- This page was marked as containing original research, then nominated for deletion, which resulted in a mighty terrorist attack utilizing weapons of mass destruction. After a slight name change, it was nominated again as a joke, but the discussion quickly turned serious.

- It was noted that User:IXavier's monitor may well be configured to be inverted somehow, as he had inverted the Main Page of Wikipedia for his own nefarious means.
- Jimbo was made an offer by extraterrestrials which led to a request for comment.
- Volleyball in Latvia has been redirected to Mārtiņš Pļaviņš
- Cyberpower678 displays a false new messages banner.
- Cyberpower678 has been using other people's signature styles.
- Cyberbot I is claiming to self-destruct due to internal errors.
- Wikipedia:WikiProject Video games closed down but later got better.
- Jimbo Wales is blocked as a vandalism-only account by Arctic Kangaroo.
- YouTube is edited as the website closed down but later it got reverted.
- The Main Page started off with The Feature Article of the Day, which ended up being nothing but a big, giant question mark.
- In The News decided April Fools' Day was silly and became a stick in the mud by not joining in.
- Luckily, Did You Know? was not as serious and decided to post several silly lists to celebrate.
- On This Day also decided to get into the fun with their own silly list of events from the past.
- Not to be outdone The Picture Of The Day showed A Square Earth map from the 19th Century.
- Last, but not least The Featured List ended up with pigs in a mouth.
On the Web
[edit]- Google played a collection of pranks on April 1, 2013.[1] A sampling:
- Google Schmick – Place designer elements on Google Maps to "spruce up" an area.
- Google Maps Treasure Hunt Mode – This is tied to a real event in Australia, and converted Google Maps to look like a treasure map. Streetview became a sepia view through a scratched telescope.
- YouTube Announced to Shut Down – In a story that gained media attention, YouTube was announced to be shutting down. No new video submissions were said to be accepted and one video would be chosen the best of them all. The decision is expected in 2023.
- Google Nose – The ability to search by sniffing. Ironically, the video explaining it is on YouTube.
- Mishapocalypse – when fans of an actor Misha Collins took over Tumblr
