Poi dog
Article(s): Poi dog
Request: Draw your own picture of a poi dog. To see what a poi dog looked like, scroll to the bottom of the article poi dog where it says "external links" and click on that link, which will take you to page 33 of the book "Domestication". Then scroll all the way down to the bottom of that page 33 to a drawing of four dogs. It's the one on the bottom right. Ok, now another drawing, this one from National Geographic: http://blogs.ngm.com/blog_central/2009/07/new-dogs-have-their-day-old-ones-fade-away.html, scroll down to the bottom and find this picture here: http://blogs.ngm.com/.a/6a00e00982269188330115714d621f970c-pi. Ok, now you know what a poi dog looked like. Now draw another. Draw your own picture of a poi dog and upload it and place it into the article Poi dog. It's not completely clear that the infobox picture in the article Poi dog is really a poi dog. Chrisrus (talk) 00:57, 22 August 2012 (UTC)

Request: Create an SVG file of the "Seven Gold Stars" Flag found at http://becrux.net/seven-golden-stars/
Graphist opinion(s):
- Strangely for someone who's promoting a national flag design, that link states that this flag has a registered copyright and can't be produced without permission. And while I don't think it's eligible for copyright, the fact is still that it's registered, and it's better to upload it on WP (not on Commons) with a fair use rational. Unless you want to contact the designer and suggest releasing it under a free license. Cheers! -- Orionist ★ talk 19:10, 26 February 2013 (UTC)
- Strange indeed. I don't think it's original enough for copyright, but whatever. Fry1989 eh? 22:32, 19 March 2013 (UTC)

- Hi Jd. Thank you for taking on the request. Well, I feel bad about this because of the effort you put in, but there appears to be too many changes. I was looking for a more subtitle change and probably should have left my request at - Center/align everything similar to how it now is laid out and smooth the lines (the circles had a stair step appearance). I revised the original drawing (fixed the alignment issues, added some text, etc.) and am fine with the way it is. The only change left for the Sources of info diagram is to change the white background to clear/transparent. Thanks. -- Jreferee (talk) 12:55, 5 March 2013 (UTC)
- Don't feel bad, there's no reason to at all. Honestly wasn't a ton of work. And easily edited to what you're looking for. I just threw in the color because I thought it would help distinguish between the different sections of the diagram. — Jdcollins13 (talk)

- The like-elements in the Sources of info vector diagram2 have different font sizes, which I fixed in the original 'Sources of info diagram'. The Sources of info vector diagram2 also has other changes. I prefer the original and made a few other tweaks in it. I appreciate the help as it allowed me to see some things in the original that needed to be fixed. Thanks Jd. -- Jreferee (talk) 11:16, 7 March 2013 (UTC)
- No problem, I took the liberty of removing the background and smoothing out the circles on your finished image. — Jdcollins13 (talk) 13:36, 8 March 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks for changing the opaque background to transparent and smoothing out the circles. To keep others from replacing the original image with 'Sources of info vector diagram2' or 'Sources of info vector diagram', would you mind listing {{db-author}} on both of those. Thanks! Jreferee (talk) 14:59, 8 March 2013 (UTC)
- I'm actually fairly sure I can't, seeing as it doesn't really fall under any of the criteria for speedy deletion. Sorry, but I never added {{Vector version available}} to the original so odds are it won't be replaced. — Jdcollins13 (talk) 19:47, 8 March 2013 (UTC)

- Nice, but the text GaAs and AlAs renders at different sizes, maybe you could have a look at that again. Furthermore somebody with knowledge on SASERs could suggest how to design the transition of the wave from the semiconductor to free space (or whatever the chamber at the end of the device is) because an interruption of the wave doesn't make sense physically. The wave should also somehow exit the device through the hole at the end. Also the different coloring could be reconsidered (since different coloring of waves often depicts different frequencies - here it could only mean different wavelengths). -- Patrick87 (talk) 19:57, 5 March 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks for the comment. I uploaded a new version to the history of the file with your suggested changes. Have a look at it here. I don't know how accurate that representation is, so you might want to enlist the help of someone with expertise on the subject. I searched the web for similar images and all I could find was the one in this page, which has some significant differences from the one we have, so you might want to look into that too. Cheers! -- Orionist ★ talk 01:53, 8 March 2013 (UTC)
- Patrick87 you are absolutely right about the transition of the wave (and about the coloring). The wave should not be interrupted for any reason. Also, yes there should be a small hole at the end of the device. Therefore, the new version from Orionist it is much better. Pointing that out was very important. Euler diagram for Terminology of the British Isles
Article(s): Terminology of the British Isles
Request: I'd like a simpler Euler diagram for this article. There should be one big rectangle divided into 8 smaller rectangles of equal sizes in a left-to-right arrangement (or if you think it fits better in the article, in a top-to-bottom arrangement). The insides of the 8 small rectangles should be labeled, in sequence, Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland, England, Scotland, Wales, Jersey, Guernsey, Isle of Man. It should be shown, whether by labels above and below (or to the sides of) the big rectangle, or by using 5 different border colors, that the following group names apply:
British Isles: all 8 small rectangles
Ireland (island): first and second rectangles from the left (or top)
Great Britain: third, fourth, and fifth rectangles from the left (or top)
United Kingdom: second, third, fourth, and fifth rectangles from the left (or top)
British Islands: all except the left-most (or top-most) rectangle

Not done and not likely to be done
Article(s): Oxygen
Request: Please chop something off of the top. I don't know why there are two. DePiep (talk) 00:28, 25 March 2013 (UTC)
Graphist opinion(s):
- I'm not exactly sure what you need. Should we crop even more at the top of the left image? It seems already cropped sufficiently for me, but I don't know your exact requirements. -- Patrick87 (talk) 10:10, 25 March 2013 (UTC)
- You are right, the left one is OK. Then, reducing the right one would produce a copy. Maybe there is a reason for deletion of a copy, but that should be checked elsewhere. I withdraw. -DePiep (talk) 12:01, 25 March 2013 (UTC)

Royal Standard plus Flag of Gwynedd
Article(s): List of British Flags, Royal Standard of the United Kingdom
Request:
- Create a new file by replacing the three lions in the bottom right quarter of the Royal standard with the Flag of Gwynedd (I saw this on a BBC Wales talk show, it was a proposed new design to give Wales a place on the standard). --154.50.194.130 (talk)
Graphist opinion(s):
- Some might object that the colors aren't consistent... AnonMoos (talk) 15:56, 31 March 2013 (UTC)
