Automatic or Manually Assisted: Semi-automatic
Programming Language(s): AWB
Function Summary: Tag pages with project template for the Ecuador WikiProject the India WikiProject.
Edit period(s) (e.g. Continuous, daily, one time run): One-time run for this job, but may recur or be requested for other projects.
Already has a bot flag (Y/N): N
Function Details: Per this bot request, tag all pages in this list with the Ecuador WikiProject template. First tested (successfully) on my AWB account, but after realisiing that 1000+ pages needed tagging, I thought it would be best if this was done semi-automatically.
The above task is being done by another bot, but in a similar vein, the INDIA WProj want a bot assisted assessment whereby a bot looks at all unassessed pages and adds the highest assessment parameter from other project templates on the page to the {{WP India}} template. E.g. if a page that has the WP India template has 'Start' and 'B' classes from other templates, '|class=B' will be added to the WP India one.
If this is approved, could User:Bot0612 be added to the approval list for AWB?
Discussion
[edit]- I made the initial request for bot help. Each of the articles listed at User:GregManninLB/test is tagged with an Ecuador category on the article page but lacks a WikiProject Ecuador talk page tag. Thanks GregManninLB (talk) 14:31, 24 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- User:CWii said on the botreq that his User:John Bot would handle the Ecuador ones. This is for auto-assessment of India-related articles. RichardΩ612 Ɣ ɸ 14:37, May 24, 2008 (UTC)
- Apparently, the BRFA portion about Ecuador was crossed out as I was writing my above BRFA discussion comment about Ecuador. I appologize for any confusion this caused. GregManninLB (talk) 14:41, 24 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Well, uh heh, no. I said I could help, but I meant in the future. Due to issues with my ISP i don't have a high-speed connection which is required. Sorry, CWii(Talk|Contribs) 02:45, 25 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Approved for trial (50 edits). Please provide a link to the relevant contributions and/or diffs when the trial is complete. dihydrogen monoxide (H2O) 04:05, 25 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Done 50 pages were checked, but only some of them had other templates with classes, so not all of them could be edited. I can do some more if you like. My internet connection dropped out halfway through [hence the gap in edits] but no problems occurred with the actual bot code. RichardΩ612 Ɣ ɸ 10:58, May 25, 2008 (UTC)
- All seemed good to me. When BetacommandBot did this, it used to also add a message to the talk page (eg. [1]). Do you want to consider that? (Optional!) dihydrogen monoxide (H2O) 11:02, 25 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- I can do that, but it probably isn't necessary to spam talk pages with such messages [I mean if the project asked for the assessments, they'll know that it has gone on!]. If a project specifically wants messages added, then I can do so. RichardΩ612 Ɣ ɸ 11:04, May 25, 2008 (UTC)
- Hmm, you're right. Well, all seems well here. Approved. dihydrogen monoxide (H2O) 11:06, 25 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
