Surely 'A naval biographical dictionary' is well out of copyright? It was published in 1849. Shipsview (talk) 16:55, 19 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Got your message re copyright vs cut and paste. Point taken. Interesting point re renewed copyright. How is this possible for someone who has been dead for 100 years (or whatever)? Shipsview (talk) 17:11, 19 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
it could have been done by a 3rd party. Zvezda1111 (talk) 17:55, 19 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
No offence taken - I value the help (most) folk offer with making Wikipedia a trusted and valued resource. Shipsview (talk) 17:38, 19 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry to keep pestering you, but leaving aside for the moment the cut and paste issue, the Archive.org version of my reference has this: 'There are no known copyright restrictions in the United States on the use of the text.' Shipsview (talk) 17:46, 19 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
no worries. It seem that that info should be helpful - please post this information into the discussion section of the article n question Zvezda1111 (talk) 17:55, 19 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The Douglas Archives www.douglashistory.co.uk is my website! I NEVER cite my website as a source, but sometimes others do, as in the case of Peter John Douglas. Please do not trawl through my Wikipedia articles looking for material that is copied from my website as I use some of the same material on both. This does not mean that I claim authorship of everything in The Douglas Archives. There are clear disclaimers on that! Shipsview (talk) 17:06, 19 November 2011 (UTC) Dear Sir or Madam, please do not take offense. If you have rights to the materials you posted, you should send wikipedia an email from the domain associated with your website granting wikipedia permission to use that content. Otherwise it is impossible for us to tell who is who, and who owns what. On the printed source for another article - if someone reprinted that book, they may have renewed the copyright... tagging articles

[edit]

I see that despite tagging Peter John Douglas and Archibald Douglas (d. 1741) as being potential copyvios, you have not posted a report at Wikipedia:Copyright problems. I would suggest you now do this as a matter of course, following the procedure outlined on the template on those article, so this matter can be addressed in a timely fashion. You should also read the explanation on the article talkpage about public domain material and its application to wikipedia. Benea (talk) 05:16, 23 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. In Charles Heidelberger, you recently added a link to the disambiguation page Papanicolaou (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
