[edit]Ferdinand Porsch
[edit]Why is my edit of describing Ferdinand Porsch as a Nazi, which is accurate, being removed? 96.20.87.194 (talk) 00:36, 1 August 2023 (UTC)
- The lead of Ferdinand Porsche already says "Porsche was a member of the Nazi Party". Later the article says "In 1937, he joined the Nazi Party (becoming member no. 5,643,287)". You added Nazi to the opening sentence, even before automotive engineer and founder of the Porsche AG. Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Biography#First sentence says:
"The first sentence should usually state:
- ...
- One, or possibly more, noteworthy positions, activities, or roles that the person is mainly known for, avoiding subjective or contentious terms.
- The main reason the person is notable (key accomplishment, record, etc.)
However, try to not overload the first sentence by describing everything notable about the subject; instead, spread relevant information over the lead paragraph."
- Being among millions of members of the Nazi Party doesn't sound like it qualifies if he didn't have a significant role in the party. We rarely mention party membership in the opening sentence for people who aren't politicians. Do we even know whether he actually supported the party or just joined for benefits which is common in one-party states. PrimeHunter (talk) 01:29, 1 August 2023 (UTC)
- PrimeHunter, he had Hitler's ear. A little more reading? Google serves up a lot; here's just one: "Anti-Nazi war veterans and the Jewish community [in Vratislavice] objected to the fact that the facility never mentioned Porsche’s Nazi connections, Mayor Ales Preisler told AFP. / They condemned Porsche for joining the Nazi SS paramilitary group before the war, and deplored that prisoners of war were used as slave labour at the Volkswagen car plant in Wolfsburg, Germany when Porsche was general manager." How about a historian? "'Porsche was an active Nazi who was on very good terms with Hitler and used this relationship to push his projects,' said Jan Vajskebr, a historian at the Czech Terezin Memorial located in a World War II ghetto and prison." About ARE's 500-word limit
[edit]I read that editors are restricted to 500 words when writing statements on WP:ARE, but do replies made to other editors' comments count toward this limit, or does it only apply to the initial statement? Thanks in advance! Oktayey (talk) 03:39, 1 August 2023 (UTC)
- User:Oktayey the word limit applies to all edits in aggregate. You can always ask a clerk for a word limit extension, but it's generally better to try to write as concisely as possible. Folly Mox (talk) 04:13, 1 August 2023 (UTC)
- Understood. Thanks! Oktayey (talk) 04:28, 1 August 2023 (UTC)
Creating AfD screw-up
[edit]This request for help from administrators has been answered. If you need more help or have additional questions, please reapply the {{admin help}} template, or contact the responding user(s) directly on their own user talk page. |
Hey I could use admin assistance with an AfD request that I've bollocksed for Joel Hayward. Seems there were three previous AfD's, but two of them were labeled "2nd nom" and "second nom". So this would actually be AfD no. 4, but I seem to be jacking things up by manually editing what's already been created by myself and others.
Could we do the following?
1. Delete Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/page=Joel Hayward (2nd nomination) and Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/page=Joel Hayward (3rd nomination)
2. Rename Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Joel Hayward (second nomination) to "Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Joel Hayward (2nd nomination)
3. Rename Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Joel Hayward (2nd nomination) to "Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Joel Hayward (3rd nomination)"
Once that's done I'll use Twinkle to correctly create AfD req number 4.

Refund on donation
[edit]I’ve made a donation to Wikipedia and instead of INR, the same amount was deducted in GBP, which is a huge difference.
Please let me know how to receive a refund for the donated sum. Sujathadolui7 (talk) 08:45, 1 August 2023 (UTC)
- We editors have nothing to do with the donation process- that is handled by the Wikimedia Foundation that collects the donations. Please see this link for information and how the Foundation can be contacted. 331dot (talk) 08:49, 1 August 2023 (UTC)
Writing a page
[edit]Hello, I'm having trouble inserting our brand and creative director's company profile. It is more than a week that I have made various attempts and everytime there is a problem. It is a pity that wikipedia is not allowing me to insert the information of the company Aquazzura which is not present. Is there someone who may insert this information that I can speak to or send the text please? Faquazzura (talk) 10:40, 1 August 2023 (UTC)
- Hi @Faquazzura.
- It seems you have a fundamental misunderstanding of what Wikipedia is. Please remember that Wikipedia is not a place for any type of self-promotion or advertisement. Wikipedia is not a social media site like Facebook, Instagram, or LinkedIn. Unfortunately all of your draft articles have been deleted due to their unambiguous promotion. Please understand that promotion of any type is not permitted on Wikipedia.
- Any articles about companies or people must pass the strict Wikipedia:Notability (organizations and companies) and Wikipedia:Notability (people) thresholds. If your article does not, then it will be declined or deleted.
- Hope that helps explain why your brand and director articles are not appropriate for Wikipedia at this time. Let us know if you have any further questions, Qcne (talk) 10:54, 1 August 2023 (UTC)
- Draft:Edgardo Osorio was deleted as WP:G11, which is unambiguous advertising or promotion. TL;DR Wikipedia is not LinkedIn or a business directory. You can read about him here.--♦IanMacM♦ (talk to me) 12:12, 1 August 2023 (UTC)
The corrections of Athens 2004 Organizing Committee
[edit]Can you fix the correction and make sure to fix the archive reference for the Athens 2004 Organizing Committee for the Olympic Games? 108.21.67.83 (talk) 17:23, 1 August 2023 (UTC)
- Hello, 108.21.67.83, please explain what is the problem with the archiving reference? ToadetteEdit (chat)/(logs) 20:08, 1 August 2023 (UTC)
- https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Athens_Organizing_Committee_for_the_Olympic_Games There's no problem. They just help fix it correctly for me for the Athens 2004 Olympic Organizing Committee. I was going to ask to be in the archive the viewers never forget. Like it was dead. 108.21.67.83 (talk) 21:48, 1 August 2023 (UTC)
- Hello, IP. The only sentence in that paragraph that makes any sense to me is "There's no problem". I presume from that that you don't need any help. ColinFine (talk) 10:13, 2 August 2023 (UTC)
- Yes, I did. I just need to advise. 108.21.67.83 (talk) 15:55, 2 August 2023 (UTC)
- IP editor. I think (but can't be certain) that you are pointing out that both citations at the foot of the article Athens Organizing Committee for the Olympic Games have "original" weblinks that are no longer useful because they now redirect to the top level webpage rather than where they previously went. This is entirely normal: see WP:LINKROT. Fortunately, the archival links are correct and working, so there is no need for us to do anything! Mike Turnbull (talk) 16:07, 2 August 2023 (UTC)
- Yes, I did. I just need to advise. 108.21.67.83 (talk) 15:55, 2 August 2023 (UTC)

Why is there someone changing or removing the FACTS on the artist Nikki Hornsby's wikipedia Page?
[edit]The pages were placed online by a editor from England named Stan who created both Nikki Hornsby's page and her Grandfather Dan Hornsby many years ago. It was not changed until this year where FACTS were deleted without the research that Stan Zurich requested from CJP-NHRecords offices that were provided. Recently there has been those facts deleted without consideration of the links to Wikipedia.org/wiki/Nikki_Hornsby that were invested in publication for years. The cost of negating the facts also known as truth must be a simple mistake of the editor that does not understand prior facts were proven by CJPStaff. Please let us <redacted> m or even the artist herself <redacted> that will provide documents once again. Thank you. 2600:8801:8104:DC00:B98B:BD03:7F04:F1C2 (talk) 21:33, 1 August 2023 (UTC)
