Music in NYTimes video

[edit]

What is the music to the this clip from the New York Times? It is extremely familiar to me but I am unable to name it. --Blue387 (talk) 00:54, 4 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm almost certain it's by Beethoven. Except for one note, it's identical to the slow movement of his Piano Sonata No. 13 in E flat, Op. 27. No. 1 - but that one note makes all the difference, and means it must be a different piece. -- JackofOz (talk) 05:28, 4 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Got it! It's the opening bars from the 2nd movement (Largo) from Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 3 in C minor, which was written at about the same time as the sonata, 1800, so he seems to have liked this little phrase. It starts with the piano playing alone. Melodyhound finally helped me track it down after my own memory searches proved fruitless. -- JackofOz (talk) 22:45, 5 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Are there any? There always seems to be a steady flow. Elizabeth: The Golden Age and The Other Boleyn Girl, to name just two recent ones. :) --217.227.126.61 (talk) 13:26, 4 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I took a quick look at 2008 in film and 2009 in film and only managed to turn up Guy Ritchie's Sherlock Holmes. Tomdobb (talk) 15:13, 4 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

There's The Duchess, but that's already out in a lot of places. Didn't seem to get a big release though. zafiroblue05 | Talk 05:12, 8 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The Devil's Whore is a British TV programme (on Channel 4) about the English Civil War (Like the American Civil War but better). Julian Kaufman, 16-12-08

Song

[edit]

Hello, do you know the song with the lyrics: "How will we get to the lord..." It's sung by two women. Please help! Thank you! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 193.77.182.61 (talk) 15:10, 4 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Various search engines turn up no results on that exact phrase. Can you give any more information that would help, such as a time period or musical style/genre? Perhaps any other frames of reference such as television show or film that it was featured in if that is where you heard it. If you heard it on a radio station you may also want to consider contacting the station for more information.--Oni Ookami AlfadorTalk|@ 22:13, 4 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It's in the style of eghties. One of the voices is similar to Annie Lennox's, but I'm not sure it's her. Other seems to be younger. At the end of the song both say Oh Lord. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 193.77.182.61 (talk) 17:21, 5 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Heart has a song called Alone with the lyrics "How do I get you alone". Could be. 141.209.45.232 (talk) 05:40, 6 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

That's it! Thank you so so so much!!! :-) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 193.77.182.61 (talk) 15:24, 7 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

FCC regulation on network callsigns.

[edit]

I am under the impression, based on information in a couple of articles on Wikipedia and elsewhere that there is (or was) an FCC regulation requiring stations to include their callsign or network logo on broadcasts as an overlay or watermark on top of the video. Could anyone tell me if there actually was ever an FCC regulation regarding this, and perhaps point me to some information on it? Thanks in advance.--Oni Ookami AlfadorTalk|@ 22:09, 4 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I think you're looking for Station identification#United States and the references pertaining to that section. Nanonic (talk) 23:18, 4 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Stewart and Colbert's Election Night Special

[edit]

There's not by any chance going to be a live video stream available on the internets of Stewart and Colbert's Election Night Special, is there? Everyme 22:09, 4 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Not live, but it's on hulu.com. I think you can only see it if you're in America though. zafiroblue05 | Talk 05:10, 8 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
If you go to the daily show website, you can stream it from there world-wide (it's how I saw it). Belisarius (talk) 06:58, 8 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
