Wikipedia:Featured picture candidates/Vietnam Veterans Memorial design

Reason: The most important public art competition of its era was won by a 21-year-old college student. No restoration attempted: a couple of pencil smudges and water drips are part of what make this remarkable. Architectural sketches with legible handwritten description, submitted 1980-1981. I've just finished several days' correspondence with the Library of Congress reference department to confirm that this actually is PD-US.

Support The abstract and minimally detailed submission are rather fitting given the subtle nature of the memorial.
