"Down in Mexico" by The Coasters

The soundtrack to Death Proof features a version of "Down in Mexico" by The Coasters that is not the original. It sounds like it's from the mid- to late-1960s, with a different arrangement and slightly different lyrics. Ten re-recordings in New Jersey by Carl Gardner´s revival group (including a new version of "Love Potion...") plus six Billy Guy-recordings from 1963. With the same running order the LP is reissued on CD as "Greatest Hits".

Note: the familiar titles are Gardner´s Coasters re-recordings for Trip, not the Atco tracks. Others from Guy´s Double-L session. It is not confirmed that the Springboard LP contains the above recordings. See also TVP-LP below; and MasterTone CDs of 1997. The ten Gardner-led recordings are reissued on several different CDs - (a.o. "Golden Hits" on Master ITC) and several have a couple or more of the Guy tracks too.
