[edit]update Owens & Minor logo
[edit]I need to update the Owens & Minor logo but I keep hitting a dead end. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Katrinbabb (talk • contribs) 01:47, 3 November 2020 (UTC)
- Please start by reading WP:LOGO. There are too many issues to address here, so I will respond on your talk page. -Arch dude (talk) 02:58, 3 November 2020 (UTC)
Lost sandbox
[edit]Hi, I have been using my Sandbox to prepare an article on 'Mina Dastgheib'. I am sure I did save the last changes on 2 November, but now the whole page is gone. Can you please assist me in recovering it? It took quite a while for me to write it. Thanks, Freshclover (talk) 01:54, 3 November 2020 (UTC)
- @Freshclover: Your recent edits went into the community sandbox at Draft:Sandbox, which is regularly cleared. You can look at the history there to find an old version that has your additions. You should work here, instead: User:Freshclover/Sandbox RudolfRed (talk) 03:19, 3 November 2020 (UTC)
Change a name

How many days will it take to index a wikipedia page in Google?
[edit]3 months back a page has been created in Wikipedia with all the source content, it is been more than 90 days. Still the page is not being indexed by Google. Is there a cooling time period that that page will index after these many days? If yes, can you give me an estimate like how many days will it take from the date of creation of the page to get index in google? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 160.238.72.141 (talk) 07:44, 3 November 2020 (UTC)
- Articles often appear in Google's index within minutes under normal circumstances. What is the article you are referring to? -- The Anome (talk) 08:25, 3 November 2020 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker) I'm definitely not an expert, but was the article created as a WP:draft? I believe that even if the article has been submitted through WP:AFC or merely posted in mainspace, it needs to be Reviewed and only then will the evil search engine pick it up. There is absolutely no time limit to the review process, it is done by volunteers when they get round to it. Again, what is the article you are referring to? Vandalism help request from Sdkb
[edit]I have noticed some vandalism at Mumtaz (Actress). Namely, Repeated deletion of text by an unidentified user.
Would an editor please assist me with stoping it? Thank you, Juhi47 (talk) 12:01, 3 November 2020 (UTC)
- Courtesy link: Mumtaz (actress) --ColinFine (talk) 12:11, 3 November 2020 (UTC)
- @Juhi47: This is a content dispute which should be discussed at the article talk page. It is not very likely that the IP edits would be considered vandalism; it appears they have removed some unsourced and possible POV statements from the lead – whether any of the sources in the body could support those statements is not certain. When you reverted their first removal of the content they should have started a discussion at the talk page and not restored their version. This is edit warring and is something which you have now done yourself by reverting them for a second time. Edit warring can land you in difficulty irrespective of the merits of the edits; see WP:BRD for how to proceed. Thank you. Eagleash (talk) 13:01, 3 November 2020 (UTC)

- CiaPan is right, this is an an issue for es:Wikipedia, not en:Wikipedia. When you raise it there, you should make it clear which image you're referring to;
I can see nothing violent in that article. Maproom (talk) 13:59, 3 November 2020 (UTC)- And also - Wikipedia is not censored and does not follow the religious doctrines of any religion or creed. I've been following this BLP article for some time and have found that nearly all of the edits are reversions of unregistered users, obviously followers of the controversial comic, who find it amusing to add content to the page that are comedic in nature but not encyclopedic, sourced or factual. It's been going on so long, and are no warranted or quality additional content, that I really think protection needs to be administered here in some form to at least stop the nonsense. Thanks. Change of Name
[edit]Hello,
I am Vera Graziadei, previously known as Vera Filatova and I need to make two changes to my profile. Firstly, as I trade under the name Vera Graziadei, I need to change the name of the page
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vera_Filatova
Secondly, I would like to remove my age, because as an actor you can be discriminated against on the basis of your age and we live in a world where any discrimination on the basis of race, sexual orientation, gender, age or class are not welcome. Please note that actors have won cases in the past of removing their age from platforms like IMDb: https://www.theguardian.com/film/2016/sep/26/law-passed-enabling-actors-to-remove-age-from-imdb

