What is the best science show to watch?

[edit]

I try to watch those NGC/ Science Channel type shows and my review so far? Bor-ing! Tired, missheveled, reek of no life scientists, with thier dull sound bites. I'm looking for a show that's entertaining and fun to watch. A kind of Bill Nye the Science Guy for adults! Does this show exist? --Sam Science (talk) 09:12, 5 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Have you tried Mythbusters yet? It's on the Discovery Channel here in the states. MookieZ (talk) 15:54, 5 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Brainiac: Science Abuse. Its on G4 in the States, though the science takes a back seat to the entertainment. Rockpocket 17:13, 5 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Science TV these days pretty much sucks. Even Nova has gone over to the "We must make it exciting by creating in every episode the possibility of catastrophe" style of production that so strongly characterizes all of the Discovery Channel shows. "But the scientists, fearful of an explosion, take great care in lighting the Bunsen burner, striking the flame only after carefully double-checking the gas line. Only then can they safely begin boiling the mixture of Dihydrogen Monoxide and Camellia sinensis that will nourish them through the long afternoon..."

I kind of like Nova ScienceNow, the newest version of Nova. Beakman's World, while a decade old, is still shown on Saturday morning in my area, and is similar to Bill Nye's show, but with even more fart and booger jokes to entertain the kids. The two wisecracking penguins, on the other hand, look to be a copy of the two grouchy old men in the balcony of The Muppet Show. StuRat (talk) 01:57, 6 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The name of a song, probably from the 60s

[edit]

I'm trying to find the name of a song that was probably from the 60s - it used to be played often on the local oldies radio station, 6IX. I don't remember enough lyrics to just Google it, but here's what I remember. The singer was female, probably British, and the song was in A major with a swing time. The song was about a girl who grew up in the country and moved to the city as an adult. She goes back to her home and finds that it's all been developed - there were highways where there used to be fields or something like that. Any ideas about the title of the song or the artist? It sounds like Tar and Cement by Verdelle Smith. (Originally Il ragazzo della Via Gluck by Adriano Celentano who was born at 14 Via Gluck). ---Sluzzelin talk 12:53, 5 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks - that's it, based on the recordings I've found on the Internet. Graham87 13:13, 5 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

saxophone song?

[edit]

I've been hearing this song on the radio (US top40 dance/pop) and someone told me to google 'saxophone song' to find it but all that turned up was a song by Kate Bush which is most certainly not the same song. I performed a bit of it on the keyboard and if you act quickly you can tell me the answer before it's deleted. I've already stated on the upload that I'm personally deleting it once I get the answer anyway. Here it is: [[Image:Saxophone song.ogg]] I might have gotten some of it wrong because I was just doing this from memory but I think it's close enough for someone who knows the answer to recognize this. Thanks. -LambaJan (talk) 14:52, 5 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Nevermind. I searched the few lyrics I could actually make out (it's in a difficult dialect) and found the answer. It's Calabria 2007. I marked the audio file for speedy deletion. Thanks for anyone who tried at all to help. -LambaJan (talk) 17:55, 5 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I have deleted the audio file per your request on Wikimedia Commons. You may claim fair use right here on English Wikipedia if you have very good rationales. --Jusjih (talk) 03:55, 7 July 2008 (UTC) (admin here and on Wikimedia Commons)[reply]
