Link in image caption

I want to put a wililink into the caption of the image at the top of the Analytic Hierarchy Process article. I think I've seen this done (but maybe not), but I can't figure out how to do it here. --Lou Sander (talk) 01:34, 17 January 2011 (UTC)

Adding a wikilink to a picture caption is exactly the same as adding a wikilink to ordinary article text. I'm inferring this is what you want, but please respond here if I've misunderstood or you've any other questions. I've removed the "click here" bit, because ideally Wikipedia articles should still make sense in print format. Adrian J. Hunter^{(talk•contribs)} 06:13, 17 January 2011 (UTC)

Looking again, I realise you actually want to link to Talk:Analytic_Hierarchy_Process/Example_Leader, a subpage to complement the article Analytic Hierarchy Process. Using a subpage in that way isn't really standard on Wikipedia (see Wikipedia:Subpages). It looks like terrific content – attractive and informative – but I'm not sure whether it's in the right place at the moment per Wikipedia:Not#Wikipedia is not a manual, guidebook, textbook, or scientific journal. Roper

It all started on Feb. 19 1991, Devontae Lynell “Roper” was born. As a kid born and raised in the city of Chicago, Roper developed an ear for music at a very young age. He started singing and dancing in groups as a young teen. In grammar school he started writing songs as notes to girls he liked because he was a bit shy. help altering a page please....

I donated the following image to Wikipedia with attribution to the CN Foundation and hoped the removal of my personal name would result in it being not returned in a GOOG image search for curtis neeley. My name at the bottom of the page in the file history still allows GOOG to return it for searches for my name. A preliminary injunction is being considered by the judge but I would like to know if the history can be removed?

Please assist - Changes on company article

I represent a company called Allied Worldwide. I noticed that information appearing on Wikipedia is incorrect & not up to date.

You seem to be talking about two separate companies. Before adding information about your company, it must be notable enough for inclusion in Wikipedia. You can see the notability requirements at WP:CORP. Dismas|^(talk) 07:39, 17 January 2011 (UTC)

If you insist on starting the article, it would probably be best if you created the article in your userspace at something like User:Wikitech001/Allied Worldwide. Then ask some more experienced, and unbiased (thinking WP:COI here), editor read it over. If they feel that the article is written neutrally and the company is notable, then they can move the article into the main article space. At that point, the two articles can each be at their own titles. In the end, your neutral secondary sources are key to being able to keep the article. Dismas|^(talk) 09:31, 17 January 2011 (UTC)

Move the contents box

Patrick Bronte

Dear Wikipaedia I read your article about the connection between Clayton and the Bronte family. However, I see no reference to the Rev. Edward Thwaites who was curate to the Rev. Patrick Bronte when he was vicar of Thornton. The Rev.Edward Thwaites lived in a house now known as the Nook in Broadfolds Clayton and was killed wh en thrown from his horse in Back Lane. To be accepted as part of a Wikipedia article, information needs to be published first in reliable sources such as books, newspapers or academic journals; personal recollections are not enough. This is one of the core principles of Wikipedia. Establishing 'Notability for companies and organisations'

Dear all, Could someone please help me - a page I have been editing (Faculty of Pharmaceutical Medicine) has had a 'notability' flag put on it. How do I go about making this page notable - is this by adding references or some other way? Yes, that's right. So far, the article only has a link to the Faculty's own home page; you need to add references to reliable sources, independent of the organisation, to show that people have written about it in books, newspapers, journals and such like. The guideline is at Wikipedia:Notability (organizations and companies).

Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs) · FENS · JSTOR · TWL

These "Find sources" links may help you track down the sources you need, but you'll have to sift through the results to find items that are about the Faculty itself, and not just mentioning it while writing about a Faculty member. -- John of Reading (talk) 10:46, 17 January 2011 (UTC)

Using images from Bangla Wikipedia in English Wikipedia

This is an image in Bangla Wikipedia

The image is tagged with {{PD-old}} at the Bangla Wikipedia, so it can be moved from there to Wikimedia Commons. Once that is done, it will be usable at all the language-specific projects including this one. I suggest you ask at the Bangla Wikipedia for the image to be moved. -- John of Reading (talk) 12:58, 17 January 2011 (UTC)

Removing or changing the license details of a picture

Hi, a user has uploaded a copy of a new University of East London logo, but I am afraid that s/he appears to have done under an incorrect license (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:UEL_Logo.png). It was incorrectly uploaded to Commons. Images, like copyrighted logos, that will be used in accordance with the non-free use criteria must be uploaded to Wikipedia and tagged accordingly. I'll take care of it. – ukexpat (talk) 16:07, 17 January 2011 (UTC)

"Globally known" isn't quite the right word, but it is the right concept. The game has to be notable -- someone has to have previously written about the game in any reliable source (examples are websites that are not blogs or fansites, newspapers, and magazines), which are then cited by the article. If you can find a few reliable sources, by all means go on to Your first article, otherwise it's not a good idea to proceed. Xenon54 (talk) 15:53, 17 January 2011 (UTC)

Removing text box from top of page

Hello! At the top of my author page (page for Marla Alupoaicei), there is a text box that says something about the page requiring cleanup. I did not create the page but I did add some additional links and information to support what someone else had already posted. Can you please remove that text box? I am not sure how to do this. To remove those text boxes you just have to remove the template {{COI}} from the top of the article. But you shouldn't do that because you are the subject of the article in question! Under what name have you edited the article? The history shows only a handful of edits since User talk:Leap-of-faith-2010 edited it. —Half Price 19:08, 17 January 2011 (UTC)

(ec) You shouldn't be removing the box, even if you knew how, as it relates to you. The tag was added a year ago after a number of edits you made under a different userid (which was indefinitely blocked as a spam user name). There is a topic on the Talk page from that time that notes why it was added. Do these characters ( 𐌹𐍆𐍃 ) belong in these places Here and Here ? I've seen them in usernames but not in articlespace.

Your first link contains letters in Sinhala script. The second link contains unrelated letters in the Gothic alphabet. Your post here contains three of the Gothic letters in the second link. The link to Barrow High School in "References 27" is listed as http://www.nsbsd.org/site/index.cfm/1,51,1. Our site no longer supports CFM, the new link should be http://www.nsbsd.org/schools/bhs.

I would gladly fix this myself, but when selecting "edit" for the References this link does not appear.

The place to edit is not in the references section, but in the place where the reference is specified (so click the ^ link beside the item in the reference list). I've done that for you. This part of the article needs a link to a reliable source that confirms the statement about the 2006 football game. Your "new link" leads to a page that doesn't say anything about football. Did the old links say anything about the game, or were they just links to the two teams' home pages? Just to answer the question, this image looks like a "stock" or "Factory" steering wheel for a 1971 Barracuda. I typed "steering wheel 1971 barracuda" into Google, and based on the images I found, this is most likely the original steering wheel. There are "aftermarket" steering wheels that look different, but based on what I can find, this was likely the original. To add numbers, use the {{#expr: ... }} parser function. For your above example, it would simply be

{{#expr: {{PAGESINCATEGORY:Artciles1}}+{{PAGESINCATEGORY:Artciles2}}+{{PAGESINCATEGORY:Artciles3}} }}

Scientific name of tree

I was hopping that you might give me the scientific name of the tree that in El Salvador, Central America is called "MORRO"

It's apparently Crescentia alata.

Is there a tool

Is there a tool that tells the user which article they have editted and with how many times next to the article's name. I'm not talking about the Edit Counter, which is different. None spring to mind, but if you've made a significant amount of edits to a particular article then Article wikichecker can tell you how many times you've edited it. —Half Price 23:32, 17 January 2011 (UTC)

Help me find the name of the show

There was a PBS show in the mid 90's that starred two girls and one boy that did scientific experiments. The one girls name was Keiko or Kaiko. Can you please help me identify that show. Hi, I can't work out if its called "Zoom", "Zoomsci" or "Science Rocks", but this page links out to instructions for creating a paper chair - presumably something that they did on the tv show, one of the comments at the end of the page states "The Newspaper chair was so cool.