Life story of my grandfather
[edit]2607:FEA8:E360:5698:D80A:AAF9:8D3A:CB71 (talk) 18:15, 3 November 2020 (UTC)
Can I post a life story of my grandfather?
- Not here, unless your grandfather is notable by our definition. The subject of each of the 6 million articles here is notable. See WP:N. Even then, since you have a WP:COI, you would have to submit a draft article for review rather than posting it directly. You should try to find a more suitable location on the Web for your effort. see WP:OUT. -Arch dude (talk) 18:37, 3 November 2020 (UTC)
- Please see the answer at the Teahouse WP:THQ. RudolfRed (talk) 18:35, 3 November 2020 (UTC)
Template:DNAU
[edit]Is the statement "{{subst:DNAU|2=hours}} - to prevent a thread from being archived for 3650 hours (close to 5 months)" at Template:DNAU correct? Please {{ping}} me when you reply. --Jax 0677 (talk) 18:42, 3 November 2020 (UTC)
- @Jax 0677: Looks correct to me. The template takes two parameters, the number of units of time in parameter 1, and the unit of time to use in parameter 2. The number defaults to 3650, and the unit defaults to days. That said, I don't see what the point of documenting this edge case is. * Pppery * it has begun... 02:55, 4 November 2020 (UTC)
article not approved and no feedback has arrived
[edit]Hi,
I've written and would like to publish an article on Hungarian costume designer Fruzsina Nagy. After the first draft, I had the text reviewed on August 20th. I made due changes immediately, yet no other revision of the article happened since then and the site is still not published. What could be the problem? Who should I turn to with this? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Fruzsina_Nagy
I hope you can help.
Thanks in advance. A. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Akreyes (talk • contribs) 18:56, 3 November 2020 (UTC)
- You never submitted it for review, and if you did, it would be summarily declined, because we are not interested in a rerun of the Seigenthaler incident. —A little blue Bori v^_^v Takes a strong man to deny... 19:11, 3 November 2020 (UTC)
- Jéské Couriano, I do not understand your response above. Draft:Fruzsina Nagy has some defects, but it does not allege that Nagy has murdered a president. Maproom (talk) 23:45, 3 November 2020 (UTC)
- It helps if you're aware the Seigenthaler incident is why WP:BLP even exists. —A little blue Bori v^_^v Takes a strong man to deny... 00:27, 4 November 2020 (UTC)

- @Akreyes: First of all, if you were paid even indirectly to create that article, you must disclose it (WP:PAID). If not, I suspect you still have a conflict of interest, such as being a friend/family member/coworker of her, or even being her; if so you are strongly encouraged to disclose the connection.
- With this out fo the way, there are two main hurdles to pass to have an article published. The first is to demonstrate that the subject is "notable", which means roughly that they have been talked/written about in multiple reliable sources independent of themselves. The article as it stands is neither a clear pass nor a clear fail in my view; it mostly hinges on whether the various awards amount to meeting WP:NARTIST 4c; evaluating this requires some knowledge of which awards are meaningful in the field.
- The second is that every substantive assertion of the article is backed up by a source. For instance, you may have personal knowledge that Nagy
[spent] a semester at Nottingham Trent University
or that shedesigned costumes for Romanian director Andrei Serban
but you might as well be making that up. (That is what is referred to in the cryptic reference to the Seigenthaler incident above.) - Furthermore, even if the draft is accepted, there is still some cleanup work to do. There is some amount of puffery (for instance:
Instead of seeing in [the limited costume budget] a restriction of possibilities, she sought new ways to create her designs and this skill has become useful throughout her career
) to be removed, and a lot of information bordering on trivia (e.g. the semester at Nottingham Trent University). There are also external links in the body of the text in the exhibitions/awards section; those should most likely be reformatted as references. Thank you for the feedback, @Tigraan, I'll try to make due changes to the article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Akreyes (talk • contribs) 15:07, 5 November 2020 (UTC)
