Two Minnesota meetups were held in 2010. Nine people attended one on Halloween afternoon at the Midtown Exchange, a historic Sears building on Lake Street in Minneapolis. After some initial difficulty locating each other in the large market, and despite competition with the sounds of a jazz concert and the Vikings game on a big screen, there was a good conversation on many topics. Editors reviewed the progress of WikiProject Minnesota. There was extensive discussion of best naming practices and areas for improvement in articles related to Native Americans and other cultural groups.

November

[edit]

On November 20, there was a meetup at the Minnesota History Center in St. Paul. The Minnesota Historical Society hosted it and provided lunch. Society staff and Wikipedians shared ideas, discussed collaboration, toured the gigantic stacks of archives, and saw the State Historic Preservation Office, where National Register of Historic Places files are kept.

2009

The fifth meetup took place exactly one year after the previous one, at 1 p.m., on Sunday, October 11th, at the Highland Chatterbox Pub in St. Paul. There were only six participants, but they had a lively discussion on topics related to editing Wikipedia, Wikiprojects, copyright policy and law, photography for Wikimedia, and the resources of the Minnesota Historical Society.

Participants included Appraiser, Elkman, Bobak, BenFranske, SusanLesch, Jonathunder, Matt, Megan, and Grika with two family members. After taking advantage of the lovely fall weather to eat and drink outdoors, some took a walk down to the new observation area under the I-35W Saint Anthony Falls Bridge.

The third meetup was held on Sunday, October 7, 2007, at one p.m. at Pracna on Main restaurant, 117 Main SE, Minneapolis. After some food, drink, and conversation in the restaurant, several Wikipedians braved the unseasonably high dew point, checked out development plans for the Pillsbury A Mill, enjoyed the colorful deciduous trees in Father Hennepin park, watched a blue heron and three white-tailed deer on Hennepin Island, walked across the Stone Arch Bridge, watched a pleasure boat go through the lock around Saint Anthony Falls, looked at the ruins at Mill Ruins Park, and looked at the city from the endless bridge at the Guthrie Theater.
