Function overview: Remove duplicate WikiProject templates
Automatic, Supervised, or Manual: Automatic
Programming language(s): AutoWikiBrowser
Source code available: AWB
Links to relevant discussions (where appropriate): Wikipedia:Bot requests/Archive 85#Merge duplicate WikiProject banners
Edit period(s): Monthly
Estimated number of pages affected: 2,380
Namespace(s): Category talk, Draft talk, Talk, Wikipedia talk
Exclusion compliant (Yes/No): Yes
Function details: For pages in Category:Pages using WikiProject banner shell with duplicate banner templates, remove duplicate WikiProject templates (e.g. this edit). This bot's definition of "duplicate" is that the WikiProject template and every parameter is included the same WikiProject template on the same page. This bot will use the AWB module User:Magioladitis/WikiProjects to standardize WikiProject names, and perform talk page general fixes.
This bot will NOT attempt to merge WikiProject templates which have different parameters (which may need to be done manually). GoingBatty (talk) 18:54, 13 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]There are quite a few pages that have more than one United States or television banners (Category talk:1843 establishments in Wisconsin Territory and Talk:Amazing Greys as examples) and which needs the parameters to be merged. I wouldn't be surprised if these two are main contributors to this category, so if the bot can merge the parameters it would be useful so it won't need to be done manually. --Gonnym (talk) 19:06, 13 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
- @Gonnym - I'll leave the merging to a more accomplished bot programmer. I've manually merged the WikiProjects on these two pages. GoingBatty (talk) 19:42, 13 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

- @GoingBatty: here, the normal way to put things in the edit window is a line break after 1=, like so. Likewise for [1]. Can that be tweaked? Headbomb {t · c · p · b} 21:19, 30 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
- @Headbomb: Tweaked my rules that remove spaces, which resulted in this edit and this edit. GoingBatty (talk) 01:20, 1 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
