideas? I don't know who any of the actors were. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 219.102.220.90 (talk) 03:54, 8 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be any film like that listed as currently being shown on Cathay Pacific flights. The closest shown there is Wild Child (film). It would help if you could tell us what vernacular your friend speaks (what nationality/region) but I think you may have been watching a series/dvd release of The Inbetweeners (although I could be far far off the mark here) as it's listed as an available comedy tv series on the website. Thank you, that's it! I guess I didn't realize it was a TV show because they had stringed the episodes together or something. Wow, I had no idea that Cathay Pacific published that kind of information on their website. Thanks again! 219.102.220.90 (talk) 07:11, 9 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Song Lyrics

[edit]

I've got some lyrics going round in my head:

to stop the fires burning

or something like that. I was wondering if anyone could tell me where this is from? Will (talk) 18:00, 8 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

No offense, but that's pretty vague. Could you tell us if it was a male or female singer? Decade? Genre? Anything? The first thing that pops to mind though is "We Didn't Start the Fire" by Billy Joel. Dismas|(talk) 18:09, 8 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Also check Beds are Burning by Midnight Oil. Exxolon (talk) 19:52, 8 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
The only song I can think of is Riding the Waves by Steve Harley. The line is "The sun had risen now/and set the fibres burning/we've got the feeling of riding the waves". I know it's not exactly what you'd put, but it's what came into my head straight away. Last.fm. Cycle~ (talk) 22:16, 8 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Probably a long shot - Keep the Home Fires Burning (either version). AndrewWTaylor (talk) 17:42, 11 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
