The Wikipedia Johor Meetup 5 (the 9th Wikipedia meetups in Malaysia) was the second Wikipedia meetup held at college in Malaysia and the first meetup in Malaysia in 2018. The meetup was held on:

  • Emphasize that Wikipedia is not the reference source to cite, but as a learning tool for people to fully develop their understanding on a particular topic from various point of view and always maintain it up-to-date with the fast changing of the world we are living in now
  • To have a pre-listed set of articles before coming to any meetup (to be more focused on some particular topics)
  • Wikimedia Foundation donation funding, annual financial report, how those donation funds being used (to make Wikipedia events, conferences, maintain server and its minimum employees etc) and proposal to the government on how to make donation to the foundation to be tax deductible in Malaysia
  • Introduction to Wikipedia cosplay mascot Wikipe-tan
  • Wikipedia meetups page and meetups around the world, do feel free to join with these people!
  • Proposed module for Wikipedia as college/university subject (Wikipedia introduction, Wikimedia Malaysia overview, code learning, article content breakdown, infobox and coordinate, article wording and language, photos attachment, external links in article, article Wikipedia categorization, article WikiProject categorization and its class and importance level, Wikimedia Foundation projects interlinking, Wikipedia article traffic, Wikipedia-based projects)
  • Proposed list of events Wikipedia student club in universities or colleges

  • Explaining why we editors love to keep contributing to Wikipedia although there is basically no monetary reward given (aside from the scholarship given for Wikipedia-related conferences), which we said about the life satisfaction of filling all of the knowledge gaps which have not been written before and also the satisfaction to share everything we know to general public around the world without taking any credit from it
