Maria Victoria Kjær Theilvig (Danish pronunciation: [ˈvikˌtɔʁjɑː kyːæʁ ˈtɕe̝ilˌviːk]; born 13 November 2003 in Copenhagen, Denmark) is a Danish model and beauty queen who was crowned Miss Universe 2024.
Theilvig is the first Danish woman to win Miss Universe and also the first to place after Žaklina Šojić in Miss Universe 2007. Theilvig's victory marked Denmark's second win in any of the Big Four international beauty pageants, following Catharina Svensson in Miss Earth 2001.
She had previously placed as the second runner-up at Miss Denmark 2022. She also represented Denmark at Miss Grand International 2022, gaining placement in the top twenty.[1][2] Accordingly, she is the first winner to use the Light of Infinity golden pearl crown unveiled by the Miss Universe Organization that same year.
Early life and education
[edit]Born in 2003 in Søborg, Gribskov, in Denmark's Capital Region, Victoria grew up in the serene suburb of Copenhagen. She graduated with a bachelor's degree in business and marketing. As a professional dancer, Victoria has garnered many accolades, and now, she aims to become a lawyer. Prior to becoming Miss Universe, she regularly advocated for mental health support, supported animal rights causes, and worked as a beauty entrepreneur.
Pageantry
[edit]Victoria's journey began in 2021 when she first competed in Miss Denmark and became the second runner up among 32 contestants. The following year she was appointed Miss Grand Denmark. She represented Denmark at Miss Grand International 2022 in Indonesia against 67 contestants and placed in the Top 20. It was in September 2024 when Emma Heyst, Miss Denmark 2024 refused to compete, due to lack of preparation. Victoria was designated by Miss Denmark Organization to represent Denmark at Miss Universe 2024 in Mexico.
