Function details: If a page has a speedy deletion template on it, then the bot will identify what namespace the deletion template is for, and if it is placed in the wrong namespace (e.g. a {{Db-a7}} place on a Category page), the bot will remove it (or in the case of {{Db-u1}} convert it to {{Db-g7}}), as long as the creator wasn't the nominator. It will then look at the page history, and if it hasn't been moved, it will warn the user who tagged the page for deletion.

Will it really be a warning, rather than just informing the user they used the wrong template? Or put it in the wrong place? Is that necessary, a warning, rather than informing? --68.127.233.138 (talk) 01:58, 11 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It will be a warning which is written by me. I use warning as "notification" in this case, it won't b harsh, and the bot won't replace a speedy on the same page twice, so it will allow the user to replace it. - Kingpin¹³ (talk) 12:56, 14 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Can we make it a notification? I like to assume a user may have made a mistake, didn't know all the rules, couldn't find them, rather than that they purposefully did something incorrectly that requires warning? Sure, it's just what we call it, I have no problem with calling it "notification". If you have an idea for the message it should use please suggest it here. I'm thinking somthing like:

Hi Bots/Requests for approval, this is an automated message from SDPatrolBot, to let you know that I recently removed a Speedy Deletion template you added to Microsoft. I removed it because the page is in the namespace of Article, but the CSD you used (F1), only applies to pages in the namespace of File. If the template shouldn't have been removed, please replace it (SDPatrolBot won't remove it again), and report the error. Thanks - Kingpin¹³ (talk) 12:57, 17 August 2009 (UTC)

Suggest you do a trial run, while waiting. Run it from your user account and manually oversee at 4 edits per minute, staying well within bot policy, then when a baggie turns up you'll be ready to go. Rich Farmbrough, 06:33, 27 August 2009 (UTC).[reply]

Been doing some of these (since it doesn't require the bot to load any more pages than it already does for its other tasks. See: A7 removal, A7 removal, A7 removal, A7 removal :D.
