Already has a bot flag (Yes/No): Yes
Function details: Since redirect pages are not considered stubs, remove stub templates from any redirect pages. (e.g. this edit). Also perform any AWB general fixes at the same time. GoingBatty (talk) 19:16, 28 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Would like to expand this task to remove other maintenance templates (e.g. {{notability}}, {{unreferenced}}, {{refimprove}}). Will NOT run AWB general fixes with this task to avoid changing the page from a redirect to an article. GoingBatty (talk) 14:52, 8 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]Approved for trial (500 edits). Please provide a link to the relevant contributions and/or diffs when the trial is complete. (Limited to Category:Main_Belt_asteroid_stubs). — xaosflux Talk 19:43, 28 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
- Before saying this is fine project-wide, want to ensure there have been recent posts for community input. The C:MBAS group above is a good place to trial, as it was specifically requested. Post the 500 edit trial, and then we can extend the trial to that entire category while awaiting input. — xaosflux Talk 19:43, 28 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

- Support, as a stub-sorter brought here by those two requests for comment. It seems a useful thing to do and I can't think of any reason not to. PamD 23:17, 28 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
- @Xaosflux: Category:Main Belt asteroid stubs only had 461 redirects with stub templates, which the bot fixed in these 461 edits. Would you like me to finish the trial in other categories, or are these edits sufficient? Thanks! GoingBatty (talk) 00:01, 29 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
- @GoingBatty: so "a couple of thousand of them aren't articles - they're redirects" @Grutness: was wrong..or did something go awry? — xaosflux Talk 00:14, 29 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
- @Xaosflux: I'm presuming that Grutness simply overestimated. GoingBatty (talk) 02:37, 29 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

- How do you plan to tackle "All" redirects with stub templates? Are you going to crawl every single stub on the project? Do you have any estimates of the number of edits this will entail? — xaosflux Talk 00:16, 29 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
- @Xaosflux: I searched the March 4 database dump for mainspace pages containing
#REDIRECT\s*\[\[.+\]\].+{{[\w\d-]+stubs?}}
(ignoring comments). The bot will skip articles that don't currently contain#REDIRECT\s*\[\[
and skip articles that aren't redirects (i.e. those that have.+\n#REDIRECT
). Preparsing the list, I found 598 pages for fixing. GoingBatty (talk) 02:55, 29 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]- Is that including the 461 you just completed, or 598 more to go? In either case this is a rather small number, assuming no one from the community requests links has any significant objections this can be approved in a day or two. — xaosflux Talk 03:35, 29 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

this edit is problematic, as it resulted in the article no longer being a redirect:Jay8g [V•T•E] 03:56, 29 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
- @Jay8g: You're right - that will have to be addressed before proceeding. GoingBatty (talk) 12:31, 29 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
- Outside of that ordering, should other article content be left on these pages (e.g. infoboxes) after they become redirects? — xaosflux Talk 13:52, 29 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
- @Jay8g: I filed this AWB bug to report the issue. The simplest solution for this bot is to turn of AWB's general fixes until the bug is fixed.
- @Xaosflux: Wikipedia:Redirect and Help:Redirect don't specifically say that you MUST remove all other article content from pages after they become redirects. However, it would seem reasonable to me to remove {{notability}} and other maintenance templates. GoingBatty (talk) 02:58, 30 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
- @Jay8g and Xaosflux: Since the AWB developers didn't fix the bug, I won't run general fixes with this bot task. However, I would like to remove other maintenance templates while doing this tasks, as it will help with some of the backlogs. I have updated the function overview & details above. Approved. I suggest that perform AWB general fixes to the rest. Just skip pages with REDIRECT in them and check separately. -- Magioladitis (talk) 15:41, 24 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
