- Towneley family needs to be referenced.
- The Battle of Clitheroe - A Scots victory over the English in 1138.

- As well as limestone quarrying, Clitheroe has a history cotton weaving. On an IP in the castle,it says there were 13 mills in 1912. Some are featured in List of mills in Lancashire#Clitheroe. This Grace's Guide entry has more. A number of OS maps are available at various sites, the council's MARIO mapping site offers old maps from 1840s and 1890s (Use the 'zoom to point' tool for easier navigation). A new article (List of mills in Clitheroe) has been started.
- The Low Moor area and Swan Court Shopping Arcade have articles in need of attention, or perhaps merger with Clitheroe.
- Robin Hood of Wakefield met up with the Earl of Lancaster in Clitheroe- it is alleged.
- Henry VI may have been captured outside Clitheroe after the Battle of Hexham during the Wars of the Roses.
- The valleys of the Ribble and Aire have formed a significant cross-country route for a very long time, a roman-road between Ribchester and Ilkley is marked on OS maps as passing under Clitheroe's western suburb, the modern equivalent being the A59 road.
- Inspired by the excellent work of Peter I. Vardy, Listed buildings in Clitheroe gives a list of buildings, most of which need photos, with many located close to the event.
- Also the following local buildings are all grade II* listed and would be worthy of an article, should anyone be interested (in no particular order): Laneside Farmhouse, Chatburn; Little Mearley Hall, Mearley; Old Well Hall, Downham; Ashlar House and Cottage, Higham with West Close Booth (witches); Standen Hall, Pendleton; Mitton Hall, Little Mitton; Hodder Old Bridge, Great Mitton; Bashall Hall, Bashall Eaves.
