Operator: Kingpin13
Automatic or Manually assisted: Auto
Programming language(s): C# .NET, with DotNetWikiBot
Source code available: Yes
Function overview: Remove speedy deletion templates in the wrong namespace, and warn the nominator
Edit period(s): Continuous, when ever I run it
Estimated number of pages affected: 3 a day (excluding user warnings), at a guess
Exclusion compliant (Y/N): Not for this task
Already has a bot flag (Y/N): Yes
Function details: If a page has a speedy deletion template on it, then the bot will identify what namespace the deletion template is for, and if it is placed in the wrong namespace (e.g. a {{Db-a7}} place on a Category page), the bot will remove it (or in the case of {{Db-u1}} convert it to {{Db-g7}}), as long as the creator wasn't the nominator. It will then look at the page history, and if it hasn't been moved, it will warn the user who tagged the page for deletion.
Discussion
[edit]BTW, I will be away from tomorrow. But may have very limited internet access. Be patient if if you have any questions. Cheers - Kingpin13 (talk) 20:06, 9 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- Will it really be a warning, rather than just informing the user they used the wrong template? Or put it in the wrong place? Is that necessary, a warning, rather than informing? --68.127.233.138 (talk) 01:58, 11 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- It will be a warning which is written by me. I use warning as "notification" in this case, it won't b harsh, and the bot won't replace a speedy on the same page twice, so it will allow the user to replace it. - Kingpin13 (talk) 12:56, 14 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- Can we make it a notification? I like to assume a user may have made a mistake, didn't know all the rules, couldn't find them, rather than that they purposefully did something incorrectly that requires warning? To me a warning is notification of fault. A notification can be instructive and helpful. --68.127.233.138 (talk) 03:39, 17 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- Sure, it's just what we call it, I have no problem with calling it "notification". If you have an idea for the message it should use please suggest it here. I'm thinking somthing like:

Hi Bots/Requests for approval, this is an automated message from SDPatrolBot, to let you know that I recently removed a Speedy Deletion template you added to Microsoft. I removed it because the page is in the namespace of Article, but the CSD you used (F1), only applies to pages in the namespace of File. If the template shouldn't have been removed, please replace it (SDPatrolBot won't remove it again), and report the error. Thanks - Kingpin13 (talk) 12:57, 17 August 2009 (UTC)
- See User:SDPatrolBot/WrongNamespaceNote to make any changes. - Kingpin13 (talk) 12:57, 17 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- Looks better put this way, in my opinion, as a simple notification. --68.127.233.138 (talk) 13:45, 24 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

{{BAGAssistanceNeeded}} Any BAG input on this? - Kingpin13 (talk) 20:05, 17 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- Suggest you do a trial run, while waiting. Run it from your user account and manually oversee at 4 edits per minute, staying well within bot policy, then when a baggie turns up you'll be ready to go. Rich Farmbrough, 06:33, 27 August 2009 (UTC).[reply]
- Been doing some of these (since it doesn't require the bot to load any more pages than it already does for its other tasks. See: A7 removal, A7 removal, A7 removal, A7 removal :D. This isn't all of them, but it;s the ones which I found looking through my contributions. - Kingpin13 (talk) 11:18, 27 August 2009 (UTC)'[reply]
- The issue here is more with the theory than the implementation. Do people actually want misplaced tags to be removed? (I can understand the conversion one more easily.) - Jarry1250 [ In the UK? Sign the petition! ] 13:10, 30 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- Well how about we say it only removes it if it's an A1, A3, A7 or A9 in userspace, or the page has been moved since the tag was placed. - Kingpin13 (talk) 14:18, 30 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- Oh, I didn't say you had to change it, I just wanted to know whether you'd discussed it anywhere. - Jarry1250 [ In the UK? Sign the petition! ] 14:20, 30 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- Well no, I haven't disscussed it (I can if you like?) But it is policy that the speedies this bot would remove are incorrectly placed - Kingpin13 (talk) 14:25, 30 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- I think it may be worth a quick thread, yes. - Jarry1250 [ In the UK? Sign the petition! ] 14:34, 30 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
