'Wikipedia 101' series
[edit]This series is designed to support University of Alberta Library staff their exploration and use of Wikipedia and anyone is welcome to join in. It was delivered first in March and April 2020 and was delivered again in June and July 2020.
Sessions are structured to introduce learners to the Wikipedia ecosystem, editing functionality, and article creation process.
- Week one: What is Wikipedia?
- Week two: Learning how to make small edits
- Week three: Sources & citations
- Week four: Wikicommons and media
- Week five: Creating an article
- Week six: Review and next steps
There is currently no plans to offer the series again in 2020, but the resources used in the series continue to be accessible on the course dashboard: https://outreachdashboard.wmflabs.org/courses/University_of_Alberta/UAL_Wikipedia_101.
Weekly Collaborative Editing Hours
[edit]Drop into the Google Meet anytime on Wednesdays between 10:30 a.m. and noon MT to participate in our Collaborative Editing Hours! These hours are hosted by the UAL's Wikipedian in Residence, Erin O'Neil. Join the Meet to share Wikipedia editing work, ask for support, offer your own expertise, or just say hello and learn more!
