[edit]biography profile
[edit]How do I create a profile on myself? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bdvelde2 (talk • contribs) 01:25, 15 December 2012 (UTC)
- Wikipedia:User pages should help. Click here and start adding! CTF83! 01:42, 15 December 2012 (UTC)
- But if you are think of writing an encyclopedia article about yourself, please read Wikipedia:Autobiography. —teb728 t c 02:11, 15 December 2012 (UTC)
- However, writing your own autobiography might not be the best idea since doing so would violate conflict of interest. However, if it is an autobiography that you want written as is implied, then you can request someone write it for you if there are enough independent sources and you meet notability guidelines. - But if you're only thinking about a user profile, that's different (use link above, or click on your red-link user-name) ~E:74.60.29.141 (talk) 04:44, 15 December 2012 (UTC)

Lost image
[edit]An image file "Zombie.svg" has disappeared. It was linked to this template: [1]
How do I find what happened to it and restore it if possible -- presumably someone deleted it without bothering to discuss it with anyone who used it. Barsoomian (talk) 06:55, 15 December 2012 (UTC)
- It was deleted as the result of a deletion nomination at Commons:Commons:Deletion requests/File:Zombie.svg. —teb728 t c 07:19, 15 December 2012 (UTC)
help with AfD log
[edit]I am attempting to nominate an article (Jolie O'Dell) for deletion, but the AfD log page at
Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Log/2012 December 15
stubbornly refuses to accept my entry in the AfD log. I have followed all of the AfD instructions to the letter, as best I can tell, and I need someone who can get this article int the AfD log. I don't know if it has something to do with the apostrophe in the article title or if it's something else. Circumspect (talk) 09:50, 15 December 2012 (UTC)
- I have reformatted the AfD page, Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Jolie O'Dell, using the afd2 template as described at step 2 at WP:AFDHOWTO, and it is now showing up correctly in the log. If you plan to do this regularly, you might like to enable the Twinkle tool in your preferences, which makes the process much easier. -- John of Reading (talk) 10:24, 15 December 2012 (UTC)
How to create a Picture Info-Box
[edit]Dear Wiki,
I want to use a "Living Person's Picture" to help reader's understand the article I am writing about [eg: Pabel Miah (British Singer)] so they can understand who the person is and what the article is about. I already created an article and now planning to use a image public for everyone to see on the article page. I already uploaded an image to Wiki's Sister Site and now want to know how you can create a "Picture Info-Box along with other details such as date of birth, when born, where living & musical genre's"...etc.
Could you please get back to as soon as possible so I can start the article using the image in a professional wikipedia article page (style). Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by PabzMusics (talk • contribs) 12:10, 15 December 2012 (UTC)
- See the documentation at Template:Infobox musical artist, but Pabel (British Singer) was deleted while I replied. PrimeHunter (talk) 14:20, 15 December 2012 (UTC)
Help with Yasser akkaoui article
[edit]Hello
I submitted yesterday my first wikipedia article entitle Yasser akkaoui.
After submission, there are 3 comments on the top: 1) "The article is an orphan": but I have placed several links to other wikipedia pages throughout the article. What can I do to fix this? 2) "This article or section may have been copied and pasted from...". It was not copied and pasted from another site. That site just happens to also have a biography of the person so there are many common words. How can I fix this? 3) "Clean up": Not sure what I can do here to fix it.
Finally, I need to change the caps in the title to "Yasser Akkaoui" instead of "Yasser akkaoui". How do I do that?
Would very much appreciate your help,
Best, Maya Mayasioufi (talk) 12:14, 15 December 2012 (UTC)
- Maya, I have moved that web-page (in Wikipedia jargon "article") to Yasser Akkaoui. There are a lot of problems with that article. First of all, it would appear to have a lot of its text copied and pasted from this source and may be a infringement of Copyright.--Shirt58 (talk) 13:30, 15 December 2012 (UTC)
- "Orphan" means that no other articles link to it - to fix that, you need to find other articles which should have links to this one; if there are none, it weakens the argument that the subject meets the notability criterion. --ColinFine (talk) 14:42, 15 December 2012 (UTC)
- Orphan indicates that other articles are not linked to the orphan article, not that it doesn't contain links (that would be a dead end rather than an orphan.) RJFJR (talk) 14:43, 15 December 2012 (UTC)

- Do you have a question? Perhaps it is better to discuss it on the article's talk page. Regards.--Tomcat (7) 14:45, 15 December 2012 (UTC)
- If you think there is new information to add to one or more Wikipedia articles, you are welcome to add it, or to discuss the information on the articles' talk pages. But please do not paste copyright material into Wikipedia. --ColinFine (talk) 14:53, 15 December 2012 (UTC)
My concern is that information on CBR Africa Network (CAN)has been filed under the heading of another network, specifically CBR Asia Pacific Network. Secondly, a link to the source of information on CAN has not provided. The URL is http://www.afri-can.org. I would like to point out that CBR Africa Network was the first regional CBR network to be established, followed by Asia-Pacific seven (7) years later and most recently by CBR Americas and the Caribbean.
It is managed by Ms Grace Musoke, Executive Director and the Executive Committee members 2010/2014 are: Chairperson, Ms Siphokazi Gcaza (University of Stellenbosch)South Africa,Secretary Ms. Sindi Dube Swaziland, Treasurer Mr Moses Ddamulira (Kymbogo University) Uganda, E.C Member Mr. Soumana Zamo (CBM)Niger,E.C Member Mr. James Lalu (Government Rep)Nigeria, E.C Member Ms. Tiangay Gondoe (Sightsavers)Sierra Leone, E.C Member Mr. Elie Bagbila (Light for the World)Burkina Faso and E.C Member Mr. Essam Khouzam (SETI)Egypt
I hope the above information will be taken into consideration. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 41.202.240.2 (talk) 15:20, 15 December 2012 (UTC)
- You are free to add the information yourself. Incidentally, the article needs a lot of work done to make it acceptable. It starts with a huge paragraph, which need to be subdivided. It does not begin by explaining what "community-based rehabilitation" is – is it an organisation, or a technique? And it has no references at all. Maproom (talk) 15:52, 15 December 2012 (UTC)
Sandy, Bedfordshire, UK
[edit]Please note: Eudo Dapifer was Norman not Saxon as stated in the article. Woolmer or Wulmer of Eaton Socon owned land at Sandy prior to the conquest and Eudo held the land at the time of Domesday Book. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.241.157.237 (talk) 17:21, 15 December 2012 (UTC)
- "Eudo" does sound more like a Norman name than a Saxon one. And what you say is supported by the article Eudo Dapifer, so I have changed it. Maproom (talk) 17:56, 15 December 2012 (UTC)
request citation?
[edit]If we see something in an article that doesn't have a reference or citation listed, is there a way to request that a citation/reference to inserted? For example on the page for Serena Southerlyn (from tv show Law & Order), some one wrote "In another episode, an elderly woman asked Southerlyn if she was married or had a boyfriend; she said that she wasn't, but the manner in which she stumbled over her response indicated discomfort with the topic and hinted at "something more" behind her answer." They do not cite the episode this occurred in. Is there a way to request a citation?

- You can put the {{citation needed}} tag following the text you think needs a citation. RudolfRed (talk) 20:58, 15 December 2012 (UTC)
- But unfortunately, there is no guarantee that anybody will respond to it. If you also make a note on the talk page, that might prompt another editor interested in the page to look for a citation. Or if you can find out who inserted that information (eg using WikiBlame) you could ask them on their talk page. --ColinFine (talk) 22:41, 15 December 2012 (UTC)
